Human Rogue Liberator 8/Divine Strategist Cleric of Besmara 8

I' m here, I'm here

Human Rogue Liberator 8/Divine Strategist Cleric of Besmara 8

Arthur will return to his underground apartment and work on a plan. He'll send out his men to gather information on the crime groups and look for weaknesses.

Arthur draws his cloak over his head as he walks towards Ashimar, letting the shadow cover his face. He runs his shoulder into Ashimar on his way out and lets out a laugh. "I s'pose you'll be hearing from me, Blackjack."

The visions danced around in his head. He tries his best to clear them, but they linger little longer.
"We cannot let this come to pass. If it is what you'd need from me, then it is done."

"If it is a necessity, then...so be it. If it will insure a better tomorrow... I," He catches his breath "I must do what is necessary"

Cannon stands pensive. Unsure what to make of all of this, he clears his throat before speaking up. At first he speaks to no one in particular.
"Korvosa is a festering lot. While I am proud to call her my home, my stead, I know that she needs cleansing. I cannot stand to see such a beautiful land waste away in corruption. Her people deserve more than this. If we must choose between lesser evils, then so be it. I must know though..."

He turns to the girl, stares her dead in the eyes and with a grave, weighted voice, asks "are we to bring direct harm to her people?"

He took her hand with my last post

Arthur concedes to the girl with a curt nod of his head.
"Ay, the Gods know that we've" he takes a pause to look back towards the two men in the room, then continues "got our own to keep." He takes her hand. "I cannot speak for us all, but I can give you my word if you swear to keep mine."

He stands stoic and pensive. He lets her words ring in his head for a moment before he replies to her.
Can this be some sort of deception?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (11) + 35 = 46
When he finally does, his voice is backed by authority.
"By what divine power are you brought to us?"
While I'm sure the sense motive check isn't necessary, it is what Arthur would do

Crouched down with his back against a wall, Arthur watches as two men enter the shop.
"The dojo owner... And that entertainer... Interesting..." A third man, draped in a brown cloak starts walking towards the music shop.
Cannon stands from his position and breaks into a brisk walk. As the third man reaches for the door handle, Arthur grabs him by the wrist. "No, Jorna, I will see to this."

He turns the door handle quietly and steps into the room.

Sorry for jumping in late. I've been without a computer for the last month or so. I'll be able to post once a day at least though, so it wont be a problem.

After grazing over the letter, the man known as Arthur Cannon places a stern hand on Lakelin's shoulder and speaks to him in a lax, low whisper, reminiscent of a storm. "Tss tss tss, Mr. Masters, calm yourself . Don't let your emotions get the best of you, dear friend. I will see to this...anomaly...personally. Have Jorna meet me at the Gilded Boar in an hour. Take the rest of the day off. Take care, friend."

With Lakelin on his way out, Arthur takes a long look over the letter, studying the script, being certain to memorize every word, every letter, every detail.
Whoever this Alika may be, they are beyond simple mortal. To know so much of me and I know nothing of them is... strange. Perhaps divine powers are at work here.

He crumples up the letter in his fist and a spark of flame quickly turns it to ashes.
"It's time to get to work"

Being a careful man, Cannon would've done the same as both Damiano and Ashimar: Research and Recon. If it is ok wit you all, could we assume Cannon came to the same conclusions?

An hour later, Cannon saunters into a bustling tavern known as The Gilded Boar disguised as a blue-eyed, middle-aged, balding man and immediately takes a seat at a booth. Shortly after, he is met by another man with a striking resemblance to both Cannon and Lakelin. As the man takes a seat, Cannon whispers "Hushhhh" Casts Silent Table
"'Evening, Mr. Sallo," Arthur nods.
"Good evening, Sir. Masters seemed rather on-edge when he called for me...is everything all right?" Jorna Sallo replies.
"We have a situation...it seems that I am being called on. I need you to go out tonight..take The Urchins a street-level gang of cutpurses with you. There's a music shop on Bridgefront by the name of Romani's. I am to meet with a proprietor there at dawn and I want you to keep a keen eye."
____________
Arthur awakens before dawn, and prepares himself for the day.

Items on Person:

Extend Rod
Elven Chain
Spring Loaded Wrist Sheath 1 (Right hand): Dagger
Spring Loaded Wrist Sheath 2 (Left hand): a pouch full of Marbles
Ring with an etching of the Jolly Roger, holy symbol of Besmara.

After prayer, he gathers his belongings and he casts Nondetection using his extend rod before he heads out the door towards Romani's.

Oh, no problem whatsoever! Magic items are at a minimum.

Woops, miscalculated. I don't know why I thought my caster level was 16 if I only had 8 levels in Cleric. I was planning on using extend metamagic rod for nondetection. So for 16 hours a day, Arthur Cannon is under nondetection. Enough for Alika to contact him, I'm sure.

-Yeah, looked like I was missing one ability point. I put it towards CHA
-I know. I didn't want to focus on that ability too much though.
-I used Rogue Talent: Ninja Trick: Unarmed Combat Training to get Improved Unarmed Strike.
-I removed Cosmopolitan and replaced it with Combat Reflexes. I must've completely overlooked that.
-I added World Traveler as a trait, picking the Knowledge (Local) option
-Whoops! Forgot to add the +1 for the Unhappy Childhood trait.

This may be obvious, but does Nondetection cover magic equipment from detect magic? Would it protect from See Invis? I was really worried about gearing up with a bunch of magical items but I plan on having Nondetection up 24/7. It would be a great relief if thats how it worked.

Aye, still around. Still looking for some advice on where to go with the build

Are we to include our mythic ranks right now, or are we doing that later?

After looking over my character, I feel like I'm going for a jack of all trades type thing that could probably benefit from a more concise build. Originally, I wanted to go for a savvy, almost detective type character who would be ready for a scrap at the drop of a hat (Snake Style feat tree, Improvised Weapon feat tree) who could cast spells when need be. When it comes to the getaway scene, he could drop a veil over his comrades to aid in escape (Trickery Domain). Can someone give it a look over and help me piece together just how this guy is going to work out mechanically with the rest of the group so that he's not stepping on any toes?

Here are the things I'd like to keep.
Liberator Rogue Archetype

Trickery Domain

Divine Strategist Cleric Archetype

Snake Style Feat Tree

There are some synergies I really liked but I could part with them.
Divine Strategists can always act in surprise rounds. Arthur is a very unassuming combatant, often using improvised weapons to catch people off guard. With the Underhanded Rogue Talent, he deals max Sneak Attack damage when he attacks in a surprise round. I don't know how viable that idea is, or if I should even be focusing on combat, but it's something I really liked initially.

Again, give it a look over if you can and let me know what could go and what should stay.

Arthur Cannon Char Sheet

Hey! Glad to see I made the cut despite not being finished. I'm back from vacation and I've got the day off to recuperate, so I'm gonna complete Arthur today.

It's been one hell of a week. I planned on finishing up the character today, my only day off before I leave for vacation, but there's been a death in the family. I'll try to get up as much as possible and at least finalize the character sheet and throw up a background at some point today.

Ah! Perhaps Arthur is acquainted with both then! Arthur could easily have done business with the two! Damiano for his skills and Vayne for his assets. Perhaps he's even contracted Damiano for an assignment while using Vayne's business to transport the stolen goods, none the wiser that the two were one in the same! Pardon my excitement but this is the sort of intrigue that I live for.

I will be going on a trip this weekend so I'm really pushing to finish Arthur before I leave but the chips aren't falling in my favor with work. I will try to get as much done by Friday as possible. A tiny bit of fine tuning and crunch will be done. Background is currently being worked on and then assets and contacts and I'll be done.

I know we as players wanted to go with low magic, but is the setting overall pretty standard with magic? As the cleric, am I expected to be well versed in religion? Flavor wise, Cannon was chosen to serve by his goddess, so religion and arcane knowledge aren't natural things to him. Though he is a competent caster, and divine strategist, he isn't quite well read in the realms of magic.

@ashimar another point for a hawk: communication. Could be used to signal back-up, or communicate danger to us. Maybe we've split up in a bustling area in search for a mark with you taking point high above us. city guards could be onto us with out us possibly knowing. The hawk could fly above us letting out a call to let us know. It'll require some planning and memorization but it could be helpful. Just a thought.

@gm I've been pondering on an appropriate backstory, I'll try to have it up soon before my week gets really busy.

So it seems that at least three of us plan on having a secret chamber of our own. Would there be any interest in shacking up?
Cannon dedicates his life to creating a network of skilled individuals and I feel that it wouldn't be too unbelievable that he would know all of you. This game would be almost a role reversal for him, because he's become so used to contacting people the same way Alika contacted him (and you). He collects jobs, things that need to be fixed in terms of injustice. Those that he feels he could help, he does. If at any point during the job he feels that help is needed, he calls on other skilled people to assist in some strange way.
For instance, he gets a job that involves breaking someone out of prison. Someone wrongly accused and headed to the chopping block. Arthur enters as a guard, finds the target and needs a way out. The prison is already short some guards due to a stomach bug going around (the guards loves going to a bakery nearby, and it just so happened that the new baker's apprentice has been infecting the guards). An alchemist contact owes Cannon a favor, so he creates a distraction outside when a fake merchant cart explodes across from the prison that distracts the rest of the guards while he and the target sneak out under a veil.
Now, that's a bit exaggerated, but the whole concept is that he's big on planning and involving others when needed. He would most definitely have a scry proof compound.

And I mean, at 5x the price, it'll be a bit cheaper to split it lol

I really like the idea of a chaotic good criminal tactician. There are plenty of good things that need to be done that govt officials won't get involved with, especially in Korvosa.
As for mythic, I'd probably go with marshal. The character really seems to work well when his allies are within 30 ft and I noticed marshal had plenty of options to keep that going.

I have a question on how you would rule something.
I know you want to focus on minimal combat, and even then, keep it to non-lethal.

Underhanded Rogue Talent:
Benefit: A rogue with this talent gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all Sleight of Hand checks made to conceal a weapon. Furthermore, if she makes a sneak attack during the surprise round using a concealed weapon that her opponent didn’t know about, she does not have to roll sneak attack damage, and the sneak attack deals maximum damage. A rogue can only use the underhanded talent a number of times per day equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 0).

Master Tactician ability:
A divine strategist can always act in a surprise round even if she fails to make a Perception check to notice enemies, though she is considered flat-footed until she acts. In addition, the divine strategist gains a bonus on initiative checks equal to 1/2 her cleric level. At 20th level, a divine strategist’s initiative roll is automatically a natural 20. Allies able to see and hear the divine strategist gain a bonus on initiative checks equal to 1/4 the divine strategist’s level. This is a language-dependent ability.
This ability replaces channel energy.

master tactician allows me to always act in a surprise round, while underhanded allows me to deal max sneak attack damage CHA/day granted that my weapon was concealed and unnoticed. Does that take unarmed combat off the table? I've heard arguments that you can't conceal your arms and legs so I wouldn't count but I've also heard arguments that unexpected hits would. Could an improvised weapon count if used unexpectedly?

I ended up changing my idea a bit and I suppose it now fulfills more of the tactician role. The character is now a Rogue Liberator 8/Divine Strategist Cleric of Besmara Trickery Domain 8 (what a mouthful)
Divine Strategist
Trickery Domain
Liberator

Still need to pick equipment and traits. As for "assets", I was thinking of a black market business, where Cannon "makes things happen". He is an organizer of sorts. He takes care of all the networking, hires all those to be involved, all you've got to do is tell him what needs to be done, pay him, and he'll take it from there. Are you a farmer whose crops disappear over night? Piece of cake. A lonely wife whose husband has gone "missing"? No problem. Is a new business stealing your customers? Simple. Tavern owner whose bar keeps getting wrecked by adventurers? Hah, easy.
How would I go about quantifying that with gold? Is there a system for a business like that?

Working on a back story. Right now, it loosely involves being raised by pirates, getting jailed and breaking out during his youth. As an adult, he fixes situations and "makes things happen".

Hope this is something you might be interested in.
