Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

No issues at all Mr Hungry Voodoo - I for one will always be hanging around if you get to the point of being able to pick it back up again :)

I'll second that pugwampi + competence = bad juju for adventurers... but at least it was only entangle and not stinking cloud!

I've always thought a Master / Blaster build would be brutal for a pugwampi / unchosen gnoll combo.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen looks down at his hands, focusing and attempting to see if the torpor that had gripped his actions has lifted or yet remains...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 7:

Hissing "Quickly... end it before we are worn down" Chitleen again attempts to aid Lockjaw's cleaving axe...
Aid Another (+2 to attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 1 = 5
...though his fumbling fingers slip on his blade's hilt and he barely avoids dropping it.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 6:

Knowing his own blade would likely not harm the beast, Chitleen instead focuses on doing what he can to ensure that Lockjaw's axe cleaves deep...
Aid Another (+2 to attack): 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 1 = 20

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 5:

Knowing that his acidic missives and bowshot will not harm the beast, Chitleen instead focuses on getting into position to strike.

Move action adjacent to beastie and Lockjaw, draw talwar during move.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 5:

If the fall of the priestess gives Chitleen succor... he does not show it. Instead mechanically his hands fumble within his satchel for another of his alkahest bombs. This time the vial is larger and thinner same, though follows the same arc towards the demon...
Tangle-hest: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 1 = 22
Exclude friendlies - and DC 15 Reflex for the demon or it's entangled and glued to the floor. A save prevents the glue-age.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen still has one trick left in his bag...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 3: 3/7 bombs used

With little else presenting itself as a worthwhile option, Chitleen attempts once more to strike the ghast priestess with alkahest - hoping that the demon's resolve might fade if she were able to be ended...

Alkahest: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 = 26 for 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (8, 8, 4) + 4 = 24
Crit: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 1 = 18 for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
7 splash DC 15 Reflex for half, exclude friendlies from effect.

...managing a much better throw that breaks upon the priestess' face and melts away at her features.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Aye - the dice swing is pretty brutal at times. With slightly higher rolls the priestess could have had 40 odd damage to the dome from alkahest.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Ok... now we dead :P

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 3: 2/7 bombs used

Hissing as his ill thrown alkahest splashes wide of the ghast, Chitleen fumbles out another vial to deliver...

Alkahest: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 1 = 10 for 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5, 8) + 4 = 23
7 splash DC 15 Reflex for half

...though again is flies wide and expends itself upon the floor.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

*Sigh* - the reaction here was nothing more than being peeved at you saying that 'if we can't retreat we haven't planned well enough'... rather than looking at the actual tactical situation before us at present and realising that we can't really make any attempt at retreat due to the current afflictions afflicting us.

Lockjaw (apart from the 4 negative levels) is staggered (from the slow) and has a speed of 20ft.
Chitleen is staggered and has a speed of 30ft.
Karrak is not staggered... but still only has a speed of 20ft feet.
Seamus is not staggered... but still has a speed of 20ft - or 15ft?

The gnolls and demon are most likely rocking a 30ft speed - so they outpace us in every way. To retreat 'safely' you'll need to withdraw, which coughs up a full round action (so only works with Seamus and Karrak)... but since nobody is faster than the enemy we can't actually break away (besides needing to abandon half the party with that option).

Our best option tactically is likely to stand and fight - that way at least Lockjaw and Chitleen can tangibly affect the outcome (by swinging or bomb chucking) using our one standard action per round.

As to Tararr... I'd rather not dredge that up really. You clearly enjoy abrasive relationships in game... I'm less prone to enjoying them, especially with characters that aren't half-created with that style of play in mind.

Chitleen's current personality is a reflection of that 'ball busting', and his dispassionate outlook and lack of emotive interaction is actually his way of dealing with the situation that he's been placed in both by his dwarven companions as well as wading knee deep through the death in the mines.

I don't actually have an issue with you at all...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

BBB - you don't get the point. If we start retreating, due to the reduced speed, then all we are doing is not attacking while they charge us again, and again, and again. At a speed of 30ft for Chitleen (and less for Lockjaw?) we have no mechanical means of outpacing them. The ghast priestess and the demon will be able to move and attack, and since both Lockjaw and Chitleen are staggered - we won't even be able to withdraw.

Tell me how that's 'not planning well enough'?

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

How? - Chitleen is slowed, which means he only moves at 30ft per round.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

So how's Lockjaw's going to go? :P

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Alkahest: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 for 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 7, 6) + 4 = 18
7 splash DC 15 Reflex for half

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Laboring still under the turgid effects of the outsider before them, Chitleen fumbles an alkahest into his hand, readying it to hurl as soon as the shaman open's his mouth...

Ready an action to fling alkahest if the shaman attempts to cast.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Aye Hungry - SR's like AC and Lockjaw's SR is 10 - so it works.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Figuring that his best efforts in this battle may likely be to seek to make it easier for both the smelly and the short to more readily make their blows pay - Chitleen musters what speed and agility is left him to apply a protectative attar to his temple... fumbling the crystal vial as he does and clumsily dropping it to the floor.

Use my 1 x standard action to apply a shield attar - AC up to 22

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Still in the edit window - it could be my save :P

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Drawn into the beast's eyes, Chitleen finds his fingers lagging and slowed in their adroitness. Fearfully he hisses "Not again!" before waiting for an opening in the front line such that he might loose an arrow without the impediment of cover.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Any use for dish eyes?

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Well now... that's a decent enough opener for you...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Surprise:

Chitleen's resolve is strengthened as the meat shield valued and worthwhile companion before him does not succumb to the cold paralysis of the ghasts. Using the moments available, he takes bow from shoulder and nocks an arrow.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen pauses to see the new halfling succumbs to the ghast's bite...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Chitleen forestalls the rise of bile through force of will and nods "They are near..."

Any exits through? - or have we hit a dead end.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

In a sussurant whisper Chitleen laments "Pour ce soir, ils prennent le souper avec la plus blanche de la viande" before adding "We will cut them down after we have dealt with them." nudging Lockjaw towards the double doors.

Elvish:
"For tonight they take supper with the whitest of meat"

As he walks Chitleen is keeping a wary eye for traps

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Nudging one of those garbed in steel, Chitleen directs them towards the unexplored door.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

"Perhaps they don't wish to discourage visitors." Chitleen looks to guide the party back to where they last encountered the ghasts.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

"The white and dead gnolls, we have blunted them - but now they needs be broken"

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Aye - one each of tangle and holy water - giving Chit 2 x holy water and 1 x tangle.

Chitleen nods at Karrak's words "Let us be off... there are beasts to put down. We should be wary but strike as a hammer upon the anvil, as respite would only make them stronger."

Before heading off, Chitleen would use a darkvision attar... but I'm not sure how Seamus sees in the dark?

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Awakening to the mine yet again, the shadows and bags beneath Chitleen's eyes seem to only be darker and deeper than they were the day before. Clothes unkempt and with little attempt to straighten them he approaches Karrak "Have you the means to bless further water to make it burn those that should not live again?"

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

*Tinker, clink, squidge, splurt, hiss, tinker, clink, clink*

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Back amongst the witch's alchemical apparati, Chitleen first slumps in a corner to get some degree of rest. Eyes open and mind working, he remains recumbent for a span of minutes before nodding, setting jaw and forcing himself to rise. Time is then spent brewing and fabricating more of the stodgy sticky missiles.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen looks far too interested in the potential for Tararr to return than the sacriledge that might be involved in the defilement of the fallen. He narrows eyes at Lockjaw and seems to contemplate speaking for a few long seconds... before swallowing his interest and leaving the question of interment to the dwarves.

In open voice he adds "We need rest... then we should return to destroy the ghasts."

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Wary, but silent over the halfling's interjection - Chitleen's ears perk up at the words of Aktosh "What do you mean Aktosh?... what is there to fear from Tararr now that he is dead?"

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

I'll skip on the Skulls and Shackles, but thanks for the offer.

Congrats on the grad class voodoo!.... I think?

Feel free to put the brakes on whenever you need to man, I've gone through weekus horribilus at work this last seven days so I understand if busy is busy.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen takes the flask of holy water before gesturing East "This way, through the hall and towards the Transept"

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 6:
Wasn't defensive fighting... I'm just that bad at hitting things. The extra 2 points of AC were from the magic circle.

Hissing "We are almost broken... we can slay them another day." the elf gives the fallen ghast a quick search...
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
...before making ready to flee.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 5: AC 20

Chitleen sends his talwar flashing out to support Lockjaw's likely more efficient striking...

Talwar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 4: AC 20

As Karrak retreats, Chitleen advances into the breach lashing out defensively to buy Karrak time...

Defensive Talwar: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 4 = 1 for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

...and lo though his blow is lusty, his aim is worthy only of dungheap praise.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Oh dear... I'll wait to see if the other dwarf also stiffens up...

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 3:

Seeing Lockjaw stiffen, Chitleen hisses and drops his bow. Striding forward he hefts Lockjaw back from the front line and looks to ready his blade against the undead foes.

Move up to Lockjaw (and draw talwar), standard action to pull him back.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 2:

Attempting to reposition himself to get a free shot without intervening dwarf, Chitleen nocks, draws and releases...

Bowshot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He has precise shot, so no penalty for firing into melee, but cover would still apply.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Round 1: AC now a shiny 18

Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Managing to choke down the rising bile, Chitleen loosens his bow from his shoulder and takes a speculative shot...
Bowshot: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
...though his aim is less than savory.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Merry christmas to you too Mr talking skull :P

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Assuming no-one else wants it - Chitleen will happily claim the +2 Studded leather.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen is good - 27/28 HP

"Let us hasten back to our fastness... we can return again later to purge the rest of the tower and see if the last of them remain or flee."

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Dittoed from the other thread Voodoo - but have fun now :)

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Chitleen pockets the platinum and jewels, planning to tally them up later - and brings the ring and armor to Karrak "Can you ken their worth?" he doesn't seem to pay much heed to the fallen dwarven comrade.
