This is the only substitution allowed in these scenarios So, no channel energy for clerics in Season 0. Whoah! Is that true? I've definitely messed that up a few times then.

When presented as anecdotal it is useful. When stated as fact its misleading.

Thankfully a wand of Blood Money is all but worthless because it bumps the casting time up to a standard action.
Are there even any immediate action spells with material components over 25gp?
Belladonna Blayze of Andoran wrote: Can I use my Prestige points to eventually pay for a resurrection for Bertram? No.
You can't use Prestige for spellcasting services for anyone but you.
Bertram doesn't have any chronicle sheets, therefor he doesn't exist.
thistledown wrote: I think the spell Blood Money should be banned from society play. Players are avoiding the material costs on everything just with a single charge of a first level wand. Today they had to use a whole 3 charges to cast raise dead and two restorations, with a total of 1210 gold for the services.
It is overpowered and skews the expected expenditures over the course of the character.
I don't think its unreasonable to go back and fix their chronicles. This is an insane abuse of raise dead and restoration.

Oh?
Thank you for addressing this rumor.

Dhjika wrote: Michael Brock wrote: Mark and I discussed this. The scenarios are to be GMed as written. This isn't a grey area. I'm more concerned with a GM who thinks he can adequately adjust a scenario to better challenge the party and then kills PCs because extra creatures were added, or harder DCs were assigned to traps, or a coup de grace not written in the tactics, or any number of other circumstances a GM could change. There also is the added consideration that if a GM increases the difficulty of a scenario, you are also burning up more resources of the PCs that other players didn't have to, thus causing the PCs at your adjusted scenario table to spend more gold than they should have had to. It opens a Pandora's Box that just doesn't need to be opened. GM the scenarios as written please.
So if a coup de grace is not listed in tactics - that is not done. Understood.
Does this also apply to non coup attacks on downed PCs? (from another thread where the question has arisen)
TIA Dhjika, no. If that were the case then enemies would never use that scroll of levitate that is in there inventory but not listed in their tactics.
What it means to me is, the tactics listed in the scenario should be followed.
It is also a by-product of the fact that campaign staff will never publicly condone GMs Coup de graceing PCs.

Patrick Harris @ SD, the poster, pupsocket retracted their statement soon after. Its obvious they were just blowing some steam.

The animal is an NPC controlled by the GM, with the player getting to make handle animal rolls (I don't want to reopen the Animal Companion discussion, but in my mind a purchased animal CLEARLY falls into this category).
So, your bison goes into the dungeon. Oops. Scary undead. Bison panics. "Accidentally" tramples PC as it runs away from the scary undead.
Problem solved.
As far as I can see the above is totally within my rights as a GM.
Being the softy that I am, I'd actually warn the player in advance of the likely consequences. And might even roll dice to determine what the animal did as opposed to just using pure GM fiat.
If he still wants to bring his tiger or bison that is fine with me.
Even in PFS it really isn't wise to try and beat the GM with some obviously hosey tactic. We have lots of cards up our sleeves if we want to play them. Legal ones like above, focus firing, coup de Gracing, etc. And I've heard rumours that some GMs "accidentally" make mistakes that end up killing a character.
I find the above to be somewhat offensive, and I fear I would have to leave your table if you did that to someone when I was playing for you. /takes notes

re: no more faction missions
Is that true? That's really stupid. And what's even worse is that none of this info is available anywhere else but youtube.
Also, what in the bloody hell is the point of having a profanity filter if you don't let it do its work?
Ummm lazaRX, ALL season 4 has adjustments for four person tables.
Sadly no. Not in PFS play.

How about riding dogs. Those things suck. They completely unbalance Tier 1-2 scenarios.
Quote: Keen
Price +1 bonus
Aura moderate transmutation; CL 10th; Weight —
DESCRIPTION
This ability doubles the threat range of a weapon. Only piercing or slashing melee weapons can be keen. If you roll this special ability randomly for an inappropriate weapon, reroll. This benefit doesn't stack with any other effects that expand the threat range of a weapon (such as the keen edge spell or the Improved Critical feat).
There is a reason they put the bolded portion into the Keen enchantment section.
While having a Bastard Sword that crits on a 14-20 is cool, there is a reason its not possible(or is it?).

Nebten, I was not at 27 fame! I had played up my last five scenarios and had received a "Butt Load" of gold in comparison to my level/fame.
WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
And NO, I am not going to say what I did... maybe later. After I recover a bit.... It was bad enough suffering through the weekend (we had a big weekend) with only being able to use the second enchantment TWICE - just two hits over four scenarios.
So, having being saved by all you OUTSTANDING folks.... I am going to just start a new thread to request suggestions on what enchantment to purchase.
Thanks all!
You still played a session with this weapon enchantment which makes it yours to keep.
This also makes me happy the campaign rules are changing so people can't "play up my last five scenarios" and game the system.
So what is this thread about now?
Each novel *will have a boon...
Because the rules forum exists for a reason, yo answer questions about rules.
Is that like when someone says they are Zarta Dralneen's cousin or the Bishop of the Church of Saranrae in Absalom?

Halfling Zen Archer works well mechanically. I assumed, as BNW probably did, that "fundamentals of my race/class conflicting" implied mechanical conflicts like you'd see trying to build a melee halfling monk. Small size and strength penalties are pretty crippling for an already relatively weak melee class.
Combine that and it sounded like you were building ineffective characters is good for role-play. Well guess that makes sense. Cause i was like woah... I was the biggest damage dealer in my group, besides the mage. Sad when the archer is out-damaging the melee fighter. Its not surprising to someone familiar with the classes and powers available in the PFRPG. Zen Archers are one of the most twink archetypes you can get.
I have popsicle stick puppets for every venture captain and npc for every scenario I run. They store nicely in a plastic sleeve.
I totally agree with you, LazrX.
OK, thanks Netopais. Let me know if you ever experience otherwise.

Andrew Christian wrote: For instance, by what you are saying, I couldn’t fudge a die roll to stop from killing a 7 year old girls Kitsune character. I’d have to possibly traumatize her, leave her balling her eyes out, and maybe never play the game again leaving one more young girl in the hands of Barbie and Ken, instead of Ambrus Valsin and Zarta Dralneen. You make some very good points for requiring a minimum age for PFS. That girl is too young to play PFS if you aren't able let the dice fall where they may. Unless this was her first ever session. But being that she has a Kitsune boon I'm guessing this isn't a brand new player.
What are the rest of the PCs at the table supposed to feel after you turn the monster's attention away from the 7 year old? They'll feel picked on is what. Inside they'll be thinking, damn if that player wasn't a little girl that giant horrible monster would have continued attacking her until she was unconscious but the GM is obviously pulling his punches. Guess I get to take the full force of the monster now.
Codanous wrote: I think for PFS what we have to consider is that none of us are actually Game Masters, Michael Brock, The Decimvirate, is the one true game master and we are but judges that help facilitate his campaign.
If he tells us not fudge rolls, which the guide does indeed say that, its our job to not ruin his game and play it with the intent he would want.
In a home game, if a friend asks for a back up GM for a night, as the back up GM you can't go crazy and start dropping magic items like candy at a parade or suddenly changing the established rules because you play it a little differently. That'd be ruining the intent of the original GM's game.
In the end, PFS is about RAW, and rules as written state that we as Gamemasters can't fudge dice because that is cheating.
What is the difference between a Game Master and a Gamemaster? I've never seen them split like that before.
The reason this isn't and shouldn't be quantified in the PFSGtOP is because it isn't quantifiable.
Oh so you are just asking about Cavalier mounts now? Not pal/cav/druids?
I'd say no because it would be too hard to categorize what exactly is and isn't new player information.
Plus there is an entire page with How to get started resources.
The gamemastery guide is the only Paizo hardcover I would recommend not buying. Or at least don't make it a priority.
re:difficult 1-5s Neatoliss listed
Some of those aren't hard. Some of them are. Which is why de facto "these are really hard scenarios" lists aren't very helpful without much more explanation.
You have a link with your animal. Meaning getting it to do tricks 'just happens' and then you make your HA roll.
You still have to make handle animals checks. Even if it has an Int of 18.
Paladins, cavaliers and rangers all get different types of companions/mounts they can pick.
Peter Kies wrote: I presume the intelligence stat for the mount just increases from the base as it must be "at least 6". You assume incorrectly. Please refer to the animal companion advancement chart in the core rulebook. Most companions start with a 2 intelligence.
Thanks to Paizo's OGL license excellent websites such as d20PFSRD can exist.
They take data and do handy things with them like put them into spreadsheets.
Behold the Magic Items DB.
So to answer the OP's question, No there is not PFS policy about tablets at tables.
/dust off hands
That was easy!

Wizard and Barbarian are allies.
Wizard uses a lesser rod of reach to cast a Fly spell on the Barbarian who is 15' away.
Our GM ruled that the wizard had to make an attack roll in order for the wizard to touch the barbarian.
Does this mean that the willing ally of the Wizard is for some reason trying to avoid a beneficial buff spell from his party member? Wouldn't it succeed no matter what if the Barbarian is willing?
Does the Barbarian have to add his Dex Modifier to his touch AC? If yes, why and what page is that rule on? If no, why and what page is that rule on?
I'm going to start requiring all my buffers to roll touch attacks to buff willing allies every time now. It'll slow down the game some but at least I can never be accused of not running RAW.
Hahaha. OK buddy, OK. You win.
At your table.
Tell me this, RE, do you require clerics to roll d20, add their BAB, Strength Modifier and other applicable modifiers when she attempts to use Cure Light Wounds on an ally?
