This is going to sound strange especially as i am extremely happy at the direction that paizo publishing has gone. However here is my question Following on from 3.5 to be honest was an obvious but brave decision and will yield you a lot of support but what happens four or five years down the road. Will you be looking to take the game in more radical directions but still maintaining its roots? What do people think or wish. For me i want paizo to keep going build on the feedback and take those brave next steps.
Hi everyone was wondering if anyone could share there initial thoughts around how the game played out. Were there any surprises ect What worked well not so that sort of thing. As i have said in another thread i will be using the system however only after the current campaign concludes. So please share your feedback Regards Boggle
Ok Here is an example in my humble view of an item that is massively useful as a cursed item Dust of sneezing and choking (pg540 pf) If you make the save dc15 fortitude you are still stunned 5d4 rounds stunned means drops anything held, ac drops by two points, and losses it dexterity bonus so can be sneaked attacked and the big one is they cant take actions. Wow A fantastic one off item if used skillfully So can you think of any others or do you not agree?
To be honest in my group that has been running for other twenty five years no one ever plays the bard. even thou the new rules give it a bit more it just has never worked as the jack of all trades. I think it still is way off in terms of effectiveness and what it can do. Can anyone please tell me if you would play one why?
Mine is ray of enfeeblement now that you get a save for half strength loss against fortitude makes sense. Being a dm this was a necessary step i loved to use spells and undead together just a shadow and necromancer enemy could give the group a hard time. I still think acid arrow should have been changed in a similar way its still the same and having recently used it maximized and empowered its pretty amazing.
Hi everyone I have expressed several times my view however i wanted to see what others reactions were and why. Will I buy the core books yes however will i play it that will massively depend on its true quality. If its like second edition which became a patch work quilt of rules then simply put no way pedro? If the rules are fun continue to encourage team play and its not a cake walk for the players in terms of death ie there being a repocussion for all actions then great im in. As a good friend once said to me you make the game it should not be the other way round. The rules are only a mechanic however good rules make it so much easier to mesh quality stories something i feel D&D currently achieves. Change is unfortunately apart of life now and for our hobby to continue and grow it must attract new players that means imbracing technology. However until you can see real people and hear there voice its not roleplaying. Also in some 25 years i have seen only a couple of programs on the subject i think its time it was incorporated into tv mainstream.
I put myself forward to dm it by the way i have a great campaign world all i need are some players. Anyway until i get my big chance i say lets see what its like and lets hope its good.
My world is called Melstarian crystals. It is set in a time about a hundred years after a great war. The dark folk creatures rose up beating the known races. Your community live underground. You might be the last of your kind. I will be using the following system to role up characters you use an 18 / 16 / 14 /12 /10 / 8 arranged as you like add in racial bonuses. As this is my first pbm i may need some help from my players however i am a very experienced gm. I will only be using the core books. Any takers let me know i am looking for about six players
I feel that some skills should be roleplayed i cant stand the thought of i would like to bluff the guard as an example ok roll.
I cannot understand why wizards want to change almost everything when they have a fantastic set of mechanics right now.
Hi everyone Firstly i want to say that as an experienced dm i think the pathfinder series is spot on. The story line requires no major adjustments to work and the npc,s and monsters are well thought through. I found the pathfinder book in my new local gaming store. I would not normally pick up any roleplay book however the art work blew me away. I loved pictures and maps and so bought it. When i got it home i began to read it. I have to be honest and say that if something dos not grab me from the first page its history. Well neadless to say it did. I absoulutly love the story i have roleplayed as a dm for some twenty five years with the same group. You can only imagine how difficult that is. To be constantly creative and to keep pushing the roleplay envelope is not an easy task. My group and myself are not easily pleased. Anyway i am planning on running this game in january i cant wait.I currently have parts one and two. I have some small points that could be usefull to all. Firstly although you have an area map of sanpoint and a map of sandpoint there is no map of the wider geography. This becomes all the more annoying in the second path when i wanted to know were the city of magnimar was. I appreciate the answer lies in your free players pdf however i think you should include this map in all the books. I like the pathfinder journals and feel they could be letters sent to one of the characters. It would be a great way to share the bigger world and i feel it makes the whole emmersion in to the game world come alive. I like the information on the diety desna in the second path however i would like this about all of them at the beggining before the campaign. The bestiary sections are top draw you could use these a hundred and one ways and i especially like the beast of sandpoint. It might make a fascinating side trek at higher levels may be as the campaign nears it end. The dm side bars that are highlighted in a style of old parchment in the pathfinder books are priceless. I would also like to have seen more information on the goblin attacks in path one and some maps however its a small point. My overall view is a top draw product that made me visit your web site and realise what a great comapny you are. Well done to all involved - whats your thoughts? |
