"Hey guys the book's talking to me. So cool, Stella he... she?... it says you're wrong and right. Ooh also its says your sister should stop snooping. Oh Aureth the book says its sorry for being for being abrupt. What a thoughtful book. Ooh Anion the book is looking for you. "
Rovosi comes into the room with a spring in his step and hops on to the chair in front of the desk. He greets jovially and it is clear that it is not his first time in the office, though it does seem Rovosi might not understand he is not supposed to want to be sent here. "You know that teacher sent me off so quick, I didn't get a chance to apologize. That was meant to be illusory fire, I'm not sure how it turned into real fire. I think short hair will be a good look for her though, so I don't think she should be too upset. I could be a barber who cut hair only with fire spells, I could swim in all the gold I would make." It seems like Rovosi is joking, but a person who was familiar with him would know he was at least partly serious about it. "Oh yes, I'm quite happy here. You do mean the school and not this room, right? Not to say I'm not happy in this room, I quite enjoy our talks actually but I'm not always sure what people mean when they say 'here'. It seems like such a specific term but it can be so vague."A look of realization comes across his face."I have noticed many here who seem unhappy, are we not meant to be happy here?" he says and his voice goes a bit lower and drawn out at the end. "Why, of course I fit in, Sir, I am a gnome, we are so small we can fit almost anywhere." Rovosi manages to keep a straight-face for a few moments before his bottom lip quivers and he begins to giggle. When he has calmed down, he says, "Sorry, I know what you mean, Sir, but fitting in something I don't think about very much. Certainly, I am far less serious than most of the students but some seem to appreciate my views on things and the others, well, I think they've forgotten what fun, amazingly interesting things they are learning here." "Friends? Hmm, that is not something I have concerned myself with much. There are some here who I thought friends but they usually stop speaking to me after I attempt to help them relax. It's not my fault they are so good at being stressed that I have to resort to such drastic methods of relaxation. There are two who have kept talking to me after my first pranks... I mean relaxation methods. The head professor of illusion magic seems to be fond of me, as well. I guess I have made some friends." Oh, yes I am very happy with my appearance and if I wasn't I would change it," he says in a very matter fact tone. How do people react to me? I suppose it depends on what I was doing before they realized I was there. If I was trying to pr... relax them, they seem to react with anger. I hope when people first see, they think, 'Hey, he looks funs, let's go do fun things with him and maybe let him ride on our shoulders.'"
I think it would be interesting if gender standards for fashion were pretty open, for example guys could wear dresses or make up but they would probably be styled different than what women. I guess I'm kind of talking about how girls wear "boy shirts" but in reverse. I'm not suggesting outright crossdressing although it sounds like that would exist in this city. Maybe people like big ears so they have more room jewelry. Might be fun if people had enchantments cast in order to have outlandish hairstyles that wouldn't normally be possible and maybe strobing colors. I'm really just throwing stuff at the wall at this point, seeing what sticks. |
