On a related note, what did you do to get cast out by Urgathoa... cure the sick ? Serve unspoiled milk? .... dare I say, clean the tea urn?

Essentially, church politics. The Society had sent me as part of a team to try and talk sense to a fellow cleric of Urgathoa who was being ridiculously blatant. Her "pale-pox" scheme was rapidly rousing the entire populace of north-east Andoran against her, and by extension against the cult of Urgathoa. Once we caught up to her, there was no reasoning, and I joined in the effort to throw her soul to Judgement.

It seems she had powerful friends in the hierarchy, and that there is a technical sin about killing a priest and not reanimating her corpse.

Out of character, this change happened when the Undead Lord was banned. I rebuilt Cadavrul into a straight-forward cleric, and took the opportunity to change death gods while I was at it.

After being cast out of the church of Urgathoa, I have come to serve Charon, my Lord of Death and Water.

Now, now, now, colleagues: Eric has a right to his position.

Eric, my service to Charon, lord of the Styx, limits the flexibility I might have, ministering to living creatures such as yourself.

You insist that I heal your wounds, and by the powers granted me I shall be all too happy to oblige. But I would require in turn a little, shall we say, adjustment on your part. After all, it's not PvP if the victim insists upon it.

I began my tenure as a pathfinder as an undead lord in good standing in the church of Urgathoa. My spiritual buddy Coleg often wore the bones or skin of a dead animal, rather than a humanoid, to spare the feelings of his associates.

Then I found myself in dilemma. The Society was in conflict with a priestess of the Mother of Want over a plan she had devised to plunge great swathes of Andoran into disease and wasting. I has to choose: to stand beside my Society allies or to follow Urgathoa's priestess. I chose to be a Pathfinder first, and was stripped of my station and powers.

Charon, the Lord of Death, took me in, for reasons of his own, and has voiced no complaints as I explore, report, and cooperate.

Urgathoa was the mortal woman who, when faced with death and the judgement of Pharasma, decided she'd have none of that, walked back to the land of the living, and became the lady of the undead. If you ask me, she's the embodiment of self-determination and will.

She's taken the portfolio of gluttony, but that's just another name for appetite. She's the goddess of knowing what you want in life, and the commitment to pursue it to your utmost, whatever the cost.

I've come to respect that. It's not Good, certainly, not the way Shelyn is Good, and the Pallid Princess herself technically clocks in as Evil, but that determination, that hunger? Those are neither good nor evil, and I think more people could be brought into her fold, if they understood that.

I stand before you as one of her Undead Lords. Please, good people, resume your seats; the doors are barred from the other side to give me a chance to explain myself.

The Osirians know the the walking dead are merely our own parents, grandparents, and honored ancestors. The simplest, the unminded menials, are still to be respected as creatures that serve in their place when commanded by the living.

The more powerful, those who have their minds restored as well, are fonts of ancient wisdom, and testaments to the results of dedication. We should either engage them, respect them from a distance, or oppose their harshest entreaties, as we see fit. If we follow the example Urgathoa, we decide what we want to do, and we turn forth to do it with all our strength.

Good day, brother in arms. You will find many in the Pathfinder Society to welcome you. Others keep their distance or are openly hostile. It is a small price we pay, knowing as we do how Urgathoa repays those who loyally serve her.

Coleg is my corpse companion, moving from body to body as necessary. He often dwells in the body of an animal; it would seem that some Pharasmites ind it more objectionable to animate the corpses of people, than of beasts.

Sometimes, one of the venture captains assigning us our mission blanches at my power, or favors the objections of an erstwhile colleague who cannot reconcile her own beliefs with my company. In those times, I do not impose, but rather recommend another Pathfinder for the venture captain to assign to the mission in my place.

Kronin / Talonkawke, I'm glad that your views are clear, and if you were my GM, I'd expect you to let me know that, at your table, raising my zombie chum is okay, but spreading disease is not.

Other GMs might feel differently about each, or about my repeatedly casting infernal healing, or harming people by channelling negative energy, or killing downed opponents with death knell. It's good to talk these things through.
