Thinking in it, Murphy answers the question raised him.

"Well, I think you are a different person than you used to be. You used past tense when speaking about clothes you've worn. I'm not too bright, but I can see that it's personal. Whether that was a lifetime ago or 10 weeks ago before we met, it doesn't matter does it?"

Finishing his first and pouring himself a second, the Irish Elf continues.

"You talk about the elephant in the room like you want to talk to it. There are always other ways, like using an elephant gun. You get a nice trophy, but then you can never go back and fix what you've done. Although, something tells me that when you do fix that problem, you'd rather not look back."

Waiting for AL, Murphy twiddle his thumbs for a bit feeling awkward. Thinks for a minute and opens his mouth.

"Sooooo, since we got a minute to catch our breath anybody want to share anything? Like what you do, or why you are here. Great example, I'm former military. Supply officer, not front lines. Explains some of the spells I've picked up. I know we are supposed to act all professional but we aren't. We're expendable to a lot of the people who hire us. But I don't think that way."

Sipping some more, he asks the question that's been bugging him for a while.

"Hawa, you don't seem to be the type to crawl around down here. In the shadows i mean. How far did you fall? Not gonna ask from where nor is this a cheesy pickup line because you'd shoot me for that."

Murphy slides the number he gets to AL.

"Hey, can you do a preliminary check on this number. Guy supposedly sells scrap to these people. Could be our way in if we play our cards right. Bobbi, do you have anybody to call?"

-Posted with Wayfinder

"Only way I'm finding anything out about this number is if AL looks it up, or I call it."

Imbibing from his beer once again, Murphy kicks back and relaxes for a bit.

"Ed doesn't screw me over when he does have info. Well he hasn't in the past, so I'm willing to just call the number but I'd rather have AL check it out just to be on the safe side."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy casually steps up to the bar intending to get the rules and a drink.

Etiquette: 9d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 1, 5, 6, 4, 6, 5) = 42 6 successes, methinks Murphy may have been here before.

Some chitchat, him pointing to his shirt, and a few minutes later, the Irish Elf wanders over to the groups booth with a pitcher of beer and some glasses.

"So, what's everybody plannin'? Also check it out, got a number from the cutie at the bar. Eh, maybe when we finish the job based on Hawa's look."

Placing the glasses on the table, he pours himself a glass and drinks deeply before surfacing for air and to talk.

"So we got a place, a couple of ins, some cash, and a job. What's next?"

-Posted with Wayfinder

Just looking for clarification on Los I guess. Because any tricks we can use the Gm can use against us.

-Posted with Wayfinder

I figured not powerbolt/mana bolt. But spells like demolish or destroy object, but the specialized ones that have a lower DV for specifying an object like cameras and such.

-Posted with Wayfinder

"I know a bar downtown that might make a better setting for a discussion. We can always hail a cab over there. The owner tends to look the other way for certain types of people as long as you settle your tab with a decent tip."

Murphy gets ready to call a cab. Not the finest way around but it would have to do.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Alright, on a weird note if I were to take the demolish x spell (like demolish comm link) and astrally perceive an internal comm link would I be able to target that? Taking all the penalties for perceiving of course.

-Posted with Wayfinder

What would the Telestrian Industries version of a stuffer shack be?

-Posted with Wayfinder

The Irish elf gives a thumbs up to the group that he's got a way in. He also sends 100 nuyen Ed's way.

"A hundred Ed? You shouldn't be so generous. Just send me that number and I'll get out of your hair. Say hi to the wife and kids for me. Little rascals gotta be bigger than me by now. But that's not saying much is it."

Waiting for a response he says goodbye to Ed and hangs up.

"Sooooo, I got a number. Anybody else got anything? And does anybody know where we can get some cheap comm links and medical supplies?"

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy thinks about what he knows about the area and shakes his head before putting a finger to his ear to make a phone call.

"Heeeey Ed, long time no talk. Hey, do you know anybody or any way into the plastic Jungles? I know some of your slums aren't too far away from them. You've probably traded with them before right? Payment? Of course. How about, well you name a price and I'll name a price I think is fair then I'll haggle you down like we always do."

Murphy listens while fiddling with a cred stick in his other hand, flipping it over his knuckles like a coin.

"Now, I'm not getting paid very well for this job so it can't be too much."

If Murphy can get real potatoes or wheat he's willing to spend a small fortune to make real alcohol. Not synthetic.Con: 14d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 5, 3, 6, 1, 2, 2, 1, 4, 6, 1, 6) = 48

A handful of successes to lie to greasy Ed about payment. I'm looking to spend about 500 tops for some info unless it's solid, then I'll spend more. Up to 1000.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy looks offended for a moment.

"You speak as if I haven't talked a nun into breaking her vows."

A smirk and short chuckle later he nods.

"I'm willing to negotiate, and I know a guy as well, but he probably isn't too well connected. Unless the jungle is next to Ed's slum, he's not going to know too much."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Before leaving, Murphy grabbed the envelope. Feeling for a cred stick just to make sure the group isn't getting hosed. Once outside he tucks it into his coat pocket.

"Whew, that Johnson did not like budging. I got lucky in there. As for a ride, I don't got one. I took a lift like I did last time. But we can afford a Johnny Cab. Plus the job doesn't have to get done tonight. We can case out the joint for a few days before doing anything serious."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Sorry, just got some time to post.

Thinking over the offer, Murphy removes his glasses and readies to close the deal.

"I don't see any reason why we cannot accept such a lucrative offer. Should be simple enough with a bit of legwork. I'm in. Anybody else?"

-Posted with Wayfinder

Taking another sip of his beer, Murphy smiles a bit.

"Well, maybe I could pick something up as an outside contractor after this. Nothing too serious. We all have reasons right? The newly agreed upon amount seems more than reasonable. Thank you for your generosity."

Could I theoretically become a Fixer? Nixing the middle man and swapping jobs with my current one and cherry picking from a larger list of jobs? Also through all of the negotiation, would anybody else with corporate knowledge be able to guess which Corp this guy works for?

-Posted with Wayfinder

Oh, throw in an extra +2 dice pool if this counts as bargaining.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Negotiation w/edge because: 20d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 4, 1, 1, 3, 1, 5, 3, 3, 6, 6, 1, 6, 6, 6, 6, 5, 2) = 76

Sure must Suck to be this guy right now.

Murphy just stares through his glasses waiting for an appropriate answer.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Seeing the display pop up on his glasses, the elf dismisses the messages and continues talking.

"Hmm, 4k for supplies and other things, 10k each for some data. I did ask earlier if we would receive a bonus if the good doctor were to accept such an offer. Perhaps we could negotiate a set number that can slid up or down depending on factors such as speed, well being, and secrecy of such a delivery? Of course we won't be doing such a thing unless the doctor wishes."

Murphy is trying to force the Johnson to float a number. If he doesn't it might mean that we get more than an additional button load.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Thinking numbers, and something seems wrong.

"If he plays his cards close to his chest, and say the only copy is on the Dr's person or stored physically on Mr Solus, would you like to meet him? If the Dr comes with us for said reasons or accepts said offer would there be room for a bonus? Great numbers, don't think I want to change anything around at this time, but I'd like to leave the door creaked open just in case."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Enthusiasm, check. Willingness to answer questions, great. Now for the nitty gritty nuyen

-Posted with Wayfinder

Waiting until AL got a response, Murphy realizes he needs to ask about compensation.

"And how much is the information and a job offer worth? I apologize I didn't get who would be offering a position. Clarity is a powerful tool when relaying information."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Leaning back, Murphy quiets a burp and excuses himself. The elf reaches into his breast pocket to pull out a small ornate case that holds his glasses. Putting them on, the polarized lenses set to the lighting of the room and his AR display pops up with a calculator.

"I'd be interested in hearing more. These notes must be interesting. So what do you want? The information or the doctor?"

Murphy sets himself up for a data lift or extraction job.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Astral Perception: 8d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 6, 6, 1, 5, 2) = 34

Kind of a waste, but I stare through his soul checking his aura etc while we eat and chitchat.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy is not smart. He knows it, but something clicks.

"Huh, well that is certainly interesting. Let's discuss after we dine of course. And of course Bobbi is right. TnN is no longer in the running so they had an exhibition match with Hawaii yesterday. Squeaked by with a win. Some corporate event with Telestrian industries I think. Half the ads were for some new AR glove that was actually a sub dermal implant underneath the fingers."

The red haired elf awaits proper social queues to begin eating.

I hope it's not called project Genophage.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Is the core of his research magical or purely genetic?

-Posted with Wayfinder

Parazoology w/edge: 9d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 3, 5, 1, 4, 6, 1) = 34
Rule of 6: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Rule of six: 1d6 ⇒ 4 5 successes. I have enough edge, figure I might just use it now.

Murphy strokes his chin as he recalls something he read at Morgana's.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Would a skill like Parazoology be effective here if it is designed to work on plants and animals of the Sixth world?

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy's eyes go wide as he jabs AL in the ribs. Hard enough to get him to spill his drink if he was holding a beer.

"I think we have an ample amount of time to enjoy a lovely meal. Plus a few more of these will go nicely with dinner. Hey, anybody catch the futbol game yesterday? Tir na Nog v Hawaii? Bit of a nail biter in the last few minutes."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Etiquette: 9d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 4, 3, 4) = 31

2 hits, not a glitch. No idea why I'm rolling etc, so I'll hold my tongue.

Sipping casually at his mug, Cavan eyes the man for a bit before responding.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Without looking at the menu, Murphy asks about the menu.

"1 Echigo Koshihikari, and I am aware that this is a sushi establishment, but are there any other dishes such as a nice hot udon?"

Checking his suit, making sure that everything was alright he waits for a response and his beer.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy shows up at the meet up looking very different than anybody remembers him. His hair well trimmed, his usual clothes gone and replaced with a moderately expensive suit. He checked his coat at the door and joins the others.

"I take I'm not late? S*@%... I forgot my, you know what, nevermind. Hawatari, Bobbi, and AL, how have you guys been the last two months?"

Murphy had forgotten his gun in his coat, but at least he has the power of magic.

-Posted with Wayfinder

I think I'll get the Berwick and the Argentum. So 6200, but looks snazzy and stops more bullets than my current duster.

-Posted with Wayfinder

What would say 5k grant me? In the ways of looking fancy but not unarmored. The auctioneer business suit does look nice though.

Can't exactly use chummer right now :(. Bills have kept me from fixing my motherboard. I'll have to see if I can get run and gun.

I'll have to write it in, but I also purchased a SiN. Also how much would a nice, business suit cost? Also the armored one, I don't have my books near me atm, but I will elaborate in ICE post.

Cavan rolls over and checks his messages.

Great, but I'll need some work to keep this up.

The elf hobbles into the shower, using his magic he gives himself a shave and trims his hair to where he needs it. Toweling himself off, he wanders over to the closet and reaches towards the back and pulls out a brand new tailored suit. Something to meet a Johnson in.

I'm going to get a sustaining focus soon, but I just want to have some karma in reserve so I don't blow my whole load on it.

I'm keeping the tabs from the three beers that Cavan drank. Going to make a necklace out of beer can tabs from important runs and such (like taking the fangs from a hunt) and turning that into a focus at some point. Although I think I'll save the karma for now, I will have Cavan gain 1 skill rank in bookkeeping to represent his time as a supply officer, and 1 rank in the knowledge skill military procedures (magic), buying rent two months ahead for a total of 6k out of my 22, and then exchanging improve reflexes for the illusion spell that makes us silent or muffles sound.

-Posted with Wayfinder

I have some edge left, we can assume I spent edge and bought myself 5 successes with Bargaining because bloodbath and beyond was too far away so we stopped at ghetto walmart.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Would it be okay if we went through my fence? His connections are low, but I feel as though Johnny 5 wouldn't share all of his contact info for with Murphy but it would be a good way to raise his connections. So 25000 nuyen, I might as well buy a sustaining focus.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Cavan goes on a week long binder for St Patrick's day. I am going to assume that some Corp has bought all rights to the holiday and makes an extravaganza out of it.

Cavan is a decent guy, not the best, but pretty good. He will decide on a case by case basis but will outright refuse wet work. He'd rather do extractions, sabotage, data steals (but don't let him near a deck), etc.

As for the one guy that died, Cavan is sad about it, but it's a dangerous world. You get lucky or you get shot.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Okay so I spend 3k to get a fake SiN, 4k for two months of rent, get 2k from karma, I would then have 11k to spend. Any ideas? Well a lodge for one thing, then maybe spend some cash on drinks with my Fixer and try and increase my loyalty

-Posted with Wayfinder

Just remembered, I have a couple of spells that are a bit too similar. Both are improvements to reaction, could I swap one for say another health spell, like a debuff or a manipulation spell like gecko crawl?

-Posted with Wayfinder

I think that Cavan will spend 1 karma for working for the people. Heading over to my talismonger and just working in the back with inventory. Also going to spend karma for a new knowledge skill, what would be a good name for things like taking inventory and managing supplies? He used to be a supply officer so I figure I might as well round him out a bit.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Okay so how much cash did we get away with. I havent seen it all posted. Because I literally wont be able to make it 8 weeks without like 4k.

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy catches the glimpse from the Japanese lady and rolls his eyes.

No Johnson, straight through a Fixer. There was no negotiating this job.

"Now there's an idea if I heard one all night. But what if we up it a bit. While being in good favor with the Cutters sounds fantastic, perhaps we could also rely upon you for a more professional approach? Not going to wear colors, but if you have any more jobs we could go through you rather than some other well mannered person."

Negotiation w/edge: 20d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 2, 5, 1, 1, 2, 4, 3, 2, 6, 5, 1, 2, 6, 1, 1, 1, 5) = 58 Specialty Bargaining: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 Rule of 6: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6) = 8
Rule of 6: 1d6 ⇒ 6

8 successes, woo.

Im looking to pick this guy up as a contact, perhaps as a Johnson or a Cutter whatever his station is.Rule of 6: 1d6 ⇒ 4

-Posted with Wayfinder

Murphy checks the cred sticks briefly giving them a glance and a low whistle.

"Seems nice enough, but Ive done my time as part of something bigger so I'll turn you down. The offer is appreciated."

The Irish elf looks up for a moment thinking, looking down near the 'sticks he wonders.

"So, this is an odd question, but this seemed like a rush job. Caught a blip on the radar and needed to act fast right? Normally a group such as yourselves would arrange a meet we'd haggle a bit and rearrange some numbers, receive a bit of pay up front to cover small expenses and travel, etcetera etcetera. But that didnt happen right?"

Murphy leans back.

"Yeah, I went straight through a fixer which felt odd to me."

-Posted with Wayfinder

Cavan spots the beer, but resists temptation. But he will examine and smell the brew.

Alcohol: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 6) = 19

Of course I roll 3 successes when it doesnt matter. Unless that stuffs poisoned.

"The offer is greatly appreciated, however a cold beer is a reward for a job well done. Part of the job isn't quite done of course. Business is business, and I would like to say that tonight was rather successful."

-Posted with Wayfinder

To Murphy, now was the fun part. Shooting people up and pulling crazy stunts was one thing. But putting your chips on the table and walking away richer was another. He had sat in the truck, hooked it up to the grid and let the truck do the driving for him.

If this cutter wanted the group to spend their cash in house they might have another thing coming.
