As they travel back, Chance will touch bases with Stuinvolk and see how effective the removal of the curse was with his emotional healing, trying to subtly nudge him in the right direction to become a productive and active agent once again.

I initially had Naevys, Kenza and Stuinvolk life-linked. With Stuinvolk up top, I probably would have initiated the life-link with Jebediah, but apparently totally forgot to put it in. Let's see if it matters...

Chance's smile becomes a bit more whimsicial as the minor horde of undead insects does battle with his companions.

The one advantage of fighting undead - I don't have to worry about healing them on accident!

He focuses and allows an invisible pulse of positive energy to push out from his small form.
Standard Action: Channel Positive Energy to heal the living, Chance gets +4 from the total rolled: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 1 = 6

Almost before the wave of energy has washed out its full thirty feet, one hand shifts from the spear in a circular pattern, realigning his own healing energy before returning to the spear haft.
Swift Action Healer's Way for self-healing: 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 2 = 9

RE: Math. With the updated healing I'm showing it's one point of damage each on Kenza and Jebediah as Chance would have only taken ten points at the top of the round. If you're ok with Chance having opted to life-link Jebediah, it would be one point for Kenza and Chance.

Chance is a helpful halfling, but Pei-Zin and Dual-Cursed are mutually exclusive archtypes as both affect class skills, so Chance doesn't actually have Misfortune.

Undead swarms... Chance muses aloud, his grin growing a touch feral as he moves a bit past Jebediah to make sure all of the unliving creatures are in range as he releases a burst of positive energy, it's metaphysical frequency tuned to harm the unliving this time, rather than mend the living.

Goddess! How do you have 77 organized play characters? I can barely keep the 16 I have straight.

For a time I was playing or GM'ing 5 or 6 games a month. I also used to have a lot of extra time at work and some of them were made primarily to understand how the classes functioned and got little, if any, play. Five were for Core and have never been played, since the only reason I built them was that I felt I needed to have Core characters as a store coordinator in order to facilitate Core play at that store.

As the scream rips through the night, Chance stands and casts a bless spell, bolstering his companions attacks.

He looks around briefly then gets a slightly worried look as he realizes the geography of the camp could prove most unfortunate. Even as he's opening his mouth to say something, he looks up as the flaming cat-shaped monstrosity leaps at him.

Oh, shi-! he manages before falling unconscious beneath flashing fangs and claws and no small amounts of halfling blood.

Jeb notices that his wand was more effective than might be expected...

Chance looks from Naevys to Stuinvolk.

I think what she's saying is that there is something that is tying this entity to you. Perhaps something long buried in your heart and in your past. We know that this trip has brought up many old pains and it seems that this creature is seeking to bring them to the fore with its taunts and its screams. Perhaps you can tell us more about it and that may help you let go of some of that pain. Perhaps in letting go of some of that pain, it will have less power over you and less power from you.

Rising from the campfire, smoldering and soaked in almost equal measure, Chance takes stock and then beams with his familiar smile.
Well, that could have gone far worse.

He looks at Jakob in confusion.
Where did you come from? How did you do that? ... it's like you vanished as soon as that thing showed up.
He pauses and then looks at the barrels and crates then adds in a lower voice.
You may also want to move your Chelish mistress' beauty products out of the way somewhere. I didn't say anything about where they came from during the fight, but they did get in her way.

I'm a bit late to the party with the out-of-combat healing as I was running late this morning and could only get in a very brief post, but if anyone still needs any, please call out.
Also, GM, do our "per days" reset in the morning or was the attack late enough that we have expended them throughout the next day?

As I can only lifelink 3 and the other is Stuinvolk, I couldn't lifelink Jeb. I tried to get an angle on him, but the only other direction I could go is down and the map ends, so that wasn't really an option for PbP (I'm assuming the stone henge-looking objects would block the burst if I went behind them).

Managing damage-wise, I'm good ... 15 damage from lifelink (2 rounds of Naevys, 1 round of Kenza) and 17 healing (6 from the swift-action LoH and 7+4 for 11 from the channel energy) means I could have actually healed 3 points of fire damage if needed, assuming it triggered as soon as I was standing in it and not a round later.

Dropping the spear, Chance shifts his free hand over the invisible auras aligning his form and shifts his energies into a healing overdrive. He then walks over towards the fire and releases a pulse of healing energy, the invisible wave stopping just shy of the cat-like entity.

You were likely in a hurry when you built this for them. Perhaps you should take a moment now to say a few words. You may not have another opportunity to do so and it may help with some of the grief to give words to your loss. Perhaps even to tell us a bit about them, that they may live on in another way.

Chance's smile fades a bit and his eyes turn thoughtful in memory.

I did have a Chelaxian owner - though they were a diabolist, and therefor not what I would consider "sensible". They traded me to the jadwiga there in exchange for some sort of political considerations in Irrisien at the bidding of their devil master.

The halfling shakes his head a bit, clearing the memories with some effort and looks around the campsite.

A pit would likely take far too long to dig and would hamper us as much as it would hamper anything else. Snares, bells, or some sort of artificial barrier to slow it and give us additional warning is probably the best we could hope for, but I have no experience with such things.

Chance looks over at Stuinvolk, glancing hopefully at the fire as the food cooks.
I'm not particularly observant and most of the time, my vision is no better than that of a human, so I'm probably one of the worst to take a watch. That said, I should probably prepare to be a bit better at my purpose here.

The smiling halfling digs out six sets of matching rings, placing 6 on his own various fingers. The rings do not appear to be particularly valuable and each has a small geometric shape on it matched by its slightly larger twin. The loops of the rings do not completely close on the bottom, allowing them to be adjusted for differing ring sizes. He hands one to each of his companions, excepting Jakob and any of the mounts or animal companions.

He pauses a bit as he hands the rings to Naevys, Kenza, and Stuinvolk and then smiles around at his group.

The rings are a focus for a spell that will allow me to absorb some injuries done to you into myself at close range. I've also linked my own health to three of you, which will cause minor injuries done to you to shift to me, both alerting me to danger if I'm asleep as well as allowing me to more efficiently heal any damage dealt.

The rings are the focus components to the Watchful Eye spell and Naevys, Kenza & Stuinvolk have been life-linked.

Chance snickers a bit.
Driven by rage and not enough vowels? - sounds like one of my owners, who was fey, back before I bought my freedom

He pauses.

Well, they're still fey, I'm sure. Me buying my freedom had little effect since they had already sold me. Not that my freedom would have changed them, I mean... just... never mind.

Yes, Stuinvolk. Again. It's the same sound as last night. Don't let it rattle you - especially as the Mzali are likely watching. Don't give them the satisfaction of seeing fear.

Chance looks confused for a moment, then beams his normal disarming smile.

Oh yes, of course. We should definitely fear that they will get bored and kill us.

We believe that it is just beyond your lands. That said, we are outsiders here who do not know well the changes which may have occurred over the years in your borders and our guide to the creature we seek is the one who is cursed. We are on a mission to redress a wrong and would not seek to create another wrong by telling you a thing which is untrue, even if we were not aware of it.

While Naevys is addressing the Mzali, Chance sends them a reassuring smile and tries to calm down Stuinvolk.

Do calm down, Stuinvolk. We are trying to see that no other Pathfinders are killed or maimed, including ourselves. Will more and greater bloodshed bring back your deceased companions?

Chance's smile fades briefly, becoming somewhat serious and then looking exaggeratedly relieved.
