No, mostly I was talking about the four armed chick. Diablo is very thematic. In simulationist games it irks me a bit when people's concepts or behavior breaks immersion. Some people can take a strange concept and still make it thematically appropriate. Others can't. Unfortunately it's sometimes hard to tell before the game starts. Rasmus was one of the most thematically appropriate characters in the last game, in my opinion.

Cole leaps out of the way of the attack, surprised and angry, ending up next to Aylya against the wall. He points his torch at the creature and snarls something in an arcane tongue, sending a blast of flame towards the creature. 5' adjust up diagonally next to Aylya. Spell-like ability, does not provoke. Fire Jet: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 fire damage and Catch Fire. DC 16 reflex negates.

Those were pretty much my thoughts as well. The creatures I remember having distinctly different languages are the small imps from act 1 and the pigmy tribes from act 3 of Diablo 2. Other than that, it all seemed to be the same language. Except maybe for the cows. Seems like they got an awful lot of variation out of 'moo'.

Consider me scolded. I didn't know what languages would be appropriate. The diablo world is different than a standard fantasy world. I have 5 languages to pick, and I probably learned most of them from Cain. How about I let GM Razor, or someone else more familiar with the setting, pick them for me?

Cole takes a few moments to inspect the trap, particularly the source of the flames. "That would be a handy trick to know how to do..." Can anything be gleaned from inspecting the trap? Know. Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

"A higher power? You mean like the one who did this to the church and burned most of my skin off? Something like that, maybe?" Cole said pointing to the image of Diablo on the wall. Shaking his head he turned to see what the next problem would be, still muttering to himself. "If this is part of some kind of divine plan, it's a damn poor one."

I tend to build families if I submit characters with similar themes across multiple games. At this point I have 4 dwarves from Clan Bellowpiper running around the boards and 5 knights and nobles from House Ravencourt of Ustalav.

Fine by me Aylya. I've seen Lanfearon submit that same character concept to at least 4 games in the last few months. I hope they find a game where their idea fits. It's interesting, but didn't seem to work well for this setting.

Sorry. Long busy weekend. Cole just listens, seeming torn for a while the eventually sighs and steps forward to join them. "You people are crazy, but I need to go with you. Don't ask me why. It seems like a bad idea to me too."

"Thank you sir," Cole says with a shake of his head. "I'll pass though. The cream dulls my mind. I'd rather be able to stay focused." "I wanted to ask you about the book from the case in the store room. The one I came out of the church with. It seems to be full of cyphers and puzzles. It has only been a short while, but I have been bed-ridden with little else to do but read. Every time I solve one, it leads me to another and I notice that my grasp of the arcane has changed. I worry about the speed I am learning. I know the tales of what happens to those who gain power before the wisdom to use it properly. Is it safe?

Cole walks to the well and waits patiently for his teacher to finish reading the scroll. He had been reprimanded enough times about the potential loss that came from the interruption of intellectual pursuits to distract Cain from his reading. He simply waited, looking over the ruin of the town with anger in his eyes.

Cole remained in the tavern as the strangers all went to investigate what was left of the town. He was starving. Today was the first day he'd really been conscious long enough to have an appetite. He could tell he was weaker than he used to be, but even through the hunger his mind was bright and roaring. He warmed his bread in his hands magically, without even thinking about it. They think they can handle what is in the church? I don't believe them, but someone has to do something. Whole place needs to be burned to the ground, if you ask me. They'll be bask. They'll want to make some kind of a plan before just waltzing in. Finishing his meal, Cole walked outside to speak with Deckard. The old man was wise. Maybe he'd have some advice.

Cole was tired of lying in bed. Deckard said it was what was needed. Whatever the old man had rubbed on his charred skin had certainly done the trick, but free of the pain, his mind quickly grew restless. He'd read the book until the pressure in his head grew until he thought it would burst. And then he read it again. If he was going to be able to learn more he needed practice, and he was going to have to have a talk with with his teacher about all the cyphers. It seemed like every other page was another puzzle. When he couldn't take it anymore, he picked himself up slowly and pulled trousers and a tunic on over his bandages, and made his way out of the room in the back of the inn that they had turned into a makeshift clinic. Waving weakly to Ogden as he passed through the kitchen, he poured himself a bowl of soup, and went to sit down in the main room. He didn't expect it to be full of so many unfamiliar faces. Shaking his head, he sat down. Maybe he'd learn something if he stayed a while and listened... Cole is a young man covered almost entirely in bandages. It's obvious he's been badly burned recently. Most of his hair is gone and he looks like a mess.
