Anthony chuckles darkly "I don't think "see" is the right word...." adya leans on Antony. "It might be a pain, but it does offer some intersting oppertunities, in truth. I mean, just how strong are you, now? You've got quite a vicious set of weapons. Once we talk to the guard and convice them it's you..."Adya hugs Antony's neck again. "And we will, don't worry- you'll be wonderful at being able to tear things up."
Anthony relaxes into her grasp, strength draining from his frame as he mumbles ** spoiler omitted ** "We press on. Not really much a choice. Besides, now I guess you get to see what my heratige was like, hunh?"
The "dragon thing" just sort of collapses down onto his belly, his forehead pressed against the ground Adya wastes no time wrapping her arms around his neck. A whole bunch of things she wants so badly to say, but even she has enough common sense not to. So she just sits there with him in silence.
once the Mage has a tiny follow, they move to a rsther dark room, and the Mage pose around at the magic Antony seems to have. There's quite a long silence, and Adya seems to fidget near Antony, leaning on him a bit.
Adya is naturally the one who notices, and leads Antony along after the Mage.
"Ah, well my name is Anthony, I'm a guardsman under captain Adya" "... The city of elrith, to make that clear."
Anthony carefully walks forward, trying not to step on anyone Adya keeps a hand under his snout. "Just keep pace with me."
Adya tugs on Antony.
"Well, I mean, we can take some, but I don't thing any of us are equipped to pack up much of that gold. Let's just go, Antony, we can come back for this money later."
Adya nods.
"alright, well, I'm sure we can lead you."
"You can't see?" Adya looks at his eyes, little more then scars."... I should've known that."
adya just watches dreger, rather confused.
"... What? Uh. Where's he? Uh."
"Kobolds are always welcome among the militia! Although it might be a bit confusing to see..." Dredger awkwardly gestures at Antony "... That." Adya narrows her eyes. ".... Maybe not, then."
"Of course!" "Hmm. Well, maybe we can help each other. We may be in need of a place to stay for a while, while I find a way to get the town to understand."
"Well, Worshipping dragons isn't the most acceptable thing for most people." Adya shifts a bit, thinking for quite a while. "... You say there's an entire clan like that?"
Dredger offers his only hand. "Trawl Dredger, as I already said, Ma'am. Proud member of the redscales militia." Adya offers one of hers in turn. "Never heard of it."
He simply shrugs. "No." "Alright, well. Shall we introduce ourselves at all? I'm Adya. Guard capitan of elrith. Quite possibly the last nuteral town left."
"... That would be nice, yes. Have any ideas?"
Dredger puts his arms behind himself and takes a deep breath. "... Okay, I can understand that. Just, let me unwind a little. I finally thought I had a lead, and you went ahead and killed it." After a few moments of discreet cursing and head shaking, Dredger locks his back straight again, standing tall. "... Well, you're not exactly without one." she smiles. Itms a vicious, predatory thing, a mouth full of sharp teeth."You seem to want to research dragons, yes?"
"... Excuse me? You... Killed the dragon?" Dredger is standing there stiffly, with the light of straining leather from his glove as he clenches a shaking fist. "It was inflicting horrid deseases on the townsfolk. It wasn't exactly peaceful." her hand moves to her sword's hilt, and she pulls it out, before sheathing it.
Adya looks to trawl, then pauses, then looks to Antony.
"... I think He thinks you're a dragon. Maybe. Not sure. He wouldn't exactly be wrong."
adya snarls slightly at the newcomer, but doesn't move of yet.
Anthoony is startled by this admission and it's then that he really has time to process "That's not true, if anything I need you now more than ever... I'm mostly blind.... and a dragon.... I'm naked... and I've lost my connection to the divine... what do we do?" "That's not the point, though! Even when you were like this, you still had to come to my aid, instead of me helping you right away. It's not right. As for what we do? I'm already getting some ideas."
after quite a long while, adya eventually mostly regains her compousure. "i'ff pathetic. Ahfter all thif time... Evhen now." she sniffles a bit more. "you're still the one who hash to help me."
Anthony gasps as the blade strikes him and he lays down and bares his neck to her "do as you must. May the morning lord have mercy on us both" "You.. You..." Adya thrusts the sword down, and stabs it directly into the ground next to Antony, before collapsing unto Antony's neck, wrapping her arms around it and crying.
Anthony winces in pain "none of this makes any damned sense!" "I don't buy it. Not for a second." "His armor is in tatters, and his sword is discarded on the ground. I won't suffer being lied to." she's starting to tear up. "I donno how you stole my Devine powers from me, but I won't let that stop me! You... You'll..." she's visibly shaking, and she raises her katana again to strike downward at Antony's head. "You..."
Anthony backs up "Adya? what are you doing?... this... this isn't what it looks like...It's me, Anthony" Adya charges at Antony, eyes burning with fury. "b#&!$$+&! that doesn't even make sense." the holy energy from the sword burns in Antony's flesh. There's a distant sound of thunder, and a familiar sound of glass shattering. Adya's Devine powers fall away, glow fading from her sword entierly. "... W-what?"
Adya twitches. Thst sounded like it was still alive. She runs into the main chamber of the cave, and looks around. Failing to find any trace of Antony, but seeing his sword, she howls in rage, tightening her grip on her weapon. Her footsteps on the gold echo through the room.
not long after, Adya arrives at the entrance to the cave. She starts up a torch, and walks into the start of the cave slowly. Expecting the job to already be done.
"Y-yeah. Get going."
He takes the map and studies it for a bit before nodding "I'll be right out as soon as I grab some provisions" "Hurry along. This might be something important."
"That is one of the protections my god has graced upon me, yes. How far away is it?" Adya offers a map. "Here. Twelve hours away. By horseback."
"I had to ask, unfortusntly. It causes desease thst kills in minutes, according to the same report. And last I checked, you said you were immune."
Anthony blinks in surprise before nodding, resolute "probably a drake, if we're lucky maybe just a wyvran" "I've been told it's the size of a house, stands on all four legs, and it's very breath is toxic."
meanwhile, Adya and Antony were talking about a less public assignment.
Adya looks at Ellen and ruby expectantly. An impatient look.
"We'd better get to it then, I doubt the proteans will wait." "You're right. You, ellen, and la'vassa better get going."
Ruby nods and stands up. "Sounds good to me. Are you sure he'll be able to handle himself if things get bloody?" "Of current? I think he can handle himself better then any of us. But getting him out of his library, that won't be easy."
"Any better ideas, anyone? Becuase thst one doesn't sound bad."
"Well, if none of you can lead, then perhaps look around town for somone you know who is cool headed and smart. I'm sure somone you've made firends will will help. Conner, we'll talk about it in a bit."
"You can all hammer out the details. Antony, I've got something special for you to do, so you won't be going."
"... Trying to sneak around them might be for the best. Or maybe listening to conversations and gleaning information that way. Or kill them all and take the notes. It's all up to your discretion. Everyone has thier own way of getting the job done."
"Please avoid collapsing anything unless it's abosultly needed."
"The scouts I used are not terribly well trained for combat."
"You're all capable people. If they pose an immidate threat, then they need to be eleimated. If not, information about what's going on is vital."
"So, I've gathered you all here because there is something of grave importance going on. We've confirmed that proteans have settled in a cave nearby. This could be useful, but we have to act now, if we want to get information. Proteans aren't known to stay in one place long."
