"A drink for the newcomer! Rafiki, put another one on my tab" The brandy is having its intended effect on Bartholomew, and while his spirits rise, so does his tab. "Who's up for another wizards duel?"

Bartholomew tries to cast dancing lights, but fails. As primal magic takes over, he notices that somehow the aurora borealis is inside the tavern, and becomes dazed by it. If anyone is withing five feet of him they also see the strange spectacle and are dazed for a round unless they make a will save of 15. Everyone else just sees the wizard transfixed, blinking at the ceiling.

"I'm afraid I don't deal in weaponry or armor. But I have worked with a wonderful dwarf named Riggar. We crafted a fine cloak together not long ago. Tell him I sent you, and maybe he'll cut you a deal. That is, assuming the cloak I made didn't fail him. If that's the case, he may double the price. Can I interest you instead in a stylish headband instead? It seems like you are a man who could appreciate a good headband. I make them in all styles and colors. This one here enhances my cognitive power." Bartholomew takes his headband off and practically forces Yue Fei to feel it's thread count.

"A round of applejack for the house!" Cries Bart. "May good fortune meet you all." He mage-hands the coins over to Rafiki.
Turning to Yue, "Well it looks to me that you have come back in one piece. And with gold burning holes in your pockets too eh? Well it just so happens that I make all sorts of fine magical artifacts, so I am well equipped to help you with the problem of your full purse."
Bartholomew takes a drink from the glass of brandy and practically melts on his bar stool. "My compliments to you Rifiki. This is truly the finest drink I've ever had. I should get into duels more often if this is the result."
Turning back to Yue, "Well come now friend. You can't just tantalize us by saying you've seen terrible things and leave it at that. I don't think anyone is offering adventuring work tonight. I could use a good story."

"Sorry it wasn't very exciting. I was just about to use some primal magic too like this..."
Bartholomew casts a quickened spell calling on primal magic
concentration check DC 20:1d20 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 6 = 26
Obscuring mist begins to seep out from his location. You can her from in the cloud of mist, "Ha, free spell pulled from the very essence of magic itself. That's the first time it's been successful. Looks like I am learning. My mother would be so proud!"

Bartholomew dismisses the deafness spell.
"Well fought. I feel I have learned a great deal! You had me worried with that color spray spell earlier. So, how about that drink?"
Bartholomew moves to 30ft away and casts blindness/deafness (2nd level spell - spellcraft DC 17 to identify). This removes invisibility. Make a Fort save DC 17 to avoid becoming
permanently deafened:
Deafened: A deafened character cannot hear. He takes a –4 penalty on initiative checks, automatically fails Perception checks based on sound, takes a –4 penalty on opposed Perception checks, and has a 20% chance of spell failure when casting spells with verbal components. Characters who remain deafened for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.
(or counter...). I believe concealment only gives a 20% miss chance vs attack rolls right? So Blindness/deafness should be unaffected.
Bartholomew, then begins moving his lips silently to make it seem like he's yelling something.

Oh, I completely forgot about my challenge :O
"And if you win, I will agree to muck out the stables. Now it's just a friendly duel to practice skills. Magic only. No killing. No summoning. No using physical weapons. Once the foe is unconscious or unable to cast for one minute, the duel is won. Prepare your spells and meet me in the field by the stream at noon!
Benlei d'Iction and Jacaranda have both left the encounter Fear the Wild. The GM has not posted since July 27th. We have not done anything except set up, so it's a dud. I wouldn't imagine credit should be given.
The players were:
Bartholomew
Finnian
Jacaranda (leaving group)
Benlei d'Iction (inactive for now)

I think it's a good move. The list is kind of nice to see who is available, but at the end of the day, people who check the thread will respond with or without a list.
Bart was asleep, but he would be down for a reading. Would he have to be awake, for it to happen? If not, I'd like a retroactive reading, as it looks like we don't have any more time when we woke up.

Questioning his motive never even crossed my mind.
"Sometimes falling asleep can be difficult. But I've mastered a technique that works every time."
Bartholomew climbs into the cart, arranges his bag as a pillow, lies down, tosses some multi-colored sand into the air. A dazzling flash of light comes from the cart, and you can hear light snoring only moments later.

By the way, guys, I have opened up a small wondrous item shop back in town. If all goes well, I hope to run Rifiki out of business by year's end, so if you were planning on buying anything from that crook, I'll give you 10% off his lowest price.

Back to the crafting bench! If anyone wants some wondrous items made, give me a holler. I have a lot of really nice left over material from a cloak I made earlier.
Crafting in Progress:
Crafting Headband of Intelligence +2
Cost = 2000gp (cost includes silk thread, one very expensive sapphire, extra padding, mind reading silver wires, DIY kit)
DC = 5 + 8(CL) + 5 (don't know fox's cunning) = 18
Spellcraft = 12 + 5 (crafter's fortune) = 17
Time = 2 crafting days
The roll: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Thank goodness for crafter's fortune. Success.

What did you need me to do? There's a dragon that fell into the water. I guess I'll ignore it and go for the lewt. Also, I still don't have any clue about what the dragon is talking about.
