Shaking his head again to clear the cobwebs, Bal'Nek opens himself to the energies of the stars, drawing in photons before lashing out at the enemy with his solar weapon.

Lining up the targeting display with the enemy, Bal'nek triggers the forward guns again.
Gunnery Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Sorry about that, in the future I'll label my rolls Gunnery Check not Ranged Attack since there is a difference.

FYI: I based my roll bonuses on this from the AoN SRD page:

Gunnery Check = 1d20 + the gunner’s base attack bonus or the gunner’s ranks in the Piloting skill + the gunner’s Dexterity modifier + bonuses from computer systems + bonuses from the captain and science officers + range penalty.

My piloting is untrained right now, so I used BAB + Dex, though the numbers would be the same right now.

I didn't include any of the bonus numbers after Dex mod since I wasn't aware if we had them.

(And I may have completely forgotten range and possible penalties. . .)

Bal'Nek ignores the discomfort of the improperly sized chair, and focuses on the forward guns fire control system.

As the gap closes, he targets the whale ship, and flipping open the safety cover on the firing switch, he waits for the target reticle to line up and fires the forward guns.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

Bal'nek moves for the ship, while not outright running, his jogging pace easily passes the slower pilot.

Once in the ship, he settles into his seat and begins to power up the forward guns.

There's a ton of stuff going around this year, and that's even without the one everyone is talking about.

Even the flu this season has been hitting hard.

He cocks his head slightly.
Or is this a human cultural thing; proving your bravery by walking around unarmed. As if to say to the universe, "I do not fear!"? "

Shifting uncomfortably in the tiny chair, Bal'nak feels pilot's gaze lingering on him. Noting the fading smile, he does his best to ignore the being's reaction.

Hmm. Not a fan of me it seems. But such is the cycle of the universe friend, the stars lead us on our path whether we like it or not.

He exhales slowly, trying in vain to position himself so this damned chair would stop making such a valiant effort to poke holes in his scales.

His feelings are his troubles. I should ignore it. If it becomes a problem I can deal with it then. Right now this chair is the bigger threat.

I've got a positive Cha mod, but not sure, he'd be a good captain role model.

Probably gunner for me, I think it's the one roll I don't have a penalty in.

I was thinking a Vesk world, but am flexible.
From my reading, the Vesk have sort of Klingon (maybe closer to Romulan given the lawful tendencies) or Trandoshian vibe culture wise, so it would make sense for someone seeking to prove themselves would go for the bigger playing field.
If it helps with the setup I'm happy to have the character be from wherever you would prefer.

I'll be honest it's likely not my best work as I'm not really familiar with the system, but I think I covered the important parts.

GM please feel free to review and let me know of any issues.

Also, for some reason I get an error page when I try to add a profile avatar, I hope it won't be a long term issue, but if so I'll think of a work around.
