I was in two (there were three pbp in the smae world different parties) ran by a Fantastic DM (DM Downrightamazed) who made the pbp feel like you were writing a story, had it been Gestalt it would have been too awesome for my heart to take!
However due to complications he had to stop pbping and hasn't come back, though I hope he is healthy. :( But it was sad seeing that one close like that. So much fun!
That was also thefirst game I was going to build a lvl 11 magus with 43 AC Granted he was a Serpentfolk... >.>;
So much fun.
Serpentfolk as one character and Elven Dragonrider with a Silver Dragon companion! So Epic!
The battle between the Storm King and the dragon left Chi's hands shaking as she tried to quickly reload her weapon. She nearly dropped the paper cartridge in her haste but by the time she had snapped the firearm back into a ready fire position the titanic struggle was winding to a close. Her eyes were wide as saucers as demons poured in, appearing from nowhere and annhilating buildings in mere moments. A long repressed fear gripped her and for a moment she froze, scared stiff of all the flames and death that surrounded her. It's impossible... If the Defender of Kenebras cannot win... Ho- Her body jerked as the ground beneath her fell away and her heart hammered in her chest.
She had barely enough time to relieve the hammer so she didn't shoot herself, however she was rewarded by a heavy blow to the head as she landed roughly somewhere in the darkness below...
Where ever her body was now, it writhed unconsciously as she was gripped by something far worst than a nightmare.
Chi's past:
The chatter of gunfire and firearms discharging was everywhere, no where in the warren was safe now that the demons had breached the Gulch Gunner and Warren Knives lines. Kinfolk lay dead all around her feet, some breathing their last and others crying out for help even some dragged themselves despite being partially dismembered...
Smoke filled the warrens now, the demons had filled the caverns with choking foul smelling smoke that numbed the mind and reactions. However Clan Skyre had ingenuity and engineering on their side. Numerian artifacts stolen decades ago kept the worst of the smoke from penetrating the inner warrens but the outer warrens were left on their own. Among their fighters were machines as well that were fighting whatever demons dared to appear but these relics had their limits and were quickly falling to attrition.
Despite the limited success they had it was all coming undone now that the enemy had turned its full attention on their warren. Moving en masse now to crush all resistance in the Wounded Land, it was only a matter of time before they all died. In the smoke came a staggering putrid creature, injured but no less deadly as it lunged to bite out her throat. She barely had time to fire off a shot and drop the creature before it reached her. Spilling its foul ichor on the floor as its brain matter leaked out of the gaping hole she had put in its forehead.
She was fumbling to reload when another stumbled towards her, she drew her cold iron weapon, scrounged from goblin scraps in a burned out lair. Its properties though were devastating to demons so she claimed it as her own. She slashed the creature, her blow glancing off its shoulder as it bite into her side. Spinning the weapon around she rammed it through its right side, piercing its heart and dropping it to the floor. Wounded she staggered back and placing a hand over her injury to stem the bleeding. However, to her surprise it was already healing but not quick enough for what came next.
A kinfolk ran out of the gloom wreathed in flames and behind it came a short creature with the face of a goat and wielding a large flaming axe. She took the opportunity to use one of her bombs against it. Tossing the explosive and watching in delight as it pummeled the short creature however her excitement was short lived as it emerged unharmed and glaring at her. It opened its muzzle and unleashed a flaming breath that consumed the entire cavern she was standing in. The pain made her stagger back, despite feeling her skin try to knit back together on its own she felt... Soiled, Violated in some way she couldn't comprehend.
Before she had time to understand what was wrong the goat faced creature was on her again, knocking her to the ground. Before she could rise the creature clawed her her chest, tearing open her clothing and driving her to the brink of unconsciousness. Her vision began to darken around the edges, but she could see the death that stood over her. It raised its axe and she closed her eyes, not wanting to see what came next. Then came a guttural shout and the sound of grinding gears, her eyes fluttered open to a surprising sight.
An ancient and rusted machine struggled with the short demon, buying her the time to escape. However the demon was far more fierce than the ancient machine. She scrambled away, leaving them to struggle, the demon shrieked at her and she found her way into the inner warrens. A part of her died that day, a demon with eight arms was wreaking havoc among the new generation, ripping the limbs from children in blood fueled glee. She raised her pistol and fired, the shot ricocheted off without even leaving a scratch.
The creature reacted quicker then she could reload, slamming her to the floor and clawing at her still burning flesh. To her horror it noticed her ability to heal and set upon causing her minor wounds over and over again. Reveling in her howls of pain while not letting her fall unconscious, the pain felt like it had lasted for hours or even days...
Her cloak wavers behind her as her legs carried her further than most, in a few strides she was within her pistols range from the enemy. She leveled it at one of the creatures that wasn't engaged and hammered it in the shoulder with a bullet. The round wouldn't pierce deeply but it would at least do some damage. "Come creature! I will be your foe!"
Seeing Lunes resolute look brings Chi out of her fire induced fear and as her cloak opens she has a pistol in one hand and a strange beaker in the other as she spoke. "... Oh Forget it! Chi Mechanistorm of Clan Skyre will fight! Demons be damned!" Her cloak being full open revealed the full extent of her burns as one burned hand gripped the pistol grip. An entire side of her body was burned and etched into the flesh below her collarbone was some sort of marking, a large tattoo hidden by her clothing.
Sorry to hear that. :/ I know how it feels since my father passed. Not exactly the same but similar in the loss suffered. One thing that always gets me through it is thinking about what they would think/want me to do when I was lost, indecisive or sad and in a way it helps. Because then you remember the good times and those are the things one should hold on to.
Good luck and focus on the good times my friend. Chi is here if you need anything. :)
And Lune. Who appears to not be letting go anytime soon. ;)
She almost wilts as she had to abandon her clansmen to survive but she understood Tryggve's words and smiles slightly. She chuckles at Lunes words before feeling a pulse through her being. Oh no... Not now! She pulled her cloak tight, burying her head in it before opening it at the sound of everyone screaming...
Seeing the lightning and smoke she stuttered. "Desna pro-protect us!" Seeing the fortress engulfed in flames she reaches for her side arm...
some games I can't get enough of, I literally limit myself to no more then 3 posts a day or else I won't leave other people with stuff to do. :/
I get bored a lot sometimes at work. Nothing to do but type 3m pages of operational documents which after the first hundred pages I start losing my mind from boredom.
So paizo PBP is my saving grace. helps keep me mentally alive through the weeks of paperwork ahead...
Chi nods at Lune. "She is right, demons are the cause for these never burns that never heal. Natural, alchemical or divine healing failed to remove this demon mark from me. They also took my clan from me and, Desna willing, I will find those that still live and bring them home." She runs a hand through her burns as she finishes speaking. "Even if it means I am burned head to toe for my endeavors, I will not abandon them this time."
Chi turns to look at Tryggve and starts to fidget, such questions were had for her to answer easily. She fidgets more and more as she speaks, more or less because she was unsure if they would understand her view point. "We are born without purpose until we experience that which forge's us into what we are and wish to become. No one's purpose is any greater or lesser than another as what we hold dear is unique compared to another individual no matter how similar. Desna teaches that You ultimately control the route you take on your lifes journey, maybe not the events and that to be without purpose is to not exist at all. However I am not one to predict where it takes you, what hardships you experienced that made you who you are or the state of your soul. These are above my ability to comprehend or predict because that is the beauty of life..."
Her fidgeting ends as she recalls the fall of her clan. "Ultimately... Everything has purpose, every creature is unique, there is and will only ever be one instance of that creature upon this world until their journey's completion."
"Lune is blunt like a hammer but nice, I promise." She regards the couple. "Curious, is this what the humans call marriage or do you have other mates?" She tilts her head curiously for a moment, keeping her burned side away from them.
"Nice to meet you both I am Chi, Alchemist of Kenebras~" She kept her cloak tight lest her burns disgust the newcomers. Her elvish skin shined in the surrounding light, giving her an almost imperceptible hue.
"And this is Lune~" she indicates her companion who had sudden hushed no one in particular.
Ran out of time due to an internet debacle or else I would have added this to my entries.
Chi's Role:
The idea behind Chi was of course, damage and the utilization of two support classes into one great and devastating combo.
Using explosive ammunition and the alchemists ability to infuse ammo with bomb damage for a very explosive and devastating damage dealer. The infused ammo could still be aimed by the Grenadiers Precise bomb technique, allowing the gunslinging bomb chucker to avoid damaging her allies while blowing holes in the enemy.
Couple that with eventually breaing potions for the party (tonics, ability increases and the like) for an all around team player.
Teldrins Role:
Damage Dealer of course!
Went with a free form, I am my own steed Magus who's Blackblade would eventually be infused with his paladin might as well.
However Teldrin can easily take Magus/Cavalier or Magus/Alchemist in the event the party need more utility classes and less Paladin's. ;)
With Teldrins ability to trnsform he will be able to move about the battlefield quickly and unleash a devastating array of Spells and blade prowess on his opponents. Perhaps not at his current level but with age he will become a sturdy front liner.
As always I am open to changing the character classes to the need of the group as being a balanced group is more important in an AP like this.
Thanks and good luck everyone! No hard feelings at all if not selected over someone with a more solid character Rednal! Thats just how it goes~ ^w^
Me too, I have all the old character sheets from my 1st edition until present games. Lots of conversions needed to make it pathfinder but some would be awesome.
I have the Legendary Ron Bacardi, 1st edition cavalier sheet lol.
18/00 str translated into 24 str by 3.X conversion material xD. So he was lvl 6 which converted to lvl 12 by 3.X standards.
So level 12 Cavalier, with 24 str before magic items. Heheh... Insane charge damage with that one. So much work...
With my comp issues lately I have been working on my Kingmaker: Iobaria adventure more and its coming out nicely. It has the ability to be a Way of the Wicked like Campaign. Evil characters, seizing control of a weak and isolate country that no one really cares about...
Except for those that live there of course. >:)
Evil Demi-Humans/Monstrous Humanoids are an option for characters as well. Such as Hobgoblins and Bugbears. I even located some interesting bits on a buried Serpentfolk vault. I know SPOILERS! But research this fruitful is fun.
There is the presence of Cyclopian architecture as well. Making a lot of places very friendly to invading centaurs and larger monstrous humanoids. Mwahahah.
Erhem So yeah fun times to be had.
I am also working on my current Homebrew Skyfall as well. Hopeing my group picks up some and moves the story forward before I have to DMNPC the rolls, way more anticlimactic then I want to be. :(
I have planned out some of the Centaurs expansion/invasion, utilized the same NPC's from Kingmaker (for simplicity and to stay somewhat Cannon~). I have a few encounters made up and a number of possible "Paths" for the party to take. The encounter table is what always fudges me up. :/
The Black Rebellion is a run and gun urban adventure at first. I have several encounters made for that one. A lot can happen in the city adventure. Created a number of NPC's, including the would be Aristocrat to be killed. >:) Execution, thrown out a window or killed in combat. No Matter! However beyond the initial over throw I haven't got much more planned yet. Both of them slow a bit before the actual establishment of territory/kingdom building.
I enjoy writing adventures, one of my favs outside of Paizo is Red Hand Of Doom. Classic AND Awesome! :D
Hell Yeah all Centaur / Lapith party would be awesome! xD
Still writing up the Black Lands - Iobaria.
It's an adventure that starts with the characters being residents or an outside party, come to Iobaria to unite the land (as residents) / create a new kingdom out of the ashes of the forgotten and abandoned lands.
Ideas of Residents -
Nomen Centaurs -
A tribe of nomadic Centaurs whose culture was shattered by the invasion of the Taldoran empire generations before. The Centaurs are being forced out of the Stolen Lands by the expansion of a new kingdom their (Kingmaker!) Forced into a corner and negotiations breaking down they do what no one expects. Return to the hinterlands of Iobaria, the land of the Linnorm Kings and begin a campaign of expansion and soldifying their borders. Building alliances with old allies and tribes and/or subjugating any who refuse to join them.
The Black Rebellion! Regicide of the Prince of Orlov! -
Years of suffering has led to strong seeds of rebellion and after the leaders of the rebel cell are executed by the Prince of Orlov for Sedition the city is driven into a corner. It's citizens are forced to make a tough choice, continue suffering quietly like sheep or rise up and bather the streets in the blood of the corrupt! Starting with that DAMNED PRINCE! FOR ORLOV! FOR FREEDOM!
However taking control of Orlov leads to complications they didn't foresee. The Prince had some allies, many of which would love to have Orlov as their own. A prime coastal town as their own brings the greedy armies and assassins of many to their doorstep. What choice did they have but to fight back!
True, but I admit some are easier to 'get into' mentally then others. Jade regent is one I really want ti like but the story throughs me some. The caravan rules are neat and the relationship boon/negative was a neat concept too.
However Kingmaker reminded me so much of my first characters that it was an instant favorite for me.
I had been building a expansion into Numeria and/or Iobaria.
Iobaria is a rough place! If you've never read about it it is literally a land that hates cities. Disease destroys people who stay in one place and spreads like plague in densely populated areas.
So I considered a centaur monstrous nomadic party for thst kingmaker. ;)
All centaur party.... or the 3pp Lapith would be really fun!
Numeria is now changed but still very cool place to Invade. >:)
The campaign I had Feldan in and a game here on the boards with my dragonrider Min are some of the few games that I was so involved and inspired that I was completely happy to just be a player. There have been others that come close but there is just somethin missing. That spark that makes the game so unique I dont feel the need to tweak it.
I have my homebrew game Skyfall but lately the players have all but fallen offsave for one. That one eas a unique game that I have carried forward from 2nd edition. I really wish there were more people (who weren't scary creepy) to form gaming groups where I live. :/
Really like the treesinger archetype for elves from the ARG. Its weird that the druid loses its wild empathy with animals in exchange for plant wild empathy.
But starting with a Treant companion. Which becomes large @ 4th level is awesome. Like really cool~
I also have everything in 3.x and forgotten realms. Got lucky and found an Amazon sale where each book was for less then a dollar. I spent more on shipping due to weight then on the books themselves lol.
Definitely~ its took seeking some advice in the forums and a gunslinger/alchemist has some decent combos that I didnt see at all. Granted Magus/alchemist is sick too lol, all those spells...
Gunslinger Wizard isn't a bad combo either~
However Mechanus solves my problems very well ♡♥♡. So far her new stats will be 12, 22, 12, 22, 12, 12. Which all around she will have +1 minimum and +6 in primary stats.
So 7 bombs at 1d6+6 dmg per day and 6 grit. :)
Grenadier allows me to even aim my gunslinger explosive rounds when I fire them since they are still considered a bomb.
Now that I found some decent combos and understand the inner workings more its coming together nicely~ ty for the help Korina. :D
Mechanist makes a nice anti mage gunslinger at higher lvls so thats not to bad. I am sad to drop the musket master and gulch gunner but thats the sacrifice for a nice synergy like this. :)
Now with her high int and low wisdom I can keep playing her like a bubbly airhead lol. Should have it finished up sometime today / tomorrow~
WEll found a Gunslinger arch that'll work better Mechanist, I can use Int instead of Wisdom for Grit. Which is awesome. So just need to add that and Chi will be mosty the same. It ruins the gulchgunner and musket masters so I become a Mechanist/Pistolere insteda. :/
So a Gunslinger (Pisteloro/Mechanist) / Alchemist (Grenadier)
With Stats of 12 str, 22 dex, 12 con, 22 int, 12 wis, 12 cha. = 28 points with the 1-1 for point buy.
Taking Mechanist so that Grit is based off of Int instead of Wisdom.
The 8th dwarf's suggestions were great, now I have to make sure the Archetypes won't fudge the idea of explosive missle stacking with alchemical weapon ability.
However with 1d6+6 bombs (6/days)
And A Total of Grit (6/day)
Its not a bad Gestalt combo. Now to work out the bugs...
