Background:

Ottmar Manstein comes from a lower middle-class family of Marienburg. The Mansteins are a hardy stock, loyal citizens of the Empire and devout followers of its traditions. Ottmar's father Erich is a life-long member of the city militia, his mother Ludovica works as a seamstress.

Initially following in his father's footsteps of becoming a soldier, Ottmar instead decided to join the Cult of Sigmar. He heard priests preaching the Warrior God's message in the streets and pulpits in Marienburg. The Manstein's are proud of Ottmar's decision and though they worry and pray for him, they feel he is walking a devout path. Ottmar is an idealist: he fervently believes that Sigmar watches over the Empire in general and over him specifically. At the monastery where Ottmar trained he heard rumors of corruption at the highest levels of the Church of Sigmar but he dismisses them. He believes that the Cult is pure and holy.

The Brotherhood assigned Ottmar to the Church of Averheim where he facilitates worship, maintains vigil, and recites liturgy. He also ministers to some of the surrounding villages and helped drive off a small band of beastmen. Ottmar considers it an honor to serve Sigmar in this fashion.
