Backstory:
From an early age, Calchas's favorite bedtime stories were the ones about the fabled assassin Artemis Entreri-- how the man always seemed one step ahead of his target, how he learned to compensate for his human weaknesses, and his legendary battles with the dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden. Calchas grew up on these stories, playing as his favorite character every chance he could. As he grew older many things about him changed, but the awe Entreri inspired in him did not. Over time, his hours of play turned into dedicated training. He learned how to slip into shadows and, occasionally, how to disappear entirely, just like his hero always seemed to.

One thing bothered him, however, and that was the indiscriminate way in which Entreri killed. In the real world, Calchas knew, one simply couldn't get away with that, and he wasn't sure he wanted to try. Eventually, he grew disillusioned with the heartless killer. He knew, however, that the name Entreri would surely be known to many, so he adopted it. He joined the Pathfinder Society hoping to become everything Artemis Entreri was to him as a hatchling.
