Backstory:

Chandria opens her eyes. She had fallen asleep in the study. Oak bookcases lined with dusty tomes and alchemical encyclopaedias surround her. She can barely move her wooden chair among all of the strange objects around her. She dusts her black, sinewy feathers off. In front of her, the latest writings from the popular explorer Qiang sit unfolded, covered in diagrams of beasts and their anatomy.

Qiang would often stop by, telling Chandria of his travels - what inventions he had come up with, what beasts he had observed - fascinating things to the wannabe alchemist. Chandria would jot down notes on everything she had been told, spending days reviewing them after Qiang takes leave.

She leans into his latest documents. "But this, why would I morph into that... and is the transition into one of these beasts against the elder's teachings..." She mumbles nonsense to herself. Years of studying alone and experimenting with alchemical mutagens had turned Chandria into something of a recluse. She was violently allergic to the scraps most commonly found in the slums, and this was one of the few things that would require her to make weekly visits to the local market in Port Peril.

Fascinated by the history of Golarion, when she wasn't toying with reagants, Chandria spent much of her time studying the cyclops empire of Ghol-Gan. What possible potions and devices could those ruins contain? Qiang often spoke to Chandria about about the possibilities, and Chandria was to meet him at the Formidably Maid tonight.

She makes her way down a bridge in Port Peril towards the tavern. A bit skittish and paranoid, she sits at the far corner bar stool, alone, and orders a mug of ale.

She takes a few sips, waiting impatiently for Qiang. She's starting to feel paranoid with all of the humans staring over at her. She is not welcome here.

She doesn't feel well.

Her vision starts to blur. She shakes her head violently, attempting to restore what she sees.

She falls on one leg, knocking the bar stool over, dropping her belongings and "coin." She starts to feel nauseous and weak.

The last thing Chandria remembers before she passes out is Qiang and two masked men walking in and dragging her out of the bar.

--

When she comes to, although she's angered, she quickly learns she is aboard a pirate ship, and is amazed at the beauty of the scenery. But what really gets her blood boiling is the potential of what discoveries this new adventure will lead to.

Appearance:

Chandria is a slender four foot five Tengu scholar. She wears a feathered cap, and a short red cape that runs down to her mid-back and adorns a gray cloth cloak, lined with pockets. Her eyes are black as coal and her beak curves out about three inches from her face.

She is missing a section of feathers from her left forearm, caused by the violent reaction of two unstable mutagens.

Motivation:

Chandria is driven by a thirst for knowledge. She's determined to learn what alchemy there is to know about the crumbling ruins of Ghol-Gan, and she idolizes the explorer, Qiang -- or at least, she used to -- and will do anything that will lead to new alchemical discovery.

Favourite colour:

Scarlet, as depicted by her cape. The red hue helps Chandria's inner creative fires ignite.

Favourite meal:

It has been years since Chandria has eaten a proper meal, what with living in the slums. The finest plums of the land are among her favorites; the juicier and plumper, the better.

Theme Tune:

Probably this one!
