Caimor relates Sanvill's offer regarding exchanging technological items for magical ones to the rest of the party before heading off to his own accommodations. The feeling of being watched is another thing to consider, as well as the intent behind the letter given to them, but he lets the matter rest in favor of well-needed sleep.

In the morning, Caimor is already waiting. He slept lightly but his rest was enough to relieve his fatigue, and he woke early to carefully choose and prepare his extracts for the day.

Spending a point of inspiration for a bonus. My social skills don't come into play until next level so argh!

However, Caimor is too tired and pained to indulge in societal games so he settles for being neutral. "We did return from beneath Torch just now and found a few of the silverdiscs this place is named after. We'll be returning to delve deeper to find Khonnir so we might find something else then."

He makes no mention of the dead or what else they found.

He then begins inspecting the five strange cards. He has some ideas but it's better to have a second source. "Any information on what these are?"

Caimor uses the distraction of the fight to dash across the ledge, trusting the party to take care of themselves. That eight-second countdown doesn't bode well.

Double move the long way around on the ledge instead of straight across the rubble, getting into the cover of the NW wall. The aim is to get as close as possible to the top so I can charge next round at the counting gremlin. Trap Spotter helps if any traps are set off by my movement.

"What other side?" Caimor asks calmly, having no plans of being baited to approach. His eyes seem fixed on the gremlin but he still possesses an uncanny awareness of his surroundings. "And why not go there and find out?"

If they weren't going to attack then this might be the only time to get information from the only other residents of the cavern.

Caimor doesn't bother with a reprimand, taking point for the party again. He waits to see if Sarona will try healing Kerin before advising, "From the descriptions, there shouldn't be further to go. Avoid letting them bait you and be ready to retreat if they have something unexpected planned."

Making sure everyone is behind him, he starts moving forward, eyes scanning the area for traps and any trace of the gremlins.

While the conversation is going on, Caimor fiddles with his alchemical equipment, mixing something up in one of the vials.

I have the Trap Spotter rogue skill which helps. Also Mixing up a Shield Extract for later use.

"Their reserve is usually limited to once an hour, but I would not advise going into the situation unprepared. They're well-known for their traps."

Caimor looks to where the gremlins fled. "However, you may be right in saying that it would be better to deal with them now rather than have them surprise us later when we are weakened from exploration. I would advise getting a skulk to guide us to where they are, as well as for insurance."

Caimor wakes quickly from Sarona's healing, already assessing the situation for danger and finding none. He stands up and brushes dirt off his clothes.

He frowns, but it's a mystery whether it's due to his wardrobe's state, due to his performance in battle (a hit that barely got through his defenses--his swordplay is getting sloppy), or simply due to it being his default expression.

His body aches but it's nothing he can't ignore for the moment.

"What occurred while I was unconscious?" he asks, looking around. He briefly inspects the fallen collector robots, already noting that there's one less than there should be. "And what of negotiations with the skulks?"

He takes another step back and sheathes his rapier with one hand, drawing his longspear with the other.

"Jinkin Gremlins! Cold iron hurts them! Don't follow, trap!" Caimor yells, placing the empty flask back in his bandolier. He catches his breath before continuing, "Collector robots! Hard covering, ranged stunning weapon. Current range ten feet. Focus attack on one!"

Only in certain fighting anime is talking an actually free action where you compress several paragraphs and conversations in a few seconds!

As his mind recalls the information, his body is still in motion, retrieving a flask from his bandolier and bringing it to his mouth.

"As I said, I can only guess. The chalk drawings found earlier is at most a century old and already depicts the three-legged robots we've seen, therefore meaning this place is at least that old. I need to gather more data before I can give you anything else. Data the skulks could have provided depending on how long they've been here, and if they were the ones who made those drawings. They could explain the depictions of four-armed humanoids and spiny plants that we haven't encountered as well as their knowledge of the area and of what is inside this entrance, if they've explored it."

Caimor frowns intensifies. "And I doubt the halflings would think of asking for any of that information and it would be a headache to have them relay it in the first place. Sarona, at least, I ascertain to be skilled in negotiation and would be intelligent enough to remember to ask, but I do not believe her shrewd enough to take advantage of the skulks' current weakness."

"Regardless, all we can do is stand here and look at the entrance."

And look at it Caimor does.
