Phonkin has come to Kenebras to bring the law of Iomedae to the demons of the World Wound. He is an emissary of the Church of Iomedae and is a true believer in honor, justice and divine retribution. Phonkin struggles with his complicated lineage. His father is a prominent member of the Varisian aristocracy. His mother, an elf, is a high priestess within the church of Sarenrae. Unspoken within the family is the hereditary gift that manifests within the first son of every seventh generation. Phonkin knows that the gift derives from the gold dragon progenitor of his mother's house. Phonkin also knows that he is the first son of the seventh generation, and is destined to inherit the power of his mother's draconic bloodline. Phonkin now seeks to leverage the power of his bloodline to enforce the will of Iomedae.
Dhugal lives in the shadows of the Korvosa underworld. As a young child, he was adopted by a prominent thieving guild, which adopted him off the street where he had lived as an unwanted street orphan. Eventually Dhugal would find that his physical prowess and intimidating appearance would become highly valued assets to guild. He would first begin his formal operations as a burglar. Eventually, as he grew in physical stature, he would graduate to the role of the guild enforcer and master of arms. With his growing power, Dhugal would also find increasing decadence. For several years he struggled through a drug induced haze before finally kicking his addiction. As a result of his addiction, Dhugal maintains an ever burning hatred for the nefarious Gaedren Lamm, whom he believes ensnared him with the drug. Today, he continues his work in the shadows for the Guild, collecting intelligence against rival guilds, the city nobility, and the wealthy merchant houses. Dhugal, whom is fiercely loyal to the Cerulean Society, seeks to both further empower his adopted family and to exact vengeance on the aristocracy that rejects his world view.
