There are two reasons for that rule that I can see:

1. You can get into a lot more trouble split up that you may not be able to handle; IE the thief goes off an get's himself killed.

2. This is a group game and splitting up losses that, especially in face to face games. I know it's less so in a PBP but it still lessens the sense of group.

Rule Number 1 of adventuring: NEVER split the party. That's in big bold letters.

I'm ok with you being in front of the party, but not more than a round or two away should you run into trouble. I'm assuming from this that we are all together now or are the rest of us still well behind the first two?

Ayedan sprints to the front of the group, "Let me take the lead and stay behind me. I can make it hard to see me and look for dangerous things."

Ayedan cautiously looks around, trying to keep to the shadows and speaks up, "Has anyone seen signs of people? It looks like we crashed into someones expensive home and they are not going to be happy!"

Ayeden has the best view of the mess about to happen sitting up in the crows nest. He watches the ships as the both descend through the clouds and down toward the ground. Seconds before his ship hits the ground, he leaps from the crow's nest in a swan dive but doesn't fall like he should. He floats down like a feather, saying this way and that. He immediately starts to pick through the rubble looking for survivors.

Upon hearing the voice, he works his way in it's direction and calls back "Ayedan here! I'll work my way towards you."

I should be all ready to go. I went with Unchained rogue. If that is a problem please let me know and I'll make a few changes.

I was hoping to be good people. Pirates will work but it's an evil empire we're fighting, if that's ok. In which case just call me Han :)

Ayden stands just under 6 feet tall. He has long flowing bluish silver hair. He is typically dressed in his gear wearing sturdy black pants and a grey tunic underneath. Looking at him it's hard to see where the air stops and his skin starts.

This isn't going to be good for the ship. I should climb up to the crow's nest and jump out as the ship crashes. Hopefully there will be survivors for me to help.

Ayedan suddenly comes into an on-guard position and laughs. "It's just a mirror. I nearly peed my pants there for a moment." Ayedan lets out a long sigh.

"I guess I should get to it."

He then moves into the room and begins looking for traps.

This is getting monotonous. That mirror will teach me to stay on my toes though.

Ayedan sits after his marathon of trap removal. He takes a long pull from one of his water skins.

"Ok, I was joking about earning my keep but good graces I think I just did. I hope every room isn't like this or we'll never get done in time. I think in the next room when I look for traps I see if we can just go around them, or only disable the ones that will form a clear path. Everyone ready to move on?"

After helping to get the door open Ayedan steps forward and says, "I...I guess it's time for me to earn my keep. I'll go first and look for any traps. I'm going to take my time unless you are in a hurry.

I took that to mean I stopped at the bottom of the rope and I was the only one climbing down so they can pull it up and tie more onto it.

Ayedan pounds in the new piton and ties the rope to it and starts his downward climb, taking it slowy, quietly, and looking for any traps on the way down.

"Here goes nothing. Nice knowing you."

Ayedan picks up the old crow bar and hands it to Askaya and then uses his to aid Askaya in moving the wheel.

Str check Aid: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Once the wheel is moved, Ayedan says Hold on a moment. I don't want this to close behind us. He takes a few minutes to make sure the door doesn't shut by using the old crow bar and some rocks.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 I'm assuming I can't take 20 on this.

Ayedan moves into the tomb looking carefully for traps.

Would everyone please update the map when you move. At least to me currently some of the positions are unclear. I need to try and set up a flank next time and I need to see who's where to do so.

Ayedan fires at the scorpion to the rear (AG7) hoping to get it before it realizes he is there.

Ayedan drops the bag he has, snaps his fingers and points in the direction of the top right of the tomb. He pulls out his bow and tries to find someplace to hide, if possible.

I have two sacks we can use to help move the dirt. We can make a pile out of the way and then have a clear way in. Make sure not to try to open the doors until I can check them for any traps.

Ayedan then pulls out the sacks to help with moving the sand and gives one to Satati.

Ayedan stands with a frown on his face. Something recently knocked this down and went into the graveyard toward the back wall. I'm curious but that is not our job today. The tomb is. Do we check it out or go into the tomb? Ayedan has his bow out and ready as there is a lot of open space in this area.

As Ayedan walks through the gate, you see a whirlwind of dust starts surrounding him, as you've seen in the past whenever Ayedan is expecting trouble. I agree, the northern route is best.
