Halfling Druid build
Hello there. I have a halfling Druid that just reached level 9 and I am trying to respec to both fit the party comp better as well as be the Druid I want to play.
As such, I want a Twice-upgraded animal companion (indomitable),
I want Wild shape myself with Form Control
And in order to use all this stuff/actually have focus points, I want to start as a leaf Druid, also because I’ve had a leshy familiar and make all kinds of baby Groot jokes with him.
Anyway, class feats would be:
1-leaf
2-order explorer animal
4-mature animal companion
5-(this is the issue)-via adopted ancestry (human-natural ambition)-wild shape
6-form control
8-incredible (indomitable) companion
The probably obvious issue is that natural ambition gives a lvl1 class feat, which wild shape is, but I need the lvl 2 order explorer feat to gain wild shape (which is granted if I take order explorer).
I realize I could drop form control at 6 and just have order explorer there, but I really like the role playing aspect of changing shape for longer.
Some thoughts I had were to take some kind of penalty (drop the goodberry spell, take an ability flaw, or drop a skill, general feat, etc) if my DM is willing, but I am not sure what is fair or not fair. I could also just start animal or wild, but I’d be sad to lose my focus point and familiar.
Another thought I had was at level 9 through adopted ancestry I could take multi-talented to “multi class” into the wild shape order, but I’m not sure if it’s legit to use an archetype for the class I already have. I don’t feel like this is trying to break the system and in fact I’d be giving up “guiding luck” if I went this route, but that’s really where I’d like to be.
Does anyone have any thoughts about what would be reasonable as an exchange to basically upgrade my natural ambition feat to a level 2 instead of level 1? Or other ways to get this build? Or do I just need accept that I am waiting until lv 14 (because I really want to be a dragon by 12 and need soaring then dragon shape) to have form control? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks!
