Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Surprise Round

Cebrë turns her back to the thugs and makes a gesture while speaking some arcane words (cast Silent Image). As a piece of fleece drops from her fingers, a group of six elven archers appears behind the house.@ Z26. Cebrë waves them over and they quickly move to the center of the road and draw their bows.

Mantooth Longbrow wrote:
Let us circle around once the halfling is in their sight. Right now they're alert and looking for trouble. Once Bofus presents himself, they'll be distracted enough for us to sneak around in our armor with ease."[/b]

That will not be enough distraction I fear - these sorts are likely to have sharp eyes and ears, distracted or not. Although I cannot yet communicate with Sirius the way I would like, I do share an empathetic link with the creature and I we will at least have a warning if any danger is present.

Cebrë nods to the sky. High above a hawk is circling.

I would suggest we all get of the road except Thordak and myself and find a safe place to observe behind cover. Thordak, I will follow you at a distance if you like. If we require haste, I will summon a steed for us.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

On their was out Cebrë catches Florence,

Florence, I think it's best if you're not holding that gem while you're on this mission. If you don't mind I'd like to keep it in my possession

As they leave the inn Cebrë walks outside a minute behind them...

Alright Sirius, it's time my friend...

The bird springs from her shoulder into the air and in single minute is soaring high above.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Actually, let me find the inn keeper and ask a favor first...

Cebrë slips off to find Yab.

DMHW:
Cebrë asks the gnome if she can perform a bit of magic in the cellar (if there is one) and promises to clean up after herself.

I'm assuming I have time to complete the ritual?

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2
Thordak son of Throtgar wrote:

He then turns to Cebre. Cebre, how long does it take to do... Wotever hocus pokus you wanna do? You should get on that if you wanna be done by sundown...

And back to Bofus. Oh, right, communicatin'... How 'bout a whistle? Eeh, maybe it's easier just to shout though...

I agree, I must get started right away - Anyone willing to keep me company (I'd rather not be ambushed, I'll need my full concentration)?

The "hocus pokus' as you call it will likely prove very valuable in allowing us to communicate with each other, otherwise I would be expending my time and energy to perform it.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

If we're going let the carriage get out of the city we're going to need mounts. I gather Matthias has a steed, I may summon one as well. That is, unless we know for sure where they are headed and by which road ahead of time - not likely we'll have that information I fear.
I'm sure you're a great tracker Thordak, but you're no match for the speed of a carriage.
About the other summon - I could perform the ritual indoors, but our dear gnome will be most unpleased with the condition I leave my room. I'll inquire if I may use the cellar. In any case we should begin to prepare soon - they day is waning fast!

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

We need a way to communicate between each other so the others may react to any given situation. I don't have any spells prepared that I think will be especially useful in this regard - perhaps Florence has prepared something. On the other hand, if I may get away for a few hours and have the assistance of a guard I will be able to summon a friend who will be very useful for carrying messages

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Well, I know nothing of such organizations Bofus so I will trust your logic on the infiltration option. I hope I may be able to offer some assistance but it appears you and Florence will mostly be relying on each other. As the Thordak has said, we will be ready to act if things turn sour. May the gods help them if it comes to that.

Cebre crosses her arms and scowls.

I think I remember this ruffian Rotskill; I remember being very angry for some reason when I think about his name.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë finishes reading the account Mantooth has written of their adventures and sighs.

Well, alright, I have a more or less complete picture of who you all are and what's been happening. I also have enough information to explain what has happened to me, although I doubt you have the interest level to sit through the tale.
I do have a few suggestions to make:
Number one; understand what the Dragon's eye gems are and why they are so valuable to someone. I believe I may assist on that account if I may be allowed to examine the gems.
Number two; Figure out exactly who we are up against and why they are going through so much trouble to apprehend are dear trickster here. A direct assault seems ill advised based on our current information. Orchestrating an escape seems more than possible given our collective talents and may, in fact yield some of the information we are seeking. Bofus would no doubt have several chances to learn things during his detainment. With a clever use magic and our wits we may, in fact come out ahead. Of course the halfling may be subjected to a life of slavery if we fail...

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë walks in the door and immediately notices Lockstar and the half-orc.
She looks at Bofus and nods to the newcomers,

These two aren't with you guys are they?
Anyway...I see something has been written on my parchment - you have my thanks

She walks over and begins reading what Mantooth has written.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:
Components for summoning as described in Cebrë's tome:

• 2 gems worth 100gp
• Lock of hair from the master
• Blood of the master (enough to write one rune)
• A stone
• A branch from a tree
• A summoning circle

The circle contains 49 runes and 7 inner circles.
In each inner circle is one of the components above.
Each circle and rune is proceeded by an incantation.

8 hours total to perform.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë watches Bofus leave and turns to the others.

Alright, well, it appears whatever the objective is some scouting is in order. If you please, I would request someone would recount the past events here on parchment so that I may understand what in the nine hells I have gotten myself into. I have something that may give us a tactical advantage but it looks like haste is in order.

She sets some parchment down on the nearest table, along with a quill and some ink.
She then retreats quickly from the inn.

DMHW:
Off to obtain the items needed to summon Sirius and perform the ceremony. I'd like to skip roleplaying this for now

Well, THERE'S something you don't see every day . . . so, you're saying you dont' remember us?? Weird. Note to self--watch out for reading strange books. Where'd you get this book, anyway? Something I musta missed . . .

Actually, I have a vague memory of you; I believe you once stole something from me - is that correct?

Strangely enough, the book in question is my spellbook. Perhaps we should discuss matters in private; I have some questions for all of you.... whoever all of you is.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2
Thordak son of Throtgar wrote:
Oh, hello everybody! Cebrë! Wot happened to you!? You been readin' that book? You know you've got to be careful with that sort of thing! Oi've heard of some mighty strange magicians put some mighty twisted magic in some o' them books... Oi wouldn't go readin' just any ol' book!

What happened to me? That is a very good question. It seems I may be suffering from temporary amnesia due the the juxtaposition of the intra-planar memories of the arcane transmigration.

My hypothesis is that I will suffer from some partial hypomnesia permanently, although some of my strongest memories may be regained.

"You friends left early this morning. I believe they had some shopping to do here on Market Street. They should be back anytime. While you wait for their return, you could sing a song for me. I hear you are quite the musician!"

Indeed? Well thank you Trabalard I believe I shall wait here then for their appearing. As for singing, I am afraid you may find the performance quite dull, I have no such talent for the art.

Florence wrote:
Ha! you should have asked me earlier, I knew black was exactly your colour Cebre...oh dear I sound like a governess, pah!

Ah, hello miss, may I assume you are Florence? I am pleased you approve of the change for the garments. I found the previous chromaticity of the fabrics entirely appalling.

Mantooth wrote:
"You've changed your hair color again? If it really is that easy, maybe you could show Matthias how to do it and Humphrey could have a newly colored mane."

I assure you it is the easiest of tasks sir....

Cebrë pauses here as if expecting Mantooth to interject his name...
...but what possible purpose would doing such a thing serve?

DM Harpwizard wrote:
"Don't strain yourself Master Fortkeep. I'm right here. Good morning Mam, I trust you slept well last night! How can I help you?"

Good morning Sir. Do you perhaps know the whereabouts of Florence or any of her associates?

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:

Cebrë examines her strange surroundings.
She becomes suddenly aware she is in her undergarments and looks around for clothing.
Seeing some garments neatly folder in the corner of the room along with adventuring gear she begins to dress in the available garment.

She then stops and remembers the wizard's first rule - to prepare the spells you may need for the day.

Well, I know nothing of where I'm at so I'll prepare the basics

So, for an hour she studies her spells - a mix of useful spells seems best. She also reads the requirements for summoning her familiar.

She then casts Predigitation and forms a small crude mirror from magic.
She sees a distorted reflection of herself, but it is enough to remember.
Yes, I remember what I look like...but I don't recall the red hair

She utters a few arcane words and removes the dye from her hair. She then examines her clothing and frowns,

What a messy person! and with a few more arcane words cleans and removes every wrinkle from her clothes before staining them black with the magic the spell allows her.

Cebrë leaves her room and walks into the main room of the inn. She is reading a letter. After stowing away in a pouch she asks the nearest patron,

Excuse me, where may I find the proprietor of this establishment?

Her hair is bright blonde and pulled back in a neat arrangement. Her manner, although far from rude may be considered austere to some.
Every bit of her clothing is black.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:

The young aasimar sit for several minutes in contemplation of the last words he's read, his last command from the Master and his confused thoughts.
Out of the chaos, he suddenly makes a decision;

It's no use, something compels me to proceed.I must understand the mystery....
Láta breyta hefjast.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DM Harpwizard:

The aasimar reads the magical inscription and examines the opals with interest.

Kamkara, The Arcane Transmigration of Souls. Well, I have the title now. However, exactly what is the transmigration of souls? Where would Master Lestarian want this placed? I am fairly sure I should find out what this is about before sorting it...ah, yes...the lock is obvious...

The young man sighs and touches the opals in the order of the letters K,A,M,K,A,R,A.

DMHV wrote:
Strangely, you come across an old tome that you vaguely remember. This book is 18 inches tall, a foot wide, and it is about an inch and a half thick. The book’s cover is made out of thin copper plates covered with wyvern hide. The book has four translucent opals embedded in the corners of the front cover. There is a silver lock on the front of the book set with 3 small pearls, but no key hole.

The young aasimar rubs his chin for a moment trying to remember where he has seen the book.

That's most peculiar indeed, that book seems somehow familiar.

He picks the book up and examines in closely.

I wonder what Master Lestarian's logic was in keeping this book here. Perhaps he is testing me. I am certain this book is misplaced and should be returned to it's proper place. Obviously, the writing needed to identify it is magical...

The boy casts Read Magic and watches for the result.

I won't assume anything else!

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:

Cebrë pushes the book away and closes her eyes for several minutes, thinking about the implications of what she may do next.

After a deep breath, she takes out parchment and composes a letter:

Dear Friends,
If all goes well I may be reading this letter myself.
If all goes ill;
Close the book and never attempt to open it!
Use all my possessions for the furtherance of our cause.
Please return my body to a temple of Shelyn.
Cebrë

She folds the letter and writes on the outside;
To Florence and Company

She takes off all but her undergarments and arranges them in the corner of her room. She then sits upon the bed.

Cebrë takes another deep breath and reads the words aloud;
Láta breyta hefjast.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:

Ah..could it be?
Did I miss the forest for the trees?

Cebrë activates the ring again (if nothing is glowing) and touches the opals in this order;
Z,a,m,z,a,r,a

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:

Zamzara, what is your secret?
Cebre tilts her head for a moment and rotates the book so the "Z" appears in the upper left corner.
She touches opals, then the pearls in this order;

Opal:A, Pearl:1st or left
Opal:Z, Pearl:2nd or Middle
Opal:A, Pearl:3rd or Last.

She will also speak the names of the letter in all the languages she knows and try different combinations of touching the pearls and opals; looking for any effect on the lock.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DM Harpwizard:
Cebrë looks through her spell pouch and recovers the ring she found on he old man.
She rubs the ring for a moment, remembering the old soul's passing, then slips it on her right hand.

She passes her hand over the pearls, then the opals, admiring the work of it's maker.

She then furrows her brow and focuses on triggering the power of the ring...

Spellcraft:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:
Please see my above post to Florence;
I am trying to catch up the RP a little so I'm assuming the following is okay:
1. Cebrë has thought about nothing but the Tome since she received it but hasn't done more than crack the cover.
2. Cebrë took a peek at the tome before bed.
3. She started reading seriously before breakfast.
4. She is now continuing to read with the intention of reading all of it.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Florence:

Sorry haven't posted - real life has been a pain.
Anyway, I want to fill in some stuff

When Florence went up to sleep, Cebrë had the tome she recieved from Jarmaath resting on top of her chest, with her arms wrapped around it.
If Florence sleeps light, she may have hear Cebrë muttering in elven throughout the night.
In the morning Cebrë awoke early and was deep in concentration, staring at the book. If Florence said anything Cebrë would have smiled looked up quickly and said, morning dear and resumed her intense concentration.

Cebrë walks in, requests some toast and a glass of wine.
Her hair is disheveled and she is not completely dressed. She doesn't seem to notice anyone.
After receiving the toast and wine she returns to her room without a sound, apparently in a daze.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë is also amused at Bofus' exuberance concerning the beer and laughs merrily.

Well, friends, this has been a very eventful day. May you rest well this evening.

Cebrë slips away after a wave to the group.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë kneels and kisses his hand, she doesn't say anything but simply looks into his eyes and gives a quick nod.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2
Bofus Beerswizzler wrote:
Hey guys, I'm feeling a little jumpy. I'm going to go hide within spitting distance while we wait. I'll come out when Jarmaath appears, and I'll try to warn y'all if I see anything funny.

Good idea Bofus.

I agree, I'm not comfortable at all.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë continues to study the aura, then suddenly, she claps her hands together.

Ah yes....this is a potion that allows one to understand languages...
And the gems...well, they should make things clearer, you know; see better as you look through them...there's something else about them though...not really sure what it means but has to do with conjuring magics....maybe after a good rest I'll be able to make it out.
Anyway...let's go out at have some more wine, shall we?

DMHW:
Okay, I'll try again after level up then.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

DMHW:

"Through the use of detect magic (page 267) you are able to determine the following"

I think we're on the same page here right (Knowledge Arcana rolled to determine aura type)?
I don't roll SC unless there's an actual aura detected - is this confusing you? Would you me rather just make both the Knowledge & SC rolls together?

Anyway, here are the SC rolls:

Spellcraft (potion):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Spellcraft (gem#1):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Spellcraft (gem#2):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

hmm...Well, that potion has some sort of divination magic about it....the gems, ah! these look interesting - they're sisters....they appear to have a couple of auras....very interesting!....ah the dowel....it apears.... to....be.....umm....wood!

Cebrë laughs but continues to examine the auras muttering arcane words under her breath

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Huzzah!

Hit points:1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7(CON + Fav Class)

As you know, there are several things on my character sheet that aren't complete so I'd like to get those fixed... email?

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë drinks her wine and smiles, obviously enjoying Florence's song.

After the song is finshed, she replies to Bofus;

Most likely, if the magic is strong enough - I may even have some sort of idea of what it does. Why don't you follow me up to my room with the items...Florence, you want to bring your things up?

Assuming Bofus and Florence agree to come to her room:

Cebrë leads them to her room, on her way she puts the bag of gold she received from the dwarf on the table in from of Mantooth kissing him on the cheek as she leans over.

She then continues to her room;

Cebrë closes the door, puts both items on a table (or nightstand) and casts detect magic. She sits and studies the auras studiously for several minutes.

Now, you'll have to be a bit patient Bofus...like I told you before, this takes some time, depending on the strength of the magic; if there is any....

Knowledge,Arcana (potion):1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Knowledge,Arcana (gem)1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

@Cabre: I wouldn't worry TOO much, at least not yet. If anything, he's going to come right after ME, for two reasons. One, something tells me he's not the most gracious fellow at having been bested so badly. Two, I'm certain he *really* wants the Eye of the Dragon, and he knows I have it. That's a topic to discuss over a drink, I think there's more to that gem than the fact that it's shiny!

Well, just remember what happened the last time we were at the Wyvern - I may not be able to scare them off so easily!

Cebrë laughs at the memory of Rotskill running out of the inn.

This was said before we got to the inn

Cebrë laughs a little and smiles warmly at Bofus.

When he mentions trouble, her eyes widen a bit and she leans in closer, keeping her voice low;

Well, I knew you were expecting trouble so I didn't worry too much. Although, I will have to admit I am well pleased to see you safe and sound. You really are a very clever fellow! I'll relay this to the others

Cebrë then straightens and wears another smile.

See you at the gate then!

She will attempt to make her way to the others one by one and say something like, "Bofus advises to keep an eye out for Rotskill - may be trouble"

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë shows up to congratulate the winner.

She claps enthusiastically for Bofus and occasionally lets out a loud cheer.

Ha! I told them you were very clever!

Cebrë's hair has but cut to just above her shoulders and dyed a deep red. Her clothes have been replaced and a dagger now hangs from her belt.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë lags behind the others in trying to find a suitable replacement for her damaged clothing (and a few other things).

dmhw:

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Welcome back to NO WATER!

:(

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë laughs at Florence's antics.
She tosses one of the coins in her hand and whistles.

I wonder how our little pip-squeak is doing?

She stops tossing the coin and tilts her head.

I bet he's doing well - he's quite clever you know.

ROUND 3

Seems we have a big rat chasing a little rat!

Cebre takes aim at the Blackscarzi Thug with her wand.

Wand of Magic Missle, DMG: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 2) + 3 = 10

That had to hurt...

Cebrë flips her hair and points the wand at one of the other thugs.

Well, at the moment I must go and attend to my guest."

Jarmaath reaches over and gives the half elf a warm embrace and a kiss on the cheek.

"Enjoy the rest of your day. I look forward to seeing you tonight. Fare well!"

Cebrë smiles warmly, and replies.

Until tonight then, my lord.

After he departs Cebrë looks down at her tattered clothes and frowns.

Well, one thing is for sure - I need some new clothes. I wonder if I have a prize coming for winning the contest, that might help.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

I should have known you broke it down into 3X3 squares, since the 6X6 puzzle had no definite solution. That and being too busy to give it adequate thought...having the dwarf solve the puzzle was sort of insulting LOL.

Anyway, hope all the local folks are above water today!

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Cebrë steps through the arch after Thordak, shaking her head.

Okay, I knew I was missing something - but to have that puzzle solved by an insane dwarf...oh, it's been a *very* long day.

Female Half-Elf Wizard/2

Stumblemoss, can you please recount how you got this far?
For my challenge, there many things that needed to be done before I could activate the portal. I suspect we're missing something here besides the tablet - I'm fairly sure I got that part right.
