Bridgitte stands up suddenly. "Isaac was right. This is hard." To Raina, "There was no deception. I told you. My injuries were genuine." To Orcen, "There was no other way. I needed to know who would help, who would watch, and who would laugh with the cruel." She nods at the dwarf. "Mere questions are not enough. This is why. So that this infernal confusion will be banished again!"

She ignores the rest of your questions and walks to the stairs upstairs, clearly upset.

The dwarf looks back and forth with a twinkle in his eye to match the polished brass in his beard, hair, and upon his face.

"To avoid true deception, the injuries had to be real. And we had to know who you were."

The dwarf next to her laughed. "I told her just to lie. Most of you are too stupid to know the difference. But to directly lie is against the 'code.' Foolishness. All I had to do was laugh, and it is easy to laugh at her."
