Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 "! There, it's right there!" Celowyn yells, indicating the spot with her bow. "I think I can even see an outline!" Not wanting to let the opportunity pass, she quickly fires off two more shots with her bow. Attack (Longbow; FE, PB Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 4 = 21

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 Hoping that dropping their unseen foe would also banish the two newly-arrived ghosts, Celowyn quickly fires off two additional arrows at the formidable ghost. Attack (Longbow; FE, PB Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 4 = 16

Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 Celowyn whips around, certain that the blow she just took came from directly behind her. Tired of getting smacked around, she hastily takes a step back and allows her longsword to clatter to the ground as she draws her longbow instead. Squinting at the space in front of her, she raises her bow and fires a shot! Attack (+1 Darkwoood Comp. Longbow; FE, PB Shot, Precise Shot): 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 4 + 1 = 16
Celowyn takes a 5 foot step back, drops her longsword and draws her bow before firing.

Hey folks, this isn't 100% related to the most recent happenings in my life (which have included catching the flu and losing my grandmother) but it *has* given me time to think on things a bit and I've come to the decision that I need to lighten my PbP load by a few games. It's been a slow process but I think I've taken on more than I can really handle right now and the stress of trying to keep up with them all is starting to have a negative impact on my mood and capability to write. Rather than have all of my games suffer for it, I'd rather let a few go so I can better focus on the ones that remain (and have a little more free time for other hobbies again, too). It wasn't an easy decision to make (like picking among my non-existent children) but I believe this is one that I'm going to bow out of. It's been a fun game and my decision to bow out is in no way a reflection on the GM or the other players. In fact, this one bums me out because I'm a fan of Ravenloft and I'd love to see how the rest of the module plays out but I had to make some cuts somewhere...*sigh*. I'm sorry because I know we're not really in a good position for anyone new to come in and I hate to add to Haladir's work by asking him to bot Celowyn. I'm happy to stay long enough to help finish out this battle and then we can figure out what to do with the character from there; feel free to take her over as an NPC or send her away or kill her off as suits the story. No matter what, it's been a pleasure playing with everyone and I hope our paths will cross again in the future, hopefully under better circumstances for me. And there's a few of you that I'll still be seeing in other games too so I wouldn't be too sad :)

Having a good idea of where Theodora and Damion are aiming, Celowyn steps up to join them in the fray. As she does, she swings her longsword at what would appear to be empty air... Attack (MW Cold Iron Longsword; Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 = 12
...and cleaves exactly that - empty air!

Hey guys, I'm going to be pulling 12s at work for the next three days so you may not see much in the way of posts from me during that time. I'll try to check in/keep up as much as I can but it may not be until Friday night or Saturday before I'll get caught up. As always, feel free to bot me for combat/skill checks as needed!

Will (DC 14): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Celowyn gasps, the vision they'd just witnessed striking fear into her heart. She'd already known that Strahd was monstrous of course, but for him to have killed his own kin in cold blood...somehow that seemed the worst thing of all. Before she can gain her bearings she staggers as she suddenly takes a heavy blow directly in the face, though she sees nothing in front of her. She drops the little doll and hastily takes a step back along the wall as she draws her longsword. Unsure of where the attack came from, she adopts a defensive position. "Wha...what is it? Is it another ghost!?"
On her turn Celo takes a 5 foot step to the north, draws her longsword, and goes total defense. Her AC will be 21 for one round.

Kn. Geography: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Although Celowyn only pauses for a moment to peer at the strange curious from over Theodora's shoulder, her eyes are instantly drawn to the ring on the mummified hand. "Oh wow...that looks Osiriani in make," she comments. "I've never been there but I've sometimes seen trade goods and other things shipped from there." Moving on, her attention wanders over to the fireplace and the various tools resting nearby. Something odd about the poker catches her eye and she kneels down for a closer look. Wait...is that a...? She almost reaches out and tries pressing the poker downward but catches herself. "Hey, over here! There's something odd about the poker and the brickwork here. Maybe it's another hidden door?" Feel free to read Celowyn's spoiler now!

Celowyn instinctively takes a step back but then attempts to steel herself. Verran, tainted by the grave? It couldn't be... Stop it! He and the others came to help you and Dora against those ghosts. No matter what, he is a part of this group. "I'm sorry," she said quietly, feeling ashamed. "Isn't there anything else anyone can do for you?"

"Great, so Strahd or maybe one of his servants has been watching us since...well, maybe since we got here?" Celowyn sighs. "Nothing we can do about that now I suppose..." "If there's nothing we can do for the girl and nothing else to learn we should move on," she whispers to the others. "She'll probably be safer here for the time being anyway." Especially if she's here as a convenient food source for Strahd...

Although she doesn't recognize the tune, Celowyn hums along slightly as Gertruda sashays around the room. "It does sound really grand," she agrees. "And he's certainly been very kind to you...him and his servants, like you mentioned earlier. Have you met very many of them? What are they like?" Maybe we can get some information from her if we play things just right. It'd be handy to know who...or what...Strahd has at his beck and call.

As Gertruda shares her story, Celowyn shoots Theodora and Verran a worried look. Whatever reason Strahd invited her here for, it'll lead to nothing good! But do we try to tell *her* that or play along for now? We could probably learn a thing or two if we don't upset her... Giving some of the others a chance to chime in first since Celo feels a little conflicted on how to approach the situation!

"Whoops...I guess we gave who or whatever was in here quite a fright," Celowyn comments as it becomes apparent that they'd entered the room through a concealed door. "Leaving the book for now might be a good idea," she agrees as she makes her way over to the windows and peeps out. "We can always come back for it later if there's no one to claim it."
Inactive
Celowyn too creeps up to the door and presses her ear against it, frowning as she listens to the words. Then she quickly falls back to where the others wait. "I have no idea either," she whispers with a helpless shrug. "The language isn't one familiar to me. But it wouldn't surprise me if it were another restless spirit...or perhaps a guardian."
Inactive
"I didn't have the heart to tell her we already ran across what must've been one of her friends," Celowyn adds sadly. "It's not just Merick or our lives at stake but all the poor souls that are trapped here, too." "Whoever or whatever the Guardian of Sorrow is, we can't let them stop us from putting an end to Strahd!" she hisses.
Inactive
"I'm sure after the last time he's rebuilt his coffins and made them more secure," Celowyn agrees. "But at least now we know that we'll have to look for several and to expect them to be well-guarded or possibly trapped...probably both," she says grimly. "'Dora's got a good idea though; we should try and find the one up in the tower, if we can. It's a good a place to start as any."

"Theodora! Hold on!" Celowyn cries as she moves forward and fires off a shot at one of the spirits harrying the warrior. Attack (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Favored Enemy, Precise Shot, PB Shot): 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 35
Celo moves forward 20 feet before making her shot; can't move myself atm since I'm on mobile.

Though Damion and Countessa are also under attack, Celowyn maintains her focus on the spirit attacking Verran and fires another volley of arrows. As she does, she feels a surge of hope from Petracleus' song of better, warmer days...days she hopes they'll all see again. Attack vs. Spirit (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Favored Enemy, Precise Shot, PB Shot, Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 18
Attack vs. Spirit (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Favored Enemy, Precise Shot, PB Shot, Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 17

As the bulk of the spirits fall on the group Celowyn swiftly steps back and takes aim at the one menacing Verran, opening fire. Attack vs. Spirit (+1 Darkwood Comp. Longbow; Favored Enemy, Precise Shot, PB Shot, Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 4 + 1 - 2 = 30
Attack vs. Spirit (+1 Darkwood Comp. Longbow; Favored Enemy, Precise Shot, PB Shot, Rapid Shot): 1d20 + 10 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 4 + 1 - 2 = 14
Woo...think I got all the bonuses and penalties accounted for, but let me know if there are any questions on anything! Celowyn's bow is magical so it should at least help put a dent in these things.
