Cora see is she can draw the hidden voice out. "We have not come at the behest of anyone but ourselves. Are you in need of assistance?"

Bluff Check: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29

Cora casts Familiar Pocket every day in the morning so her familiar has a place to hide and she can send it there at the first round of combat as a free action. Also, when they do not see any opposition in the room, Cora casts Detect Magic and scans over the room.

Seems like we have a plan ready for the succubus and most of a plan for the Arrow Demons.

Polymorph as a 11 headed hydra would output serious damage in the fight with arrow demons.

I speak 13 languages, including every elemental language.

I can summon small elementals, at will with a 5 round duration, that I typically use for scouting. Earth elementals go through walls, water and air can scout their respective elements.

The problem with the Mephits, is they are usually neutral and my best powers only work with evil summons.

For clarity, my summon monster spells for evil creatures, have double duration, increased stats and I get 1 extra monster. As an example of my options with Summon Monster 5; 1 celestial griffon for 11 rounds OR 2 fiendish tigers with max health (magic ring) and bonus stats (+2 damage and +2 HP/HD) for 11 rounds OR 1d3+1 Fiendish large monstrous spiders with bonus stats (+2 damage and +2 HP/HD) for 22 rounds. Additionally I have feats that affect all summons as well.

I'm always better off summoning evil monsters, but the Mephits have great SLA's. Unless I know of a group of evil Dust Mephits, that I can summon specifically from, I only get 1 normal Mephit.

Wind Wall can protect the casters from the archers and Daylight will limit the abilities of the Shadow Mastiffs.

So for the Succubus, a few Giant Spiders to web her sounds like the plan.

Arrow demon battle:

I have Wall of Smoke and Sleet Storm to limit vision.

Wall of Force will allow me to summon through it and prevent their arrows unless to DD behind it and into melee range.

Haste will allow for more melee damage form our fighting folks.

I can also summon mephits to get Stinking cloud or Wind Wall. Wind wall will force the archers in close because it deflects all missiles. They can be summoned just before we enter the room.

My spells will bypass demonic SR with Assay Spell Resistance gives me +10 on spell penetration. It is a wonderful spell especially as it is a Swift Action.

Air elementals I can summon will only affect small or smaller creatures with wirlwind.

Also the succubus has damage resistance that my summons will have a hard time dealing with.

Honesty, a flying, 11 headed hydra(fly and polymorph) will probably be the best chance against her. Even with DR10, the 11 attacks at 1d10+6 will wear her down. I can also summon a Griffon or a bunch of dire bats to help with the fight along with archery and ranged attacks.

Perhaps, I'm overthinking it, Summon monstrous spiders and simply web the succubus onto the ground and in melee range. Web is an Extraordinary ability and will bypass SR.

"The Circle of Protection would be good for us casters, holding some of the attackers away from us. Excellent idea Gear!"

OOC: I have the fly spell too, to go along with Air Walk

If grappling will not contain them, I can summon a pair of tigers and go for massive damage instead. The tigers can then get a new pounce when they dimension door, increasing their damage.

The dome version of wall of stone will keep the succubus more contained than the wall of force. Also, if the room is too big, Wall of Force will not cover the whole roof.

None of the items interests Cora, however, if there is enough coin for her to learn Wall of Stone, that is a better wall spell for the situation we are going into.

Cora has no problem doing the talking and lying through her teeth. She lies to evil creatures all the time.

West, does Cora know if the demon's dimension door ability can be used while grappled?

... "Gear, the shadow mastiffs are evil creatures summoned to their master. Your protection magic will be a great benefit to us all keeping the shadow mastiffs at bay." The group was coming together nicely during the focused conversation about the strong opponents they had already encountered.

Female High Elf Wizard (Conjuress) 3 / Master Specialist 3 / Malconvoker 5 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 18/T:14/FF:14 | DR: 3/- for 30 HPs| F:4 R:8 W:12 | Skills: Bluff +24, K Arcana +12 (+17 Monsters), K Religion +11 (+16 Monsters), K planes +15 (+20 Monsters), Spellcraft +19 (+21 Conjuration) | Search +11, Spot +1, Listen +2

Cora stops to consider Gear's question ...

OOC: Do I know if Shadow Mastifs are evil or neutral? I'm guessing K Planes as they are summoned
K Planes: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29

Female High Elf Wizard (Conjuress) 3 / Master Specialist 3 / Malconvoker 5 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 18/T:14/FF:14 | DR: 3/- for 30 HPs| F:4 R:8 W:12 | Skills: Bluff +24, K Arcana +12 (+17 Monsters), K Religion +11 (+16 Monsters), K planes +15 (+20 Monsters), Spellcraft +19 (+21 Conjuration) | Search +11, Spot +1, Listen +2

Cora lets the other process the knowledge she has given them "You have found yourselves caught between some formidable opponents. In battling the succubus I believe Wall of Stone would be superior to my Wall of Force, by virtue of being able to shape the wall into different configurations. Unfortunately, I have not yet learned that particular magical formulae, though I am strong enough to use Wall of Stone. I am confident, the cleric and arrow demons can be dealt with using my current compliment of magical spells. The use of Fly and Polymorph, as I explained earlier, will give one of you a tactical advantage to counter the dimension door ability of the arrow demons and my fiendish crocodiles will be able to detain one if not two of those demons before they can dimensionally hop to a new location. Then, should that tactic not work, I can also call some brabazu, to do battle with the arrow demons. My devils have to ability to teleport at will, a greater ability than the dimension door of the demons. As for the shadow mastifs, I believe Gear has magic more capable of dealing with them, clerics can call upon the raw power of the sun in form of a spell, if my memory serves me correctly."

OOC: Do I know if the demon's dimension door ability can be used while grappled?

Cora thinks over the information Fash provided about the hounds ...
K Planes: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30
K Arcana: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
K Religion: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36

Cora listens to the conversation. "I agree with Gear, the cleric should be the priority in that engagement given that the cleric could be the anchor binding the arrow demons to the Prime Material Plane. If that turns out to be an incorrect assumption, then we will have removed a support from the arrow demons and should precipitate a shorter confrontation with the remaining arrow demons."

Female High Elf Wizard (Conjuress) 3 / Master Specialist 3 / Malconvoker 5 | HP: 35/35 | AC: 18/T:14/FF:14 | DR: 3/- for 30 HPs| F:4 R:8 W:12 | Skills: Bluff +24, K Arcana +12 (+17 Monsters), K Religion +11 (+16 Monsters), K planes +15 (+20 Monsters), Spellcraft +19 (+21 Conjuration) | Search +11, Spot +1, Listen +2

Cora is a shorter elf, with long blonde hair, up in a high ponytail. She is wearing a thin black robe with a red belt, with a number of rods and wands hanging from the belt. She has a pack over one shoulder and is wearing dark blue cloves and a red cape. She stares over the top of her spectacles, critically studying anything of interest.

Cora follows her old friend into the tavern and lets him introduce her to his current fellowship. She immediately recognizes her old traveling companion Morrow. "Hello my friend, it has been some time since we traveled together, Morrow." She listens to his description of their struggles. "A succubus, you say" Cora takes some time to think before he responds. "There are a number of options to deal with a flying foe. First I can wall off the space to limit their ability to get out of reach of our weapons. I can summon flying monsters to attack a flying enemy. Lastly I can give flight to one of you with a flying spell or changing your shape into a specific avian creature to engage your foe. There are many ways to deal with any opponent."

When another of Morrow's companions mentions archer demons, Cora thinks about more potential solutions. "Archer demons. Very interesting opponent. I am certain grappling them with summoned minions will limit their use of those bows. Archers and spellcasters are excellent foes to engage with grappling minions, as they tend to be less formidable in melee combat." With a knowing look at Gear "Yet there are always exceptions, and even then there are solutions to be found."

"It is a pleasure to meet you too, Reonnyn. You keen skills of observation are correct. I am a wizardess, and one who specializes in calling otherworldly minions to aid whatever task I desire." With a simple gesture of her hand, the elf opens a small portal in the air and a 4 foot tall creature, vaguely man shaped and made of rock and stone, steps forth. The elf then speaks to her minion in a strange harsh, rumbling language before the creature goes and retrieves a chair for the wizardess. Sitting down, Cora waves her and and the small figure fades away without sound. "Why should I bother with menial tasks when I can have magic solve that for me." she says with a rare smile.

OOC:
Let's see what I know about the monsters the team has described so far

And Cora, feel free to use those rolls - I can't remember where I saw them, but I'm sure they're just fine!

If he had to use Bluff as often as I do, he would run out of spells quickly. LOOL We Malconvokers make bluff rolls with each and every summon of evil monsters, which is all we summon

On one of you I can cast fly and then polymorph them into a 10 headed hydra before the fight and then summon flying minions once the fight begins. That will give the succubus something to worry about

As for the archer demons and cleric, I'm sure a few giant crocs to grapple and then some bearded demons to flank would help deal with them.

Wall of force I have, but not wall of stone. I could likely get that spell before we leave Greyhawk.

I am much more than a Wizard, I am a Malconvoker. I can summon a legion of monsters to deal with most situations, with just my standard memorized spells, then there is always the option of preparing to combat a specific situation. Also, I can bluff and lie better than anyone, LOL

Thanks for the advice. I just put Fiery burst in the top line as an attack. I don't remember the last time I used that ability, I have too many other spells and monsters to keep track of.

To that end, I'll need to create a document with all the relevant stats for my summons and their attacks so I do not have to recreate them every round. That would be too much work with every post, given I summon two or more monsters with every summon spell now.

Fiery Burst damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 3) = 11

That works, perfect!

Bluff check for Deceptive Summons vs Sense motive: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (15) + 24 = 39

I do not have any HP rolls from you for level 10 and 11, assuming its the same as on WoG and the GM rolls and we get half is less than half.

Oddly I just read those rules in the 3.5 DMG (I'm running a 3.5 version of ToEE for my regular Saturday group) and every odd level you get an extra HP. Wizard is to get 2 HP on even levels and 3 on odd levels.

Cora is actually doing well at 28 HP for 9 levels on 1d4 alone!!

Thanks, I was able to start loading the info in those slots

I think I have everything updated on my CS, just need HP rolls. Its is actually +20 k Planes for monsters, I was wrong earlier.

I like the idea of her knowing something. Perhaps I left the adventure to pursue studying the history the Ruins or of the monsters within there. That sort of idea suits her, though she has no ranks in k History. It both explains her leaving and her returning.

I just levelled my skills, I am an expert in creature knowledge, especially about planar creatures, +23 to identify planar monsters.

Well, that is an interesting way for me to return to the adventure after having left for personal growth and discovery. I will follow that route and when I return I WILL, I did not previously, have high K planes. Malconvokers are masters of Bluff (complete Scoundrel book PrC after all) and my Bluff will be +24 at level 11.

How do I deal with hit points for both levels?

I left WoG when things started migrating over here, 2018.

My last scene included finding a stranger in a fine robe in a prison cell.

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/d20worldofgreyhawk/expedition-to-the-ruins- of-greyhawk-t10021-s480.html

It would appear Cora is already known by this party and I was mistaken that is was Brosh, he was in Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. I was very close to 10th level, so perhaps I returned to the City of Greyhawk to train and encountered some side adventure along the way before returning to the party.

I was in a game with you, Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk. I was actually in a game of your before that one which we finished naturally. Using the search engine on Tapatalk, Morrow was with her in Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk, if this Morrow is the same one.

I'll level her up to 11, and choose items equal to the difference between 9 to 11 and update her CS as soon as I can.

She has some things form WoG that I don't see here, traits and flaws as well as Imbued Staff. Do I remove those?

Thank you. It would appear I need to learn the configurations of the board. You all have more information at the top of your posts.

Cora Tosscobble, Summoner, at your service. Let me throw lots of meat between the party and our opponents. I have a solution to most situations, typically summoning something to help out.

WoG is the World of Greyhawk, a PbP forum that both West and I played on for a very long time.

Well, the WOG CS copied over rather well, I'm glad to say.
