Female Half Elf Arcanist 3
Issue goes a little deeper than that, but in principal, thats the basic issue. Its currently a bit of a crawl through this building, so we ideally want to save my AoE spells to better level the fight against something really tough, since I don't have # of casts to use magic in every fight. The tricky thing is that I forgot to select Acid Splash as my cantrip today, and Ashnah doesn't have a crossbow (etc) since she started out as a clothing designer and therefore needed to have one up until now. She will make adjustments as soon as she can but for this particular combat, its a bit of a grind.

Kinda agree with the base plan here but also with Heinrick's points. Not clearing every room risks a flank which, at our current level, is probably significantly worrying. I would prefer that IF we skip rooms, that we at least clear an escape route (ie clearing rooms in a T fashion) to minimize being flanked. That said, even though I think clearing every room is risky as hell and a drain of resources, not clearing them, and waiting until later, risks losing xp if (say) they all fled after we destroy the stone. I kinda want to avoid a situation where we "win" by breaking the stone but then "lose" but being underleveled in future. Still, if we level up based on when the AP expects us to, then I dont really mind how we clear rooms. Also, while I agree with the formation Lavina mentioned, I'd prefer that we space ourselves out if we do so. Bottlenecking is really good, but I want to avoid us getting AOE'd in a corridor. Also I'm ready to push on into Garrison if everyone else is ready + willing.

I'm in it for the long haul as well, so IDM. I'm a little worried about the garrison though. Not only does it make things hard if its a straight crawl, but I'm a little concerned about resource management. I don't have second level spells yet and I only have three 1st level spell uses today before I need to rest and regain my spells. I'm a little worried about the strength as to what is inside if we just faced the door guards just now.

"You can use Cold Iron ones I think" Ashnah offers to Lavinia. Ashnah waits until everyone has settled on a suitable ambush point, before deliberately ripping part of her clothing, grimacing as she did so. She wasn't at all happy about doing so, but it would probably raise a little bit of suspicion if she was wandering a chaotic city in an untouched outfit. Ready, she takes hesitant steps, trying to look as anxious as possible, as she eventually notices the two men. She doesn't know how fast such creatures move, but decides on a safe distance, mentally plotting how quickly she could run, with how far away the ambush was. "Oh Lord Hulrun, you wouldn't happen to know the way to the Garrison would you...I...I don't think I'm in the best shape, and I'm a little lost?" she gushes slightly, attempting to force relief on her face, as she moves one leg awkwardly, trying to give the impression her mobility was slightly restricted. So, I'll probably shriek and back off when they get closer, and I assume they chase. If they are faster, I can probably run and then turn when they are within 15 feet and drop Color Spray. If I'm faster, I might adjust my movement speed so that I can still turn and fire when the ambush is close.

Ashnah frowns at Heinrick, looking him up and down critically.
Ashnah lets the sentance hang for a moment, before continuing onwards. "I think its best if I go and lure them forward. I look like a citizen, a fashion designer, heck, I am a fashion designer. An unarmed female on her own is a much better target. I'm not particularly skilled at running, but I can lure them into an ambush, and then turn around and slam them with my magic." Unless anyone objects, happy to offer myself as a lure. I can drag them back into an ambush and when they are within 15 feet, I can turn around and Color Spray them as we spring an ambush, without having to worry about hitting allies (since I'd be in front). Up to everyone else though.

"I'm Ashnah", the slender half elf remarks softly, appraising the newcomers with interest, lingering lightly on the arrows strapped to the back of one, and the thick armor plate of the other. "It will be interesting, all of us working together during this trying time, but we all seem...very capable I would think, to handle anything that attempts to cross our path."

For future reference Allen, Darkness ( spell level 2) beats any light spell equal to or lower than its level, so it trumps my ( spell level 0) light cantrip. Dispelling it, would (probably), require Dispel Magic ( spelllevel 3). It means that probably, I'll need to be character level 6 before I can really counter Darkness shenanigans. Thank god Iolana found it, GM does this mean I can see? Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Aghhh, somehow this dropped from my campaign listing. "Yes, well observed", Ashnah acidly responds to Allen's words, not really understanding what he was referring to and interpreting his statement as one of simply stating the obvious. Not really one for charging head first into the fray, she hangs back behind everyone.

Just be aware guys, that while I'd like to contribute to pushing this forward, Ashnah is a recent addition - so she doesn't know the locations that we might be searching. Just tell me more about the safehouses - or suggest one and I can post accordingly, assuming we are waiting on me.

Ashnah pockets the money before frowning slightly at the cleric rushing out and spending it. Truth be told, she didn't like making many purchases with any money she might have received. I assume we are waiting for Heinrick to make his purchases before we look into a new safehouse?I might need to regain my spells though. |
