BGG user Voytaz7 created a Polish version of the guide; Runelords now has translations for German, Polish, and Japanese. Voytaz told me he has plans to translate the other guides as well. As always, you can find all the Adventure Guides in the Community Use Registry.
This is the easiest way to find officially sanctioned artwork, including artist attributions: http://www.pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Category:Artwork_by_artist Trust me, I've looked at *every* blog post on Paizo.com using the Older entries link while working on the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Guide, and PathfinderWiki's artist page is much easier. The only quibble I've found is that on very rare occasions the wiki includes images that only appeared on the Pathfinder Society page (which doesn't have blog in the URL path) and they're marked "Community Use", but this is only an outlier for a few images out of the thousands they link too. My suggestion for avoiding any potential CUP problem is to check out the attribution link to the original Paizo.com web page and only download the image from Paizo.com if the link complies with the policy (eg. a blog post or an official product cover from the list).
Did you know there are fan-made story guides that serve as a companion for the card game? They flesh out what's happening on all the scenario cards as you play along. You can find them in the Community Use Registry here on Paizo.com; the files are hosted on BoardgameGeek. There are text-only versions and versions with artwork for each set in the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. I've been busy improving prior editions of the guides because I've seen translations pop up online as PACG is made available in other languages. I reformatted Skull & Shackles and Rise of the Runelords so the presentation matches later editions of the Adventure Guides. Deck 6 of Skull & Shackles got a significant artwork update. Rise of the Runelords looks better than ever because I snagged almost every piece of Community Use artwork available for Runelords and put it in the guide. I'll look into reworking Wrath of the Righteous at a later date since some aspects like the cohort banishment section didn't work out as well as I would have liked. It was still a good project for something I did in the equivalent of 3 weeks worth of "crunch time".
Recent CUP artwork releases allowed me to improve the presentation of Adventure Deck 6. You can find links to the guide here on Paizo.com in the Community Use Registry.
Now that there are DriveThruCards for Season of the Shackles, Season of the Righteous, Season of the Runelords, and Season of the Goblins; would it be possible to get versions of the PDF files minus the Organized Play Score sheets and replicas of the playing cards? Sure, I could use a PDF Editor to remove those pages myself; but that doesn't mean it's allowed under the EULA. It is a *HUGE* pain to go to a print shop to get the organized play scenarios printed and nicely bound with instructions like this: "Print everything but the last page for the first two files, then print everything but the last 2 pages for the third and fourth files, skip the last page for the fifth file, and then ignore the last 3 pages of the sixth file...." I don't want to print these files myself because it doesn't make sense to kill my expensive ink cartridges when color copies are inexpensive relatively speaking.
Byron Campbell (RotR, S&S) has returned to resume writing duties for the Mummy's Mask Adventure Guide. There's an entry up in the Community Use Registry and you can download a draft version of the guide from BoardgameGeek.com. The base set is complete with Adventure Path B and Adventure Deck 1 having full write-ups. This release takes a different approach from previous guides with journal entries for significant cards that are supposed to be read when they're encountered or defeated. Other journal entries provide background information on important people and locations in Osirion.
I've had some difficulty researching the back stories online for some of the new Mummy's Mask heroes. I maintain a Community Use document with the backstories for the heroes featured in the PACG base sets and character decks, and right now it's incomplete for Mummy's Mask. There's a segment of PACG players who only play the card game (myself included), so I try to pick up the slack for the things that are missing from the card game - lore on the Blessing deities, story guides, and the backstories of the heroes.
This sale advertisement is much better than previous sales since it says "select PDFs" as opposed to "all PDFs". However, since I've spotted mistakes in the past with offers that were intended to be on sale and weren't, are these a mistake? It seems odd because only some of the Adventure Path PDFs are on sale. Wrath of the Righteous is especially troubling because only one PDF is on sale, which doesn't seem like much of an inducement to buy the whole series. Here are the PDFs I spotted that aren't on sale: PACG Card Guild Adventure #0-6 Hurricane Weather PDF
I'm assuming the RotR Card Guild Adventures aren't supposed to be on sale since it's the latest set, but it might be a good idea since one of the design goals was to draw in people who dropped out of PACG after the first box set was complete.
I saw an earlier post I made about images got moved here, so I'll make a request here too. The Community Use package for religious symbols doesn't feature any images for the Empyreal Lords or any of the Egyptian Deities (Anubis, Set, Osiris, and the like) for the upcoming PACG Mummy's Mask. I created a guide that explains a little bit about each deity featured in the PACG Blessing deck. It seemed like a nice way to provide some lore for boardgamers who aren't familiar with the RPG, and it helps explain some of the effects on the Blessings themselves.
I posted two more artist credit errors here. Does this make a difference in somebody getting paid? I recall seeing errors in RotR and S&S too, but I ignored them at the time in favor of getting my fan project done. I'll go back and do the work if it makes a difference in somebody's livelihood. There was a blog post about the Shadow Demon's name changing. The same thing happened to Areelu Vorlesh's quasit familiar, but I think PACG got it right because gimcrack is a real word.
Elder Fire Demon is credited to Ben Wooten on the card but the original blog post credits Craig J. Spearing. Tarry Fiend is credited to Tyler Walpole on the card but the original blog post credits Johan Grenier. So which source is right?
Why does the PACG rulebook list this for the credits? Based on Wrath of the Righteous By Matthew Goodall, Tim Hitchcock, Jason Nelson, Richard Pett, Neil Spicer, and Greg A. Vaughan If the covers of the modules themselves are accurate Amber E. Scott, James Jacobs, Jim Groves, and Wolfgang Bauer are missing, while Matthew Goodall, Tim Hitchcock, and Jason Nelson are getting credited in their place. Is there some other determination being used to attribute credit I'm unaware of? I haven't crawled through the title pages to determine who wrote what sections of the modules yet.
I was looking over some official Pathfinder materials and discovered that the Chelish citizens of Cheliax are called "Chelaxians" and not "Cheliaxians" as I've been spelling it all along. Did they bargain away the 'i' in some infernal contract? Is the other usage still correct (contry name with the 'i' and ending in 'ian')?
This question has come up on Boardgame Geek, and it becomes more relevant in light of the new Cardmaker webapp on DriveThru RPG. The Community Use Policy's wording on image cropping only mentions product images; so some users (not me) have interpreted the wording to mean that blog images don't have this restriction, and can be cropped - it's particularly useful to do so when creating Pathfinder Adventure Card Game cards, because without cropping, the image on the card is tiny and doesn't resemble the rest of the cards in the retail game (possibly violating the requirement to present Paizo's products in a favorable light). Any thoughts one way or the other on this issue?
http://www.reapermini.com/InspirationGallery/Autoduelist/latest/ I hope you like them. I was inspired by some of the work on display at Reaper Miniatures, and I'm glad I could contribute something back. I thought about adding a silver shirt to Zarskia to match her illustration, but it seemed a waste with such a pretty miniature.
I saw a user post on Board Game Geek that stated the base game without the Add-on Character Deck was short two ships for this scenario. Regrettably, I can't find the thread today, but I'm reporting the issue because I've seen other FAQ questions with instructions for "substitute X for Y" cards before.
The Approved Product Page might be reflecting current Paizo stock levels. For example, the Kingmaker Adventure Path is missing AP 4 and AP 6 (#34 and #36). Per the Community Use Policy, those products aren't part of the Approved Product Page, so their covers couldn't be displayed any more under the Community Use Policy. Is it Paizo's intention that the missing product illustrations can no longer be displayed?
Some of the Community Use image files have text imbedded in them which doesn't scale well, for example, the Thassilon Runes document by Jeff Carlisle identifies individual runes by name and type. The text appears blurry, and zooming in or out doesn't fix the problem. Is it alright to use a font of the same/similar style in the same positions and relative porportions to replace the words in the image so it will display more clearly on tablets and printed documents?
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Rise of the Runelords Prologues & Epilogues Written by Byron "Kittenhoarder" Campbell with file layout by Neil "Autoduelist" Edmonds, these stories should be read in lieu of the Adventure Path and Scenario cards. Read the prologue before each scenario and the corresponding epilogue when you successfully complete the scenario; doing so provides an epic tale as you proceed through the game. [I was very pleased to assist Byron on this excellent project. Several of my friends enjoy paragraph games like "Tales of the Arabian Nights" and Deckbuilders like "Dominion", so this fan project makes the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game much more appealing to them.]
The Paizo blog, web serials, and product pictures are a terrific art resource under the Community Use Agreement. I notice, however, there aren't any pictures for Rise of the Runelords' Stone Giants outside of a virgin cover painting for one of the comic books under Section 2 Products. I can't find anything for the Graul Ogres either. Is there any chance this could be remedied? |
