Barezata glides around Silena, ensuring a clear line of fire should hostilities erupt. While Silena seeks to cow the troglodyte, she fixes an arrow on the creature and takes time to study its motion.
No stealth this time, but will go ahead and take the moment to study the creature.

And just been nutty busy for me!

"Well that's that. I guess it won't be bothering them any longer. We should probably make sure it wasn't hiding anything else in its lair."
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

See you soon Megan!

Barezata, caught in the creature's horrid noise, does nothing but stand a babble incoherently.
Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Three 1s in one round!
Confused Effect: 1d100 ⇒ 47

Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Hearing the sound of the creature spitting at Silena, Barezata darts through the door and pauses a moment to look the creature over, trying to find weaknesses in its defenses.
Move into room, staying near the edge. Move action to study the creature.

Barezata whispers back, "I'm not hopeful, but perhaps they can tell us more about the area beyond the hole if anyone has ever returned. I'll get the others and then help cover you when we go in." Once the troglodytes have offered what information they can, Barezata goes back downstairs to get Hijiro and Sonya.

"Grundmoch and Gargler. Two creatures? What do they look like? Do they come to eat your people? Or only people who enter their lair?"

I'm fine checking the upstairs first (if the troglodytes will allow it), but I think we also need to go back into the room we backed out of.

Barezata nods once and removes a couple tools from her pouch once again. She bends to a knee by the doors and proceeds to work on locking them once again.
DD: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40

Once she is done with the lock, she moves to the top of the stairs and waits for Sonya to receive an answer from the troglodytes while listening to the sounds from the bottom of the stairs.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

Barezata comes forward and slowly works her way around the door, checking it for traps. Once done, she moves back and repositions herself to cover the door for any trouble on the other side.
Perception for traps: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
If you don't want to rush, I can take a couple minutes and take 20 for 34.

Barezata nods and moves to cover the door, standing back in case any threats present themselves once it is open.
If you want me to check it, I'll break stealth and come have a look.

Barezata nods, uncertain of what could be causing the lizards' distress, but not willing to give up her cover yet. She watches as Silena works her way to the entrance of the lair and waits for a signal for help.

Seeing that the lizards do not look like they're going to be as easy to frighten as the trogs, Barezata takes a moment to observe their movements and waits for the right opening.
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Barezata cocks her head at the strange hissing and slowly swings her arrow over toward the door.

Have a great time!

Gosh, I'm glad you're ok. What an awful week.

Barezata continues to hold. Taking care to watch the rest of the troglodytes and ready to unleash death upon them if they decide to attack in the aftermath of the priest's death.

Got to agree with Megan. Going into initiative puts us into demoralize territory for Intimidate since it takes a minute of interaction outside combat. I think Sonya is just RPing her character. She's not going to talk to a priest of Lamashtu.

Well, that decides that. Arrows it is.
Let me know if we get a surprise round (probably not). My initiative is +1 if we do and I get bonus damage.
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Not the best start to negotiations, but it will be fun to watch Silena.

Barezata waits in the shadows, hoping to see what the troglodytes will have to say to her companions.

Looks like it was a temporary bug Silena.

Testing...

Barezata slips in, taking up a position in the shadow of one of the arches and watches the troglodytes and her companions as they enter.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Gosh, glad to hear you're better!

Barezata continues to attempt to sneak. If it becomes obvious that she is seen, she just falls in with Silena and Sonya.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (6) + 20 = 26

Barezata continues to follow Silena and Sonya into the troglodyte den, curious how the leader will act.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 20 = 23

Barezata uses Silena's distraction to slip into the structure. hoping she can remain unobserved. If the troglodytes seem to spot her, she'll fall in alongside Silena and Sonya.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28

Barezata holds off on attacking until she hears the results of Silena's attempt to parlay, but lurks with Hijiro near the back of the building.
Take 10s for 30 Stealth and 21 Perception.

Surprised that someone has gotten the drop on her, Barezata marks the location and quickly fades back to the rest of the group where she reports what she has seen so far.

Yeah, I'm not going to try anything fancy. Mostly just trying to get the lay of the land for everyone so we can decide where to begin and if there are any areas where we'll risk triggering domino encounters so we can plot how to attack them.

Turning her nose away, Barezata bounces back to her feet and continues on.

Barezata pauses to study the egg-shaped objects and to see if she can identify them. She doesn't approach the hole, reasoning that she would rather do so with everyone else when she returns. She moves on, continuing her silent circuit of the compound.
Knowledge (local) (studied): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Take 10 on Stealth for 30 and Take 10 on Perception for 21.

Barezata agrees with the plan to start from the south east breach. "I'll plan to make one circuit of the area, then come back."
Same plan as before, but with one circuit around the area. Just trying to look for outer building descriptions and any guards. Take 10 on Stealth for 30 and Take 10 on Perception for 21. Not entering any structures until we're all together. Agree with plan to start at F assuming no nearby guards at other areas.

Barezata nods and slips off into the ruin, disappearing quickly as she fades into the shadowy structures.
Taking 10 for 30 on Stealth. Taking 10 for 21 on Perception. If anyone spots her, she will take the most direct path that she has already traversed back to the rest of the group.

Barezata will make it a point not to accept any spells from Silena out of combat. She is very suspicious of authority and organized religion to begin with.

Barezata nods toward the ruins of the temple. "Looks like we found our quarry. Want me to scout ahead? I can either see what is here and come back or if there are a small number of guards, I could try to take them out."

Barezata walks as quietly as she can, observing the surroundings carefully. She keeps her bow out and nocked at all times, ready for trouble.
Probably easiest to either assume taking 10 on Stealth and Perception with Stealth having the full speed penalty. So Stealth of 25 and Perception of 21 unless something special occurs.

Good to go.

I'm fine leaving in the evening.

Silena, this is Megan's call, but I'm honestly a little worried about how much we might unbalance this AP with all of the downtime rules and setting up potion shops outside the dungeons. I think we're already at an advantage because of playing Pathfinder characters rather than 3.5 characters.

Would probably be good to know if Megan plans to crank up the difficulty to account for that. If not and we all want to concentrate on story and don't care about easy fights, I'm ok with that. I have lots of other games where we live by the seat of our pants. On the flip side, if Megan is planning to crank up the difficulty in response to us squeaking out every advantage, bring it on! :)

Barezata suggests to Silena, "Its not far. 30 miles or so. Even if we walk it should be around two days there and two days back. Let's pack light. Maybe 10 days rations for each of us. I'm afraid the horses and cleric are likely to end up as gnoll food so I'd suggest we leave them back in Kelmarane."

While everyone else is preparing, Barezata seeks out news of this House of the Beast and the surrounding area. She is particularly interested in any information on the location, terrain, length of time to get there, and any known information on the disposition of gnoll soldiers.
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

Yay! Have a great time!

"Looks like we'll have to figure it out the hard way. This Carrion King sounds like trouble. Should we see what else we can learn around Kelmarane?"
Oops, cross-posted with Silena. I'll go ahead and give a Knowledge (local)...
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Yes, makes for good fun! BTW, I'm running a con this weekend so if I'm slow Fri-Sat-Sun, that's why.

You can see Barezata's cheeks rise in a predatory grin behind her veil. "I'd answer them. I'd be happy to work together for now and sort things out when our interests collide, but you're not getting out of here without a straight answer."
Of course Barezata will be waiting to see if we get that straight answer...
