Game Ended

Still benefiting from the concealment of her summoned mist, Betha casts one more spell before leaping down to join her sister in the assault on the beast.

sickening strikes

Game Ended

Deciding to reduce her targeting cross-section, Betha chants the words to another spell and shrinks in size to half her original height.

reduce person

AC is now 19

Game Ended

Betha turns back to the tower with a glare.

"As much as I love being the cream in the cookie ..." she mutters to herself before casting a spell that causes clouds of mist to emanate from her location. Very quickly the fog surrounds her and she vanishes.

Using the mist as cover, she moves closer to the huge beast, readying her weapon as she goes.

obsuring mist - 20' radius fixed on caster's original location.

Game Ended

The game is entertaining. I'm not that attached to Betha, though. If you're not having fun running the game then I wouldn't be heart-broken to see the game end.

A solo game has it's own draw, but the Greek theme doesn't really do anything for me.

Game Ended

"Damn! Betha curses as she looks back and forth between the door into the gatehouse and the manticore. Deciding that the monster visible is a bigger threat than the unknown, she dashes towards it throwing a hex as she moves across the battlements.

misfortune hex DC 14 at the manticore. It's probably going to fail, but what the heck.

Game Ended

Excuse me? Mr. Conductor? I believe I'm on the wrong bus. Could you drop me off somewhere along here, please?

Game Ended

Unless there's an opposition, Betha would like to arrive at night. No buffs.

Betha's eyes travel over the structure, looking for likely ambush locations and places to hide.

"I'm going to climb up and check out the gatehouse," she whispers with a grin.

She moves quietly to the base of the structure and her hands move over the stone, getting a sense of how difficult of a climb it would be.

Stairs? Why would she use the obvious stairs? That's what someone would be expecting. ;)

Game Ended

Betha seems slightly dissatisfied with the time she spent with the Sheriff. "She was the Sheriff; she should have been tougher than that. I expected so much more from her," she says with a shake of her head.

~~~~
Betha is going to spend a little bit of time attempting to locate their hobgoblin mercenary. He would be very useful in any assault on the fort.
Game Ended
Once the woman's hands are tied, Betha continues to the feet and completes her preparations with a gag. She then drags the woman into the hall with the cells and sits her up against the bars of one of the cells and secures her there.
The witch takes a moment to seat herself comfortably next to the bound woman and strokes her cheek to wake her up. When her eyes flicker open. Betha smiles back hungrily.
"You and I are going to have so much fun. I only wish I had more time. It's also a shame I have to gag you. There are all sorts of things we could do if your mouth was free. But since I can't have you screaming for help ..." She shrugs.
Betha will spend no more than thirty minutes satisfying whatever evil urges she possesses before ending the ex-sheriff's life. Unless, for some reason, the other two want her kept alive.
Betha returns to the front area a little while later, a sated look on her face.
Game Ended
"Oh, it's always so much more fun when they're alive," Betha says, barely suppressing a giggle.
Once she finishes, she shuts the door, shoves a chair up against it for good measure and returns to her unconscious prisoner. She looks around at her sisters with a maniacal grin. "So is there anything important either of you wish to ask her before I get to play?"
Game Ended
Betha laughs and flips Staelish onto her stomach and begins binding her hands.
She has plans. ;)
Game Ended
Now wait just a minute. This is an evil campaign; Isn't that our job?
Game Ended
"You've been up all night," Betha whispers to the deputy facing her. "Don't you feel the weight of your exhaustion dragging you down?" she asks with a smile.
Yeah, the way she's rolling, this isn't going to work. But, what the heck. *shrug*
Defensive Casting - Sleep - DC 17: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 centered to catch both deputies.
:O
DC 14 Will save or fall asleep - here's to hoping they have fewer HD than we do.
Game Ended
With a laugh, Betha slashes at the deputy in front of her.
Katana Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
I'm going to just have to resign myself to the fact that Betha is crap in combat. ;)
Since the building is a jail, I assume it's not flammable?
When in doubt ... eh? *laughs*
Betha plans to listen for another five or ten minutes to count any more voices.
If she hears none, she whispers to the others, "On three. One ... Two ... " She then bursts through the door, drawing her katana in the process.
Game Ended
Once they get close to the jail, Betha smiles at her sisters. Her bright, white teeth shining in the darkness. She moves quietly to check to see if the jail door is locked.
Game Ended
Before they leave, Betha strips Allamar's body and then drags it up onto the profaned alter for the villagers to find.
She makes sure that they takes their leave of Ingoe before setting out for Ash House. She's not entirely comfortable with someone knowing exactly where they're recuperating.
"So, shall we wait until tomorrow night before making a visit to the jail and our friendly local sheriff?"
Game Ended
Once the trio of defilers conclude their physical activities, Betha wraps herself in her cloak and relaxes back on one of the pews. Her gaze lingers for a bit on the altar. "Speaking of profaning a sacred site," she says, catching Jordanna's eye and looking at the altar pointedly. "Isn't one of your common complaints that your bundle of joy is constantly bouncing on your bladder?"
~~~~

Betha would like to spend the day here inside the church with the doors locked and barred. Once/if nightfall arrives, she recommends paying a quiet visit to the jail.

Game Ended

If given the chance, Betha will recommend not beheading the priestess.

"Bodies are easier to recognize with their heads and we want people to know who she was," she explains.

"Yes, we saw the manticore at the old fort. Who is L.V.? Let's rest here for the day and visit the jail tomorrow night."

She gets Ingoe to help her drag both bodies back to the coffin at the alter. "She wanted to be close to her children," she says with disdain. "In death she finally gets her wish."

She bars the door and checks any other entrances. While their elder sister rests, she offers Ingoe a reward for his efforts and offers for Jordanna to join them.

Game Ended

Betha again attempts to move past the floating magical weapon.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Game Ended

With the paralysis finally fading away, Betha growls in anger and moves forward through the other archway. She attempts to move past the animated weapon to strike at the woman responsible for it.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Ok, all my rolls this morning are total crap. :(

Game Ended

I'm good on the map.

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Betha stands there unmoving and wonders what her first mistake was.

Why do I get the feeling that I've ticked off either the dice gods or the GM? And for the life of me, I don't know which would be worse.

Game Ended

Yep, I saw them.

Game Ended

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

"Looking for a son and you get a ghoul instead," Betha says with a shake of her head. "Isn't that always the way it goes." Her smile belies her supposed sympathy.

She charges forward to strike at the woman, drawing her blade in the process.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6 charge
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Sneak Attack Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

"Yes, the temple first," Betha agrees. "I think eliminating her will increase the chance that we'll lose control of the town, but if we don't ... We can't have her constantly speaking out against us with impunity. If we don't remove her, we're guaranteed to lose it."

She sighs, but then grins.

"You're earning yourself a big reward after this is all done, Ingoe. Think you'll be able to handle it?"

Game Ended

"I'm sure you know all the secret ways in and out of the docks," Betha coos to Ingoe. "Let's go that way."

Game Ended

"Yes, let us return," Betha says with a grin. "Silent, Stealthy, and Savage."

She turns to Ingoe. "Yes, Love. Some of your people would help, but only those that can move quietly. And perhaps someone that can open a locked door, just in case."

She looks back at her sisters. "So? The jail or the temple?" she asks.

Game Ended

Ok, I decided to go with Persuasive. It looks like Betha is the face of the group.

"Don't cut their heads off," Betha chastises. "That would be silly. Then no one could see who they were. Just cut their throats. Then we hang them up by their feet, naked, in the town square."

"And I think a straight up fight won't end well for us. They'll just bring a mob and we'll be back to where we started. We need to find out where these people sleep and deal with them then."

She smiles at the thought of finding the ex-sheriff asleep in bed and what could be done to her while she was helpless.

Game Ended

Betha will be happy to confide in Alyssa that the sisters should return tonight. Then, if everything goes to plan, everyone will wake up to find fruit on the tree again. Ex-Sheriff Staelish, hanging upside down from her feet, naked, with her throat cut.

Would that make Alyssa feel better? :) :)

That's more Betha's style anyways.

Game Ended

"Jordanna! Alyssa! Now is the time to leave!" Betha insists, standing on the pier.

Game Ended

Betha looks back at her clearly blood-crazed sisters as she stands next to Ingoe. "Yeah, I'm not with them. Let's go," she says.

To be clear - No that didn't happen. :) :) Totally OOC.

Game Ended

"Jordanna!" Betha calls, tugging at her sister's arm. "Time now to regroup!"

She then makes a dash towards the ship.

Withdraw

Game Ended

"How many more of you are willing to die to fuel this woman's ego? She cares nothing for you!"

She slashes at the ex-deputy in front of her.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

She draws on her energy again to continue her assault.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

*rolls eyes*

Is it time for the better part of valor, ladies? We're really not kitted for a straight-up mass battle like this.

Game Ended

Betha targets the same deputy that Jordanna attacked.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Frustrated at her ineffectiveness, she expends some of her Ki to strike again.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

And is rewarded with blood. hopefully?

Game Ended

"How nice it must be to obey or disobey the law at your whim, Rhonda. How convenient to be able to enforce it or ignore it whenever you choose. Take a good look at your leader, people. She doesn't care about the law. She doesn't care about you. She only cares for the power that being at the tip of a mob creates."

"We were appointed by the lawful authorities. You are just a mob. Mob rule is worse than even anarchy. Just look at Galt. As soon as someone is under suspicion or a little bit different, the force of the mob is turned against them."

She indicates one of the torch holders who possesses a distinct beard. "So when the mob turns on you because they don't like the cut of your beard, who will you turn to? Are you ready to discard the law so quickly? To dismiss it when it's inconvenient? Or you?" She points to another man holding a makeshift club. "When they start eyeing your son because he doesn't walk the same as the others? Because he's different? You'll want to turn to the refuge of the law, but once you've dismissed it by something like ... like this ..." She gestures to the stakes and firewood. "It's quite slippery to regain. Don't cross that line."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Or we could leave quietly ... *shrug*. ;P

Game Ended

"It's already established that they're traitors," Betha says with a smirk. "The law's on our side. We'll just hang them again. Hope they enjoy it as much this time."

She surveys the dark, empty square.

"Let's find Ingoe."

Game Ended

"I don't think we'll be killing it tonight," Betha says with a frown. "We'll need much more powerful magic, or at least reinforcements. That creature is more than a match for all three of us."

She looks over the ruins.

"We know where the culprit is hold up and they probably aren't moving their base anytime soon. We should head back to town."

The woman gives Jordanna a knowing look. "Perhaps we should pay a visit to Ingoe. He might have some leads on festering boils of sedition that need to be ... put down."

Game Ended

"Let's wait until it gets dark," Betha says quietly. "The night is always more comforting." She smiles showing her straight white teeth.

Game Ended

Someday I'll GM a forum game. I've run ... umm ... lots of games FtF. In most of my RP experience, that role has fallen to me. And since I'm not tellin' how many years that's been ... ;)

Let's just say that Brainiac isn't the only GM who needs the de-stress. :) :)

Game Ended

So, do we get a prize?

Game Ended

"No, they probably won't try a jailbreak," she snaps back at Alyssa. "They'll just burn down the jail - with us in it." She shakes her head. "Sorry. I'm frustrated because it feels like we're losing control of the situation and there's only three of us. If it comes down to it, I have no doubt the powers here will gladly let us take the brunt of the rebels need for blood."

The tall woman looks across to the three bodies dangling in the wind.

"We need to find out who that man was and finish him quietly before he inspires more like these." She gestures towards the corpses cooling on the ground.

Game Ended

Betha seems quite annoyed at how ineffective she was against the mounted figure.

"So who in the hell was that!?" she shouts out to the others as the figure rides away. "They just made us look like incompetent tavern maids!"

Could we tell from the shouting voice whether the 'knight' was male or female?

In frustration, she walks over to the two unconscious townsfolk. "Open rebellion? The penalty is death," she says in a cold voice as she sinks her blade into each one in turn. She wipes the weapon clean on one of the bodies and then slams it back into its scabbard.

"This is going to get really ugly before it gets better."

Game Ended

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Betha shakes off the enchantment and steps forward to slash at the figure with her katana.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Katana Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

She then draws up reserves from within herself to slash at him again.

spending a ki point to make an additional attack ...

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Game Ended

Once she gets closer to the armored figure, Betha attempts to make out who's wearing the guise.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 hopefully avoiding the distance penalty

She then attempts to unseat the figure by the most convenient means possible - she casts a spell targeted directly on them.

sleep - DC 13 Will save. figuring that it will probably target the horse first. :)

Game Ended

"Cut off the head and the body falls," Betha intones as she draws her blade and attempts to move through the crowd to get closer to the mounted figure.

Is that possible without tons of AoO rolls?

Game Ended

"We need to finish this, now!" Betha hisses as she charges forward with her blade to attack the being's unguarded flank.

Katana Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18 flanking
Katana Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Sneak Attack Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
