Seeing the fight was well in hand he picks out the weakest looking moonbeast and tilts his staff towards it, sending a pair of serpent bolts at it. Magic Missile vs Moonbeast: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5
Yeah and people think spellcasters are overpowered at high levels. xP
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Seeing the moonbeast lined up in a configuration perfectly suited to a low level spell, he cast it. Bright liquid flames jump from his outstretched fingers towards the beast in the center from their it splits in two, striking all three. Burning Arc vs MoonBeast (Blue): 10d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 1, 5, 1, 6, 5, 2, 4) = 35
Cast Burning Arc, Reflex DC 21 (Blue) and DC 19 (Red and Green) for half damage. SR DC 22: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40

I won't be good ether way with everything. Just in this case, Cael does not have the same problem as everyone else. So he is not going to put everyone else at a disadvantage he won't suffer because of a preferred course. Just as he expects the same in tern should that arise somewhere down the line.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Cael has at will flying abilities without the mist problem and his feats/items make it so he can survive even in space fine. So it's really no problem for him to move about. Which kinda makes my vote invalid and why I have not said anything. You guys have to worry about getting attacked while demisting, while truth be told I will be the only one in physical form to target and be seen easily. But I can always go invisible to counter that. In short I am good ether way.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Cael accepts the wand, placing it in his own bandolier. He remains flying off the ground as they move. He had no desire to touch the abyss tainted place and he would leave no tracks or marks of passage. Like wind he would move without a trace through the place. "I would expect the ground to have more dangers then the air and traps. But if it can't be avoided, all we can do is stay on guard."
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
To early, excuse me while I whine. Anyways caster level 17 (16 from class, +1 from ioun stone) add +1 from your alumni trait then add +2 from robe of the archmage then add +2 from spell penetration and another +2 from greater spell penetration. For a grand total of 24. Even retired pathfinders don't go soft from those wild days, plus Cael is still young. xP
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
What's the SR check for? Is it against Cael's SR or is it his check against the succubus? Because if it's his check then it should be +24, I didn't roll because even on a nat 1 his spells will break through the SR given earlier if that's the case. While the arrow leaves a line upon his flesh the electricity that came with it had no effect. It seemed the demon was ether unfamiliar with his kind or foolish. Regardless it was a minor wound that healed over by way of his magic in moments. He recast the spell but used one from his own memory, five glowing bird like figures sail towards the demon. Magic Missile: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 4, 3) + 5 = 22 19 hp from Greater False Life remaining
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Seeing only one enemy remaining and the warpriest ability. He thinks it best to conserve his spells for real need rather then waste them on such an enemy. He points his staff at the demon and unleashes a pair of black and white magical serpents. Magic Missile vs Succubus: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Oh believe me I could show you overpowered with a spellcaster at this level. Talking about take over the moon from the demons alone overpowered. But I think we all had the same basic concept when building our guys, flavor over optimization. Some guys are just beefy and you can't go toe to toe with them. Just means the DM is going to sucker punch you in your soft spot, there is always one. ;P But let's be honest sometimes we like to see the bad guy win. No fun if both sides don't work for it you know.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Cael takes in the view for a moment before going directly into casting a spell. He did not know how they saw through the invisibility so quickly, he could think of a few spells to safe guard a portal's entrance. But put that aside as he completed the simple battle spell using the power of his rod to give it a twist. Knowledge (Planes) vs Enemies: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (1) + 28 = 29
Cast fireball using my rod to change it's elemental damage to acid. Reflex DC 22 for half damage.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
For the most part I made my case IC. Concerning the stealth option, nothing I have will keep me undetected long enough to properly study the portal. Not to mention once it's open, their is nothing to stop them from coming after us. Which if I was in their position I would hold the portal not go off exploring, regardless of what end I was on. Which brings up another point, why wouldn't the demons have guards on their end of the portal, we may very well end up with enemies on both sides. Which may turn into a nightmare sandwich. Polymorphing into a fire giant, that's not much better then just showing up as a group. Fire giants are the race of giants that build kingdoms and cities. Do you know the local fire giant community? Do you have a rank? Who do you serve? It's going to be hard to fool them when you know nothing about the fire giants in the area. Even if you claim to be a wanderer or something they will most likely close ranks and treat you as a nosy outsider that should move on. Some random fire giant showing up in their turf is not going to go well I think. They are known to work together, that does not mean they are social or friendly even to their own.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
For the most part Cael stays out of it, he had given his position. Until it comes to the topic of the portal and negotiations. "I do not specialize in diplomacy, I have my ways with most elementals and their kin due to my nature. Concerning what we have to offer, I would be careful. I will not supply any information I deem to dangerous to such beings. I would advise you to do the same. Concerning terms, if they leave in peace then bloodshed can be avoided on both sides. I think that is fair, they can return later and walk away with the knowledge of the portals location. Unless I am mistaken they have not informed others yet, they would have dug in to protect such a find I imagine." He thinks on the study of the portal. "They may not have anyone with them capable of understanding such high magic. But seeing as portal creation is not only done by powerful magic, in this case tapping into magical ley lines as well, it's complexity may even challenge or exceed my own knowledge. It could even take days if it's scope is far outside my own. Then again if it is not it could take less then that. I do have emergency resources I could call upon as well should that be the case. In short until I examine it, I can not give you a true measure of the time it will take. Demons on a deserted moon have all the time in the cosmos, which explains their mastery of use over it."
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Greater Teleport has no range limit so a trip to the moon is with in it's scope, but unlike Interplanetary Teleport it requires more knowledge of the location which interplanetary does not. It can go off vague accounts and no first hand knowledge, which is why it's useful for planet hopping. That's why I said Cael has to get there first, otherwise he can't. Unless there was some errata that I don't know of.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
"The portal is only an advantage to our enemies, be that demons or fire giants. Once I visit the moon, my magic can transport us to and back there after. While the giants are not allies of the demons, they would know how to use the portal I take it, then they will be a third party. One that has more to gain and could be bargained with more easily by demons then us. The giants are arrogant enough to think they can deal with demons and the demons would consider the giants good enough pawns to pretend to be dealing with them. Not to mention as I said they are known to work together, a uncommon thing among the giant races. This could be a scouting party or splinter group from a larger force. Which could lead to even bigger problems for us if left alone." He grips his snake staff. "All that being said. I would rather we be done with them. I doubt even we can lay waste to them all at once. If they surrender then I will spare them. If not, then they have made their choice. While I am loath to strike down fleeing or defeated foes. I show no mercy in battle, that is how comrades die. Call me a selfish man but I consider comrades more valuable then enemies."
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
"Portals are rare things, not easy to create even by the most powerful of spellcasters. I doubt there is another that leads to the moon in existence. As for the fire giants being approachable. That too I doubt, they are the most militaristic of the giant races as well as the best at working together. Combine that with their racial superiority complex towards any race smaller then them and arrogance, well unless your very convincing as well as seen to be a threat not easily crushed they will most likely attack or demand tribute before attacking." He did not blame the fire giants, a lone one could level a village with ease. The naturally strong had a bad habit of abusing their gifts, but then again that's where self control and morality came in. Something he would never accuse a average fire giant of possessing in abundance.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
"Well they are as expected, fire giants. The gate is a portal to the moon, I guess we found how they made it there and back. The portal seems to be Azlanti in design and among their last acts before their fall. The problem I foresee is that the portal is inactive, I suspect some sort of key or means of activation is needed. Something we will need to know if we plan to make use of it. Then again their is the matter of the fire giants in the way."
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
"Well I have a spell that will allow me to see your memory. The memory will be no longer then a minute, which should be enough. With that level of detail I may be able to add my own expertise without having to scout in person. If you would allow it." If allowed he goes to touch Apex but stops sort. "Do lower any protections you may have. Last thing we want are wards going off, yours or mine." Once that is done he speaks a few words as one hand goes through the motions and then touches Apex. Viewing the memory of the giants and the gate. He had some guesses as to type of giant and the gate, but he would like to confirm. He was especially interested in the gate, if it was a rare portal then he would dearly wish to study it. That kind of permanent and powerful magic was mostly lost in this age. Only the elves had any knowledge of it and mostly it was only of their use not creation. As even their long lives were lost to time. Could it be a elven gate or some other culture. Knowledge (Local) vs Giants: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31

"I have a simple spell for that. As long as you do not go to far out, it should be fine." He points to himself and everyone in turn as he completes the spell with a word and single gesture. "Ah yes it does not work through barriers. So make sure you do not have anything blocking yourself from us. For example a door, granted that would be something odd to find around a volcano. Unless it's fire giants, but I suppose that would seem more like a gate to us. Anyways keep that in mind, please." Cast Message on everyone.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Seems my post was eaten. Will try to recreate it. Little retcon. >.< Cael shakes his head. "I prefer my own flying abilities, would not be much of an aeromancer if I was lacking in that field. Concerning protection from the elements and such, I have my own magic and racial gifts for that. It is interesting how magic effects ones physicality, but I won't bore you with that. I appreciate the offer none the less." Those with sharp eyes for details notice Cael is taller then he should be. The answer lies at his feet which are slightly above the ground and hovering. It seems he has not been touching the ground for some time. _____________________________________________________________________ Cael looks the volcano over with his magic sensing eyes. "Well if it's a gateway to the elemental plane of fire, then immunity to fire or some form of protection would be needed. But seeing as he is on the moon, unless they used it as a medium between the two that makes no sense." He is more thinking out loud then anything.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
I would say the city sense a volcano does not have detailed enough descriptions for teleportation. What features would it have that other volcanos don't for example. Even Greater Teleport needs a certain level of detail, a city has them aplenty but a location in the wilderness not so much.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Placing his staff in a strap behind his back he moves forward. "Normally I cast a spell for emergency escapes everyday. It allows you to teleport with a thought back to the location it was cast at. It will last for seventeen hours and everyone must be with in thirty feet of me when it is used or it will not effect you. I can share this spell, if your inclined to accept it, please step forward. Once everyone who is interested steps forward he cast the spell with a few magical words and one handed gestures. "If everyone is ready to leave then, please hold hands and try not to let go." Not that they would be able to in that moment of teleportation but some found it comforting. Once everyone does as asked he speaks a arcane word and the world falls away in an instant. A sensation of being weightless and having your entire being squeezed by an infinity of purple light, suddenly the world is back with a vengeance. Solid ground beneath your feet jolts your legs, sounds come roaring where none were before, and sights are both pale yet intense. Cael for his part shows little to no discomfort. "Well can't say I enjoy that method of travel but its useful and you get used to it." Cast Getaway and then Greater Teleportation.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Cael sends a message through the scrying. "Don't worry my friend. You will be free." Thinking it best to keep it brief and vague in case the demons extracted the information somehow. He leaves the spell active just long enough to give Blood the chance to reply. If he does not. Cael then cuts the connection and thinks on the coming journey and what he will need to get the coming day. _____________________________________________________________________ The meeting day arrives and Cael exits his tower to wait for the others to arrive. It had been a long time sense he went on anything like this, on second thought he had never gone on anything like this. He may have visited another plane before but never a moon. Added some spells to my spellbook. Think that's all he needed. Cast Greater False Life and Mind Blank beforehand as normal.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Cael can recast it four more times. So he does as needed. I will not make it easy on the dice. >:) Sidenote- Cael knows Blood well (-5) and I am pretty sure he could get a picture or likeness (-2) easy considering how well known Blood is and his position. Getting a possession or garment (-4) maybe. Please take that into consideration on the will saves. The DC is 26 btw.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Retcon Once he leaves the others he takes off into the air. Heading back to his tower directly. Once there he makes sure all his wards and protections are in place then enters his divination room. It is a rounded chamber with a number of items for focusing the energy of divination magic. It did not see much use, he rarely used such magical means of information gathering sense he withdrew from activity with the Pathfinders. Still that school of magic had served him well and he was proficient with it for a number of reasons. He would start with one of his most powerful spells for finding someone. It was also a rather complex spell, so it would take time. After ten full minutes of making the complex string of gestures and invoking the incantation, it took full effect. Once that spell was complete and he gained the result he attempts a second slightly less powerful spell, it required less time and produced more direct results if successful. Cast Discern Location and Greater Scrying.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
Opps sorry I mentioned divinations in the last part of my background. Guess it did not count, he would have gone through a few spells before considering him missing/disappeared. Anyways thanks to Cael's class feature he can lose any spells to cast divination spells. So going to make a retcon post before the meeting time outside his tower with the others. ;)
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
I would like to point out a few things. First, Cael's divinations got nothing. So if all his magic was blocked or useless then we are left with physical means only. Which would explain why our masked friend got so much info we could not ourselves, what with having an organization to do the legwork. Concerning Brythen and the college. They are a secretive school of magic. They are not going to let anyone snoop around, ironically the one with the power to let us is the target of our investigations. Also I don't think Blood was a share personal things with people at work type so questioning them could be a waste of time. Or draw bad attention. But just my take on it. If it is feasible then Cael may have some pull sense he is an enigma of the college. But the DM will determine how much pull that has.
Male Sylph Air Elementalist (Wind Listener) 16
"When I say tomorrow, I mean when the sun rises. I don't see how you can be confused about noon. It takes a full day to occur once passed after all. I will be indisposed until then. If you require more time then I am fine with it." The tower meeting is at noon, not morning in case you missed it.
