Male Human Inquisitor (Sin Eater)/1
Caern walked along quietly. the rattle of his chainmail more prominent than his voice. The youth was wild with curiosity, good for someone his age but also potentially dangerous for him. The squad would have their hands full. It was a bit of a relief to know their charges knew more of the situation in the wastes and he walked with a semi relaxed gait and kept his spear on his back.

Caern ate in stoic silence. Once more pulling down the half-mask and revealing the extent of his scar. As the corporal hardened he looked over his shoulder at the men and gave a nod after introductions. His expression did not change from its seemingly uncaring mask.

Caern awoke and began his morning rituals. He prayed to the Lady and drew her words from the deck. fortune teller roll:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Once this was done he sorted out his equipment and made sure everything was in its place. He made a last minute run to the general store for a few more waterskins and waited for the squad to head to breakfast. last minute purchase: waterskins x3 - 3gp

Caern stood and set his bunk straight before saluting the corporal and walking out the door and to the nearest general store. He gave the man behind the counter his order and soon he returned with his extra rations. Order:
Trail rations x14 : 7gp He returned to the barracks and turned in for the night after a nightly set of prayers and a fortune deck reading.

"If the Lady sees fit to test my resolve without her aid then I am more than capable in use of spear and crossbow. Ms. Trundle, however, may be in a bit of a tight spot. It is not something that we must all take lightly." Caern sat on his bunk and began checking his chainmail for broken links. "We cannot take lightly, the fact that we will be denied the god's healing."

"The people mumble of these changes ma'am. They say maps and tools have become unreliable. It is possible that our compasses will be of no use. The wastes will bar us the use of magic as well will they not?" Caern placed the small stash of coins in its pouch on his side as he waited for the corporal to answer.

Caern settled in at the bar and ordered a pint of modest mead as he observed the atmosphere of the place and the patrons. He had the draw down his half-mask to drink and it revealed that the scar over his eye extended all the way down his cheek to his jawline. He simply waited as he knew the Lady had drawn his instinct to this establishment for a reason. Everything had a reason.

Caern finished his meditation and stood. "Enlightenment is often veiled in madness." He looked about the room and straightened his robe. "I believe I will join the others in some refreshment before turning in this evening." He walked outside and let his instinct guide him to the nearest eatery.

Regaining his breath after a bit, Caern stoically nods and walks into the barracks to meditate for a few hours. After he meditates he stands and makes a few rounds around the lap circuit he ran to take in the sights, as well as for the sorely needed exercise it seemed.

Caern simply walks outside as he had never put his armor on today. He wore his loose fitting black robes, black half-mask covering his mouth, and sheathed dagger in his belt. His wooden spiral holy symbol hung from his neck. Once outside he took up another stoic attention. Description added to profile. Seems I didn't write as much as I thought I did.

Caern seemed to not react at the readying to draw the weapons. Such is the consequence of waking the warrior minded. He nodded to Colross and stated flatly "The corporal requests your presence inside." He turned on his heel and walked back inside to his previous post. "Ma'am, our eighth member will be with us shortly." He resumed his stiff attention.

Caern heard the stomping down the hall and felt the rise of rage as the Corporal came through. He calmly gathered his deck, wrapped it in it's binding and placed it back in his pack. He stood and emerged from his room standing next to the door at trained attention. With a quick "Ma'am." he greeted her in his standard lack of emotion.

Caern placed his heavy pack and his bundled up armor and weapons on the bunk below Tycho's. Clad in just his black clothing and wearing the symbol on his neck he placed his dagger in his belt and looked at the bard. "It would be good to get to know the city we will be basing in. I'll join you."

"Lack of belief in fate does not excuse you from the threads. One must never be ignorant of the will of the Gods." Caern replied without looking up and continued to eat. Once his meal was done, he removed a set of thin wooden blocks with colored pictures upon them. He then laid them out in a pattern as he studied Ceragia. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

"I am called Caern Stern." He accepted the food from her and looked up with cold eyes as he did so, as if he was looking into her soul. After about a minute of holding her in his gaze, he replied. "I am most definitely not here for your comedic pleasure. I am here as my fate was dictated by The Lady of Graves."

A man dressed chainmail with black clothing beneath and a flowing black cloak approaches the fire. He removes the spear and crossbow from his back and set them beside him as he takes a seat. A wooden spiral hangs from his neck and his pale face is partially obscured by a black mask over his nose and mouth. "I assume this is the place where the squad is to gather?" he says in a tone conveying no emotion.

Caern Stern here (aka Guru). Keeping your fates in my eyes as the Lady of Graves decrees. I actually like the reverse of Semper Victum or the Tempest Coven and as cool as it would be to start in Nex, Qadira is a cool land. I would love to see something in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings myself. However I'll go with the consensus :) |
