”Come on, grab those swords and follow me!” The tiefling woman strikes the ground with the butt of her wicked-looking glaive three times in rapid succession, creating a sense of urgency. ”I’m not going to sit here and wait for them to pick us off like cattle. Let’s GO!” She sneers. ”Or do you lot want to hold a friggin’ People’s Vote on it?” She doesn’t wait for an answer, but spins to lead the way. The motion causes several locks of hair to be stuck in her mouth, which she promptly spits out. She grunts and swears. ”By Hell’s fiery depths! Will anyone find me something to tie my hair back?!” -- Iff here, with my submitted character for this solo campaign: Catina Bon Durati, former ‘special tasks force’ for the Chelaxian army who grew weary of all the violence and is looking for a quiet and peaceful life. My view of the game
On play style and solo games
This would be my first solo campaign. I’m excited to try a format where the story can focus on just one character and their choices. However, there’s also some hesitations that come with unfamiliarity: I’m worried whether I would be able to keep enough energy and creativity with just me as a player, without the rest of a party to carry you through a creative lull, etc. Three points related to the information in the alias
Thank you for considering my application. If anything is unclear or you have other questions, please ask!
It's a sad conclusion, Giuseppe, but I was having trouble keeping up and feeling like I'm 'failing' to give this game the energy it deserves. My situation doesn't seem like it will change in the near future, so it would stay like this for a while, for me at least. I don't think the game deserves to sputter out like that, so I stand by Giuseppe's decision. It is saddening, but I don't see any good alternative. Sorry...
Catina sighs as they hustle over to the other group. "I was afraid it was going to come to this. You did a good job in trying though, Petals." With the stout dour barring entry, Catina prays to Shelyn and grants Petals a boost to her physical strength. "That should help you swing that hammer even harder. The sooner we get in, the better."
"Well yes, maybe that's better," Catina says at the change of plans, lucky she won't have to undress after all. "If we can create a diversion here that will keep a few of them busy, we can hurry over to the other side and force entry there before that know what happened." As she mentally goes through the list of prayers she had prepared, she makes a sour face. "I guess I should have thought about the spell that muffles all sound. Well, you don't know everything in advance. I can make Petals stronger, though, to more easily break down the door." -- I suggest we take the North-West entrance. Catina will cast Bull's Strength on Petals before the tries to slam open the door.
Catina gives Petals an empathic look and puts a hand on the elven woman's shoulder. "It's ok, you did the best you could. And your quick thinking got us another opportunity, slim as it is." She sets her jaw and looks grim. "I agree with Varius in this case. When they open the door, we'll have to be ready for them and try to force our way in." She looks uncomfortable, but adds "I should be one of the two to go. Even without weapon or armor, I'll have Shelyn's protection." And my tiefling skin, she adds to herself. She's not looking forward to having to undress, but steels herself for the task. "All I need is my bracelet to cast spells. That seems innocious enough. And even if that doesn't work, I still have some tricks up my sleeves." She makes a gesture, then realizes she doesn't actually have sleeves any more. "As a figure of speech, of course," she adds sheepishly, taking some effort to cover herself up with her arms. -- Catina will be one of the ones to unequip and undress. She'll try to keep on the bracelet that functions as her holy symbol. There's some rolls below, as needed to adjudicate. She'll claim it's just a heirloom that she's vouched never to take off. If that doesn't budge the Sisters, she will remove it when it becomes clear that such is necessary to gain entrance.
Dice rolls: Bluff (without circlet): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Catina catches the same vibe as Petals. "I know what you mean," she adds. "We could just try knocking, like we did at the Bastards. But with this sliding windows, that seems unlikely to work. They'll ask us to explain without opening the door. And if that fails, the entire place will be on alert." She thinks, unsure of how to proceed. "You could maybe try and see if you can force the door open, maybe tamper with the lock if there is one. But that will mean violence is inevitable, and we never really gave it a chance." She seems unhappy at the prospect.
It's a relief to Catina to see the anguished spirit disappear. "So long, Venture-Captain Ghaelfin," she whispers to no one in particular. "I hope you may find rest, perhaps when we recover Coriana's ashes and gives her the proper place she deserves." She dabs a sleeve at her moist eye as she turns away to the group, to take a couple of breaths. When she turns back to the group, her face is a bit grim. "Our next stop has to be the Massacre House, but I'm not really longer forward to it. If it's the group of thugs that Petals says it is - and somewhat fanatics as well - then they won't give up those ashes just like that. I fear it'll turn into a fight, just like against the Bastards." There's a twinge on her face, as the remembers the friends lost that day. "We'd best return to our homes and rest, prepare as well as we can." To distract herself from her previous thoughts, she turns to the items gifted to them by Lord Lucca. "What will will do with these? The staff is gaudy as I've ever seen, but it might come in useful. Varius, do you want that amulet to protect yourself? The rest we'll just keep for a rainy day, I suppose?"
I'm with Petals. Next day sounds much better. Catina's new spell list for the day after is in the spoiler below. We also have the issue of Thrax's 'loot'.
Catina's spell list: 0th level 3 spells. DC 13 - Light - Read Magic - Stabilize - Mending 1st level. 4 spells, 1 Domain spell. DC 14
2nd level. 3 spells, 1 Domain spell. DC 15

Catina tries not to let herself get distracted by the spirit's ranting on House Thrune. She feels for him and catches herself almost wanting to put an arm around his shoulder. The gesture would be futile. "I guess we're on the right track concerning Coriana. Finding her without this information would have been a lot harder. I guess it doesn't make sense to ask about Sivanshin any more. We might have better luck talking to Bisby about him, if we get the chance." "Now, for our last question, should we ask about the Father's Bulwark, or about the Massacre House? The latter might be possible to find through mundane means, which is almost impossible for the Pathfinder's hideout. But if we're wrong and we don't find the location of the Massacre House, we'll be at a dead end. I think we should ask about that. The name doesn't ring a bell for any of you, does it?" -- Knowledge local on 'Massacre House': 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 (If it's Knowledge religion instead, that's 7 higher.)
The Venture-Captain's answers give Catina pause. She had know about the nature of the spirit and the answers if would give, had even warned her friends. Still, it was difficult to consider the best way to get useful information. "You're right, Petals. We should probably focus on Coriana. He cared for her very much, so he might be more forthcoming with information. Still, we're banking on the opportunity that we'll retrieve her body as well. And we have to be specific with the questions." She thinks for a moment. "It might backfire for us, but what about asking on the fate of Coriana, and where her body was taken? That would give us something solid to go on. For the forth question, I suppose we could ask about Sivanshin. It's a long shot, but if he's still alive - maybe he was forced to change his plans and never left the country? - that would give us a lot of information."
Catina nods and goes forward with the plan. As discussed the first briefly explains their situation, to hopefully garner the spirit's favor. She then asks her questions, one by one. "- What do we need to do to enter Delvehaven, assuming the seals you left are still in place?
Channel energy: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2) = 6
That should put everyone at full. -- Just one thing I was wondering about, just to be sure we get this right: Delvehaven was initially sealed by the Pathfinders. Thrune loyalists opened it, had a look around and then sealed it again? I think I forgot about that when writing my questions. Not sure how much it matters for now, but just wanted to check
Catina is initially apprehensive about lighting the candle and invoking its magic on the petrified bust, but she tries to reason with herself on why there is nothing to worry about. "Arael confirmed that the candles aren't necromantic in nature, and that they're perfectly safe. We're not actually harming the soul of Venture-Captain Ghaelfin, but we're mostly speaking with... a copy." She then turns to her companions. "It seems like the candles follows some strict rules." They remind her of the time that they had the imp answer questions in the Crux, but she doesn't voice those thoughts. "I think we have a limited answer of questions the spirit will answer - five, if I'm correct. We'd best think of them in advance. Also, we have to be prepared for the answers to be vague, or cryptic. It might help if the spirit agrees with our intentions, so maybe we should explain what we're trying to do." Her brow furrows for a moment as she thinks. "How about this? We will him that Delvehaven had been sealed for many decades. He was probably the one to order it, so that might put the spirit in a good mood. We'll let him know that we are working with a Pathfinder agent, to search Delvehaven for clues. And to rid Westcrown of an evil presence. Then we can ask our questions. Something like:" "- What do we need to do to enter Delvehaven, considering the seals you left are still in place?
She looks at the others to gauge their reaction. She seems especially proud of the last questions she thought of.
Catina is surprised to suddenly see the lightning bolt arc from Faustinia, but she doesn't complain about the suprise. Rather, she's just very glad that the fight is over. She looks down at her blue robes, quite singed and ruined from Thrax's fireball. Still, the sight of Petals staggering is clear in her mind, and she knows things could have been much worse. She takes a step closer to the man, and tries to guess at his motive. Was he just angry at losing, or had he gone mad? Whatever the reason, Catina feels that he shouldn't deserve to die. She communicates as much in a swift prayer, and watches as Shelyn's magic closes death's door for Thrax. She spends the next few moments checking up on her companions, and making sure they're all right. -- When Lord Lucca arrives, Catina makes sure she's smoothed her clothing as best she can. His demeanor gives her pause, however, and she gives him a critical look. Is he really sorry, or did he know this might happen? She isn't really sure either way, but doesn't pass up the opportunity to snatch up Thrax's possession after thanking their host. If anything, we can just sell the thing to fund the Eyes. -- Cast stabilize on Thrax.
Catina looks forward and backwards. "What... What are we doing?" She is inclined to follow Faustinia, and just run away from the wizard, who seems strong as well as a very experienced caster. "Come on, Varius. Let's just get out of here!" She holds her ground for now, and casts a spell to bolster Varius's strength. -- Cast Bull's Strength on Varius. I still say we should just flee the arena, though.
========
Catina looks around, trying to settle on a course of action. At least they weathered the first of Thrax's attacks, but he didn't seem to let up. "I don't know, Varius," she answers, hoping to sound calmer than she feels. "That's a question for later, though. Stop banging on that door, it seems like Petals has a better chance at it." Even if it may take some time. "We'll need to be sure she can work undisturbed, and that means keeping a close eye on Thrax and making sure he can't wreak more havoc." Just to be safe, she casts a spell on Petals. "Blessed Rose, keep this woman safe, so that she may get us all out of here." Why didn't I study the spell that lets me freeze someone in place? I thought we would only be dealing with summoned creatures! -- Cast Protection from evil on Petals.
As her wind wall dissipates the cloud, Catina takes a few deep gulps of clean air. With the fog gone, she checks up on her companions. "Why would he attack us?" is the first question that pops into Catina's mind. Quickly followed by more pressing matters. "We have to get out of here! Did they lock the cage behind us?" She's about to look behind her, when she recognizes what Thrax has in his hands. Is that...? Again she tries to warn her companions, shouting instructions as she herself follows them. "Close your eyes!" She waits for the spell to strike, then checks what damage Thrax caused with his spell? "Everyone OK? We need to get out of here!" She moves with Faustinia to the back of the cage, and tries what she can to open the cage. "Lord Lucca!" she calls out, hoping that the owner of the Devildrome will be able to interfere. -- Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Catina can scarcely believe it when the arena is suddenly quiet, and the crowd grows silent. "Is it over...? Did we win?" She has a hard time thinking that the fight could be done so soon, and tentatively raises a hand to acknowledge the cheers of the crowd. A genuine smile eventually shows on her face, as she accepts the accolades and watches the smiling people. Still, she also feels for their opponent, for whom this must be a very bitter defeat. She looks Thrax's way, just in time to watch him cast a spell. Cabbage leaves? "Watch out," is all she can say before the wind is taken from her lungs by the vile spell. She coughs and spits, but manages to keep a clear head. "Stinking cloud!" she speaks between coughs. Focus, think of better times. The garden at the Temple! Her course of action is suddenly crystal-clear to Catina: a spell that she had memorized that morning, a new one that she hadn't cast before and wasn't even sure why she thought she needed it. Thank you, Shelyn, for watching over me. She takes a tiny breath in through her mouth, just enough to speak the required words. With a few graceful swings of her arms, she summons fierce winds. That should stop the stinking cloud! -- Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Catina can't help but stand in awe over their opponent's showmanship and skill with magic. "I don't think I've ever seen a spell like that." The appearance of the lantern archon breaks her reverie. "It's... It's wonderful," she stammers. With renewed energy, she casts another spell. It's easier as well, knowing that she'll use Shelyn's magic to aid such a wonderful angelic creature. "Shelyn, bless these creatures, aid them in the task Faustinia has set them to, against this vile devils." The blue-tinged earch elemental shrug off the blows of the lemures assaulting it. Vibrating softly to the tune of Petals, it raises part of its body and drops it crashing into the devil in front of it. -- Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Blue, attack yellow +bless +performance: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 12
Catina peers out of the cage, trying to see what their opponent is doing. "Can you see what he's doing? Is he summoning lemures?" She seems to second-guess herself. "Can you even tell while he's still casting?" She waits for Faustinia's spell to finish casting, but he already planned what she will do. As soon as the earth elementals appears, she prays to Shelyn. "Blessed Rose, once again I pray for your power for use in battle. I wish things were different, but I trust that you'll see that this is ultimately for a good cause. Please protect these two creatures, creations of stone, from the touch of the evil lemures surely to assault them." She gathers the power that's always within her, and bestows it to the left-most elemental. When her spell finishes casting, she leans in to Faustinia and whispers. "It's an aura that protects both of them from evil, including the claws of lemures. If you can tell them to stay together, they'll both be protected. The protection will diminish if they start attacking, so maybe you can also make it clear to them to stay on the defensive at first? That way the lemure's first assault will be harmless." -- Ready, and cast Magic circle against evil on the blue earth elemental. The other will also benefit if it stays within 10 ft. It gives a +2 deflection bonus to AC, and it "causes the natural weapon attacks of evil summoned creatures to fail and the creatures to recoil if such attacks require touching the warded creature. The protection against contact by summoned creatures ends if the warded creature makes an attack against or tries to force the barrier against the blocked creature."
Catina is quite surprised to find herself suddenly the center of Lady Drovenge's attention, and in such a crude way as well. She wants to hold her composure and act casual under the allusions, but finds her cheeks heating up and words failing her. She at least is clear-headed enough to make a conscious decision not to be goaded into making things worse. She sets her jaw and produces a thin smile in response to the comments. At least she laid off Faustinia, she thinks to give herself courage under the noblewoman's stare. -- As the moment of the battle arrives, Catina feels herself grow more and more nervous. Just like the theater... The similarity is enhanced by people calling out their stage names, and Catina's restless mind clutches at non-relevant questions. Should we have worn our costumes? Is that how we're going to be remembered, and now with our white cloaks? She makes her way to the cage, trying to think of something useful to say. "Mind to summon the creature close to our cage, Faustinia, if I am to bestow Shelyn's magic on them." When the bell rings, Catina is so tense that she's on the verge of casting a spell, before she realizes that Faustinia needs time to perform her summonings. "What will you cast first? Multiple small creature, or a large one?" -- Catina will delay, since there aren't any creatures yet for her to buff. That will take at least one round, if I'm correct.
Catina tries to look everywhere at once, inside the Devildrome. It feels similar to when they were on stage to perform the Six Trials. "It's a good thing that we won't be in danger personally, like in the play, won't it?" When Lady Drovenge arrives to introduce herself, Catina gives her best formal bow and initially decides to leave the talking to Faustinia. However, the noblewoman's change in demeanor makes Catina step up to defend her friend - rightly or wrongly. That fact that Lady Drovenge bets on them it the final incentive she needs - apparently the woman is on their side, at least somewhat. "I suppose we are doing things even we ourselves didn't think we'd be doing. But what's proper and not sometimes has to bend to what gathers results. I have full confidence in Lady Xerysis," - Catina's proud that she didn't stumble when using Faustinia's first name - "and the power of summonings that comes with her experience." That said, she doesn't want to skip the opportunity for some more information, and adds a question to Faustinia's. "I don't presume that you come her more often, but I've heard it say that the current champion sometimes tailors his tactics to specific opponents. Anything we could likely be facing, considering that he probably knows a bit about us?" Catina can't help feel awkward - and proud - to be a known figure.

"Oh," Catina says simply when Faustinia lectures her on the details of summoned creatures. "Sorry, I didn't know that. Guess a silence effect isn't really useful then. I'll go to the temple, and see what else I can gather." The search there doesn't turn up a lot, and in the next day Catina returns to the Shrine, to check up on Avirah. She's glad to be able to spend some time with the young woman, and her wordly contact prove especially useful in this case. Catina returns later that afternoon, to share her knowledge with the others and discuss tactics. "I've learned that we'll be confined to a protective area during the battle. If Faustinia summons her creatures nearby we'll be able to interact with them briefly - such as touching them to apply spells - but once the battle is on that's not an option anymore." She frowns and fiddles with her bracelet. "Most of Shelyn's magics require me to touch the recipient - probably meant to reinforce the connection between people and foster positive feelings - so I will mostly be useful in the beginning of the fight. My magics would probably be of little use if you summon an army of smaller creatures. However, if we have one summoned monster to serve as the centerpiece, I could really give it a lot of protection."
Catina frowns. "I think there's magic that will gives Varius to speak any language he wants, but it's beyond my skill." She considers Faustinia's words, and finds herself agreeing with Varius. "I'd go for variety as well. I'd like to see one of those lantern archons, even though I'm not sure how that would go over with the audience. I agree that an army of them wouldn't make for an entertaining fight, and it might anger Lord Lucca. But just one of two to aid the earth elementals. That could work." While walking, she suddenly lights us as if she has a brilliant idea, then suddenly deflates. "I though I could give your monsters something with a silence effect, so that Thrax's lemures can't summon more of their kind. But that won't work, since then they also can't hear your commands. Sorry..." She does get another idea, eventually. "There's magic that will allow me to shield someone else, and bear the burden of their wounds. That should be allowed, isn't it?"
Catina's bows as they leave the company of Lord Lucca, but she's silent, already thinking about the challenge ahead. As they move back to the city proper, she tries to put things together. "So, we know the rules. Most of them, I think. Faustinia will have to summon one or more monsters, and they have to fight a horde of lemures. We can help, but only indirectly. He said we can't attack the lemures, but I suppose we could hinder them by working the environment to our advantage." She tries to think or useful things as they walk. "I suppose we should learn all we can about lemures. And we should maybe help you pick monsters to summon that would be good against them. I suppose I could call upon Shelyn's blessing to aid your monsters, however wierd that sounds. Do you think we'll have time beforehand to casts spell on them? Would we even get close enough to touch them, and confer the spells?"
Catina fears the worst, until Lord Lucca explains what the Devildrome is for. Still distasteful, but not as bad as she'd feared. "Well, you're in luck then. Fa - Lady Xerysis is an excellent conjurer of all manner of beasts. I've had first-hand experience of that." In a less confident voice, she adds "I suppose my magic also allows me to summons monsters. Will you allow a secondant to aid? Not that my skill is anywhere near yours, of course..." -- As a player I understand where this is going, but I figured it'd be nice to show off Catina's innocent side. :)
Catina tries to keep her face straight, but Lord Lucca's comparison between the Six Trials and the Devildrome doesn't surprise her. I figured it would be something distasteful like that. She is surprised at Faustinia's direct approach. Wouldn't that give away too much? Being associated with Pathfinders - dead or not - was probably not a good thing. Another thing worries her: If only a bust remains, would the candles still work? She's read some references to divine magic that allows one to speak with a corpse, but that seemed to require that the corpse still be able to physically talk. She tries to recall whether the candles where different, but she's not sure anymore. She holds her tongue, and lets Faustinia do the talking for now.
Catina follows Petals as they make their way out of the city. She hasn't been out of the city often, and the trip reminds her of the last time; when they had to rescue Arael from captivity by the Hellknight armigers. She's better able to appreciate her surroundings now. As they make their way trough the gap in the wall, into the Parego Dospera, she muses "Does anone know whether the shadowbeasts are confined to the city, or do they venture out in these lands as well? Just something that never occured to me." -- When Faustinia leads them to the Devildrome, she's not quite sure what to expect. Still, she had expected something more than a block of unassuming appartment buildings. It feels disappointing, somehow... That feeling is quickly replaced when they are introduced to Rance Lucca. 'Gaudy' is the only words that comes to mind. Catina makes a bow that she hopes is adequete, and keeps her words to a simply "Thank you, Lord Lucca." She naturally assumes that Faustinia will do the rest of the talking.
Catina frets as the prepare for going to the 'Devildrome'. She talks with Petals about going out and gathering information as well. Ultimately, she decides against it: It seems like Faustinia can provide enough information about House Lucca, and if that goes well visiting the Sisters might not be needed anymore. No need to draw unnecessary risk. Besides, if Petals wasn't able to get any information, she isn't sure she'd fare any better. As Faustinia gives them their final briefing, Catina nods gravely, listening carefully to the noblewoman's warnings. Her face shows plainly that she dislikes the plan to go there by sewers. She nods at the plan to bribe their way across, and Faustinia's estimate of the required 'donation' matches her own. "I think the plan to conceal our passage with magic is really clever, but there's also risk. If someone sees you casting, they'll surely know we have something to hide. Just offering the 'donation' seems safer. Plenty of people do it, I think, so it's less suspicious." -- Knowledge local: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Catina is still a little uncomfortable with the plan to retrieve corpses with the intent to use necromantic energies in order to talk with their spirits, but she makes an effort to take heart from Arael's reassurances. "Well, I suppose we have a plan then. First order of business is to get some information, I suppose. That should be safe enough while we wait for our equipment to finish the enchanting process." -- I suppose it would be a good idea to skip a few days, so that everyone can add their modified equipment to their sheets. In the meantime, could we gather information on the Sisters and on House Lucca (to add to what we already know)? If needed, we could assume Take 10 on Diplomacy checks, if playing it out wouldn't be interesting enough.
Catina breaths a sigh of relief when the Erinyes head is put back into the Crux. The sudden silence is a relief, as is the thought that Varius can't make good on his threats of physical violence. She listens to Faustinia's knowledge, impressive as ever. "That makes sense," she remarks as she tries to piece together all the information they've found so far. Along the others, she sets herself to pouring over the contents of the leather folder. "There's a lot of very useful information here. I'm glad that all our troubles in the Knot were worth it, at least. These ledgers don't make much sense yet, but I'm sure they will when we're actually inside Delvehaven and have things at hand." Something in Ailyn's remark about the dead Pathfinders makes her frown. "I'm sure it will bring them peace if we figure out what happened to them, and that you give them the proper acknowledgements." She frown again. "But such wouldn't need a hefty reward, would it? That seems odd to me." She shrugs and moves on from the topic. "Still, following up on some of these might be worthwhile, before we go to Delvehaven. Going to Nidal is out of the question of course, and it seems like we might only have a chance to search for Mr. Bisby when we're in Delvehaven. But both of these," she points, "might be a good lead. Coriana and this Venture-Captain Ghoelfin. Both of them fought togethers - some place called the Father's Bulwark? There's hints to where there bodies might be." She looks at the others, suddenly a bit unsure. "These people wanted to use those candles to wrangle the secrets from their dead bodies. Do you think..." she hesitates a bit, "... if we tried to do the same, but with good intentions, that this would be OK?" The tiefling girl reads over the poem and shakes her head. "If there is a cypher in here, it must be a really difficult one. If Liriam perished in Delvehaven, maybe he left some clue to the cypher somewhere? We'll have to look our for that when we explore." -- She makes a couple of paces as she thinks. "We have some days while we wait for sales and purchases. Should we look into the fates of Coriana Heavenscape and Aiger Ghoelfin? That might give us the best possible preparation before we... venture into Delvehaven."
It's not that Catina enjoys the raging screams of the erinyes's head, but the alternative is hardly better for her. She puts her hands to her ears and looks away as first Arael threatens it and then Varius joins in. She looks miserable. It's only a head! How much damage could it do, besides being annoying? Her mind tries to find a more reasonably approach. Could we find some way to put the silence spell on an object, keep her from being a nuisance, or worse? She tries to voice her concerns, when doing so is possibly without shouting. "It seems like we're stuck with her, if we want to have the best change possibly of entering and searching Delvehaven. But we have to find a way to get her to cooperate. We don't want her screaming like that when we're trying to be stealthy, and I don't want us to have to threaten her at every turn either. Any ideas?" She then thinks of something else. "Could we find out some more information about this Dargentu Vheet? Maybe some discreet asking around, of perhaps he was famous enough to be mentioned in writing? We'll need to make the next couple of days useful anyway, while we wait for the equipment to be sold and such."
