Rissa looks at the Jedi, making her Boss-I-hope-you're-not-about-to-do-something-REALLY-stupid face. "Better plan is for us to light it up and you take it down when it charges us, Boss." Something pings on her rifle. "Ugh. Stupid recoil decompressors. Hold one." She fiddles for a moment with the gun, muttering under her breath as she does so. "OK. Good to go."

Using my Personalised Modifications talent: standard action to gain +1 to hit and +2 to damage for the rest of the encounter.

That moment when you roll a Natural 20 and then log back in to find the DM saying "My bad! Doesn't count!" >_<

Fort: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (20) + 23 = 43

Fort: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (9) + 23 = 32

Fort: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (5) + 23 = 28

Reflex: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (19) + 25 = 44

Rissa smiles. "Rather your robes than you! You'll live, Boss, hopefully we all will." She frowns as something flickers on the visor by her right eye. "Wait - I got something, Boss: no connection to the HoloNet, but there is a weak signal of some kind out there. It's at a good distance, seriously well encrypted, and I barely even noticed it. Someone does not want it found, so I say we go find it!"

Rissa nods. "Best if the explosion looks like the ship blew up by itself, so they think we're all dead. Boss, Imma need your Jedi cloak - they find it here, they assume nobody made it out." She scowls at him. "Don't argue - you can get another one. Besides, you don't want to look like a Jedi here; we're behind enemy lines."

With that, she scurries off to find a way to make the ship explode naturally. The oxygen tanks are her first thought - if it looks like one of them broke apart in the crash, the force would be enough to destroy the crew compartment and mangle the ship completely.

Mechanics: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29

Trying to make the ship look like it blew up on landing, so there's no reason to look for survivors.

Rissa nods. "Already on it, boss."

Use Computer: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 20 = 32

The numbers continue their flow across her visor. If there's a signal out there, she'll find it.

If possible, she's going to try and hide where the access is coming from, i.e. by routing the signal across multiple sites to make it harder to trace.

I know, I know: different galaxy, different timeline, different cultures. But it was too good to pass up.

"I have chosen to fight with the Republic in hopes of freeing my droid brothers from their slavery. As great as my hardware and software are, I am still only one droid and thus I cannot do it on my own, as much as it makes my systems glitch to admit."

Rissa gives the droid a pitying look. "Boy, whoever did your programming really did a number on you, didn't they? I always thought the sudo --aptget *MosesComplex* import command was a joke; and it turns out I was right!" She smirks. "Go on - say: 'let my people go'..."

Turning back to the main computer, she calls out: "Bad news, Boss: the ship's dead. Computer is gone, and even I can't fix this ship in a hurry. Good thing I've got my bracer computer - I'll see if it can patch into any of the local networks."

She does not sound optimistic. Between the snow and their isolation, chances of a strong enough signal are minimal.

Hey, it's not Star Wars without a bit of mistrust and antagonism to work through! :)

Good call on your positioning, though...

"It's right, you know, Boss," Rissa chimes in. "That droid was there from takeoff..." she trails off.

"Boss, I don't much like this thought, but what if... what if D3-K0 isn't what it seems? I mean, it's all programming, so what if it believes it's now fighting for us, but there's a subliminal program somewhere inside it that got activated when it went on a mission against the separatists?"

She looks speculatively at the combat droid. "If we open it up, I can do a run-through of its programs, see if there's anything there that shouldn't be."

Rhal - what's the DC to reprogram a droid to believe we're made of 70% kibble? Just curious ;)

Rissa's muffled curses sound like she regrets returning to consciousness. "Alive, Boss, and severely ticked-off." Her alien eyes easily penetrate the gloom inside the ship as she looks around. "Including you and me, Boss, I count two others still moving. The rest are various states of dead - Boss, this goes beyond 'snafu' and well into 'fubar'..."

Still grumbling, she disconnects herself from the tangle of safety harnesses that have kept her alive til now and heads up to the cockpit to try and get some info from the ship's navicomp. Her heavily-modified computer interface visor flickers with data, the numbers and digits flowing past her gaze almost too fast to make sense.

Use Computer: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25

She frowns. "I have a bad feeling about this, Boss."

Female Twi'lek Scoundrel 8 | Image | | HP 76/76 | Ref 25 Fort 23 Will 19 | Init +13 | Perception (UtF) +12, Low-light vision | UtF +12, 6/6 Force Points

Rissa gives the Jedi a look. "Not sure it's your heart - or mine - that you're talking about here, Boss."

Saluting, she takes her leave to make ready for departure.

Rissa give a slight chuckle. "It's kinda hard to feel insulted by something that could just as easily be reprogrammed to believe we're 70 percent milk - or 70 percent vacuum, or kibbles, or whatever. I mean, you fought for the Separatists, and now your programming is telling you to fight for the Republic, so, you know..." She shrugs. "You're just insulting us 'cause your programming tells you to."

...

She nods at Vorian. "Got it, boss, no extra showers for you." Her lekku twitch slightly with impatience as Vorian reopens a subject she thought they'd closed. "Nice thought, really. And I am trying the exercises Matesh and you gave me...but I just get bored, you know? Sitting on the floor going 'um' isn't really my thing."

She pauses. "I'm sorry. And about your friends. I know how many you've lost, and I do keep you in mind - and Matesh, too."

Giving up on finding a suitable avatar, so I've done what you guys have and put an image in the header.

Rissa looks archly at the droid, her eyebrows raised (Twi'lek don't naturally have eyebrows; hers were tattooed on at the behest of a long-forgotten "patron"). "Kinda cocky for something that's basically a restraining bolt away from being furniture, aren'tcha?"

She doesn't put a hand to the tool-kit that hangs prominently from her utility belt. It would be too unsubtle.

The Twi'lek grins as Vorian reminds her of the Bonadan 'snag' and is about to protest that it was more fun than doing it the other way; but turns serious as he is assigned command. There's a time when you don't mess around. That time is now. "Understood."

She lingers behind after the others have gone, waiting to hear what the Jedi has to say.

Rissa was more interested on the journey into the Solidarity than their arrival onboard, as she spent the whole time on the shuttle eagerly looking at the repair crews scrambling all over the outside of the Venator-class ship. She's never had the opportunity to do space-side repairs, much less on a war vessel of that size, and she finds the process fascinating.

The docking of the shuttle into the ship is really much less interesting, and she zones out slightly during the briefing, assuming that Vorian will tell her all about it later. He's reliable like that. Until-

"Wait. Ion cannon?! I get to play with an ion cannon?!" Her grin is like all her birthdays come at once.

The dusk-skinned Twi'lek frowns as Vorian begins his patient, cautious questions about defences and so on. "Who cares about all of that - seriously, anything that gets between me that ion cannon is going to have a really bad day..."

She starts to bounce impatiently on the balls of her feet. "When do we leave? Can we leave right now? Can we?"

I'm afraid Teen Titans rather passed me by, but I'm happy to take your word for it if that's a good thing :-)

Vorian - good question, I was leaving it to the GM to decide what role (if any) Matesh plays in the larger scheme of things. As for attitude to the Jedi, Rissa is hugely favourable - she was rescued by one, after all. She values the Republic because she values the Jedi, and works for the Republic because the Jedi do. She might wish they were a bit more proactive, though.

D3-KO - I agree that your backstory probably doesn't tie in with Rissa's, but she likes droids (she's more comfortable around them than around people) so if you can cope with lots of technical questions about your heuristics and so on, should get on fine :)

EW/Vorian: agree completely on avatars!

Backstory should be linked, I think - seems likely that the Republic would want to use a group that's worked together before.

Rissa is a mechanic/slicer and no slouch with a rifle. She's not a clone, obviously, so probably wasn't at Geonosis on the front lines; but when Republic SpecOps needs something done on the quiet, she's there.

She probably appreciates the fact that Vorian is a bit more pro-active than most Jedi, and may have asked for some guidance on her latent Force talents. Vorian might even know Matesh, the human Jedi who rescued Rissa from slavery.

Likewise, great to be selected! Thanks DM; although you might be crazy, you're MY kinda crazy ;)

Avatar subject to change, btw.
