Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
/jawdrop I totally didn't expect that to actually finish him off. I figured he had a lot of health left, since I seem to recall him having a lot of HP. My only other attack was Cone of Cold, which I couldn't use from my position without harming allies as well. Nice job everyone!

Taking extra movement. Baltar, faster than ever, rides his wave right in front of Hugo, ignoring the Grease on the floor. Seeing Krune and his flunky fighting back against his friends down the opposite hall, Baltar calls upon Besmara's wrath and summons an Ice Storm upon his enemies. ICE STORM, 20' radius, no save, area is difficult terrain. It doesn't block vision for anyone. Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Prayer: 1 rounds remaining

I was waiting for everyone to go before doing my action, since everyone's movement altered my decision. Baltar rides his wave 30' down the hall, catching up to his party. Once close enough, he casts BLESSING OF FERVOR for his allies nearby (everyone except Ezrek and Liam.) Prayer: 2 rounds remaining

I apologize about my slow posting recently. My work duties have increased significantly over the last few weeks, and I don't have nearly as much time to check the boards anymore. I'll keep popping in to finish this out, but I just wanted to apologize now for my slow progress for the remainder of the scenario.
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
Okay, reposting current buffs based on how things played out. Prayer: 5 rounds remaining
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
After standing by for a round, then examining the gem, Baltar begins to follow the other cleric's example and cast spells to prepare for what may come. In this order, casting: Align Weapon [Good] (on whoever wants it), Remove Fear, Bless, Prayer (again)
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
Baltar steps into the hallway behind Malinor while drawing his trusty Rod of Reach, peeking around the corner into the room. Feeling a bit helpless, he casts a spell to protect himself and his allies from the horrors they now face. Knowledge Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Using Metamagic Rod of Reach to cast Communal Protection From Evil. I will select myself, Fletch, Malinor, and Liam. They will have 3 minutes, and I will take the remaining 2. Prayer: 10 rounds remaining
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
I wanted to get a ruling on something from the GM, as my planned action isn't quite clear by RAW, and I can't find any clear answer about it. If I use Reach Metamagic to alter a communal spell, like Communal Protection From Evil, can I still deliver to my multiple targets but at range Close instead? My interpretation seems like you can, but I wanted to get your opinion before I post my action for the turn.

Here we go! Baltar speaks a prayer to Besmara, asking for her guidance to loot and plunder as only she would approve. Casting Prayer, Round 1/11. You bring special favor upon yourself and your allies while bringing disfavor to your enemies. You and each of your allies gain a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks, while each of your foes takes a –1 penalty on such rolls.

Baltar feels a rush of excitement come over him, but stifles it before it explodes to the surface. A librarian, after all, needs to maintain proper composure and noise levels at all times. "Well, this last rune seems to evade our efforts. Shall we leave Krune with one of his precious toys and proceed through the door?"
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
"The Rune of Control needs a powerful command to break it, correct? I could cast Greater Forbid Action on it, which is a strong compulsion spell. My hope was to possibly forbid Krune himself from attacking us if it came to it, but if it might be better served to disrupt his wards..." Baltar will defer to the judgment of his allies if he should attempt the Rune or leave it and move on.
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
"I suggest that Hugo direct his summoned insects quickly to the Runes of Life, before they disappear back to their home plane. We have to be quick about it." Frustrated that he hasn't been able to contribute to disabling the runes, Baltar wanders over to the Rune of Control. Powerful commands, hm? I hope Hugo's theory of using summoned beasts to destroy it will work. Otherwise, I will try this rune. Whatever that feeling was, it certainly wasn't pleasant and I'd hate to suffer its effects!
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
Thank you, sir! :) Baltar ponders a bit over this dilemma. "Besmara grants me spells with control over the storms, but I wonder if they would help. I could summon an Ice Storm, which impedes mobility, on the Rune of Alacrity, but do you think that would suffice?" "I can also cast a Hold Person spell, but would the rune respond to something that targets the living? It's a quandary, for certain."
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
I don't remember how many runes I have left to look at, so I'll just rapid-fire for the next three. Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

"A rune of control, eh? I am familiar with spells that enforce control over one's mind. I wonder if this rune is connected to something similar to that. Perhaps Ezrek can know more about it when he is done with his business." Baltar will continue walking the halls with Liam, looking for more runes. He trusts that Liam will keep an eye and ear out for danger.
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
Baltar walks over with Liam to the next rune and begins to quizzically look it over. Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

Round 1 Baltar's eyes widen, surprised that for once, he has no idea what is happening. He takes a 5' step back next to Ezrek and unleashes a torrent of water, trying to push the creature away from him. Surge (Ocean Domain):
Surge (Su): As a standard action, you can cause a mighty wave to appear that pushes or pulls a single creature. Make a combat maneuver check against the target, using your cleric level + your Wisdom modifier as your CMB. If successful, you may pull or push the creature as if using the bull rush or drag combat maneuver. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier. Surge (Push) vs CMD: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24 Channels Used: 1/8

Surprise Round Baltar's jaw drops a bit in the realization of what is transpiring. "Err, uh... guys? I think I read about this in a book. I think that's Kurshu the Undying. Lissala's herald. You know, Lissala, the goddess that's been missing for thousands of years? Anyway, acid is clearly the way to go, in fact it's the only way to truly defeat her. Oh, and don't let her touch you, you'll lose more brain cells than Cayden during happy hour!" Baltar cracks his knuckles, smirking a bit. "Unfortunately for her, evil outsiders like herself are my area of expertise! Besmara, smite her down!" Alignment (Evil) Channel to harm, DC 18 Will for half. "Oh Besmara, watch over us this day." Baltar grabs at the chain around his neck, which resembles a skull and crossbones, and begins to chant. Casting Freedom of Movement and Slipstream on myself. Baltar turns and nods to the members of his party. "Are we ready to proceed into the unknown?"
Male Halfling Cleric of Besmara (Cloistered Cleric) 12
Blah, my last post was supposed to say "MISunderstanding"... Ah well, thanks Liam! Baltar graciously receives the Veil from Liam and straps it on his face. It takes him a moment for his breathing to adjust with a visage of bone and metal covering his mouth. "Impressive. Most impressive." After getting adjusted, Baltar turns again to Sheila, his voice much more muffled than before. "So after we're done with this task... How do we get back from wherever it is we're going?"
Name: The Black Company
The Black Company ...the last of the Free companies of Khatovar. The Black Company is a military force. We are not the turning tide of battles, we're the turning tide of wars. No matter what are the conditions we'll do what is necesssary to win and fulfill our contracts, we're elite soldiers but our expertise lies on another field. We are cunning,we'll trap supply convoys, bribe enemy officers, lure the enemy out of formation, sneak on enemy encampments and steal their supplies, poison their water, assassinate enemies while they sleep. Some call this fighting dirty, we call it winning. Don't mistake us for cravens though. We'll meet enemy forces on the battlefield with fierceness, bloodthirst and discipline. We would rather not though. If situation demands we'll retreat to fight another day. We're outcasts, pariahs, rejects of the world. We have nothing left but ourselves. The brotherhood is early implemented on the recruits. We're not wicked, we don't love violence and we don't gorge on innocent's blood. Though killing is our job we do not take pleasure in it, those who do don't stay long among us. |
