Human Rogue Liberator 8/Divine Strategist Cleric of Besmara 8
Cannon stands pensive. Unsure what to make of all of this, he clears his throat before speaking up. At first he speaks to no one in particular.
He turns to the girl, stares her dead in the eyes and with a grave, weighted voice, asks "are we to bring direct harm to her people?"

Arthur concedes to the girl with a curt nod of his head.

He stands stoic and pensive. He lets her words ring in his head for a moment before he replies to her.

Crouched down with his back against a wall, Arthur watches as two men enter the shop.
He turns the door handle quietly and steps into the room.

After grazing over the letter, the man known as Arthur Cannon places a stern hand on Lakelin's shoulder and speaks to him in a lax, low whisper, reminiscent of a storm. "Tss tss tss, Mr. Masters, calm yourself . Don't let your emotions get the best of you, dear friend. I will see to this...anomaly...personally. Have Jorna meet me at the Gilded Boar in an hour. Take the rest of the day off. Take care, friend." With Lakelin on his way out, Arthur takes a long look over the letter, studying the script, being certain to memorize every word, every letter, every detail.
He crumples up the letter in his fist and a spark of flame quickly turns it to ashes.
Being a careful man, Cannon would've done the same as both Damiano and Ashimar: Research and Recon. If it is ok wit you all, could we assume Cannon came to the same conclusions? An hour later, Cannon saunters into a bustling tavern known as The Gilded Boar disguised as a blue-eyed, middle-aged, balding man and immediately takes a seat at a booth. Shortly after, he is met by another man with a striking resemblance to both Cannon and Lakelin. As the man takes a seat, Cannon whispers "Hushhhh" Casts Silent Table

After prayer, he gathers his belongings and he casts Nondetection using his extend rod before he heads out the door towards Romani's.
-Yeah, looked like I was missing one ability point. I put it towards CHA
This may be obvious, but does Nondetection cover magic equipment from detect magic? Would it protect from See Invis? I was really worried about gearing up with a bunch of magical items but I plan on having Nondetection up 24/7. It would be a great relief if thats how it worked.
Are we to include our mythic ranks right now, or are we doing that later? After looking over my character, I feel like I'm going for a jack of all trades type thing that could probably benefit from a more concise build. Originally, I wanted to go for a savvy, almost detective type character who would be ready for a scrap at the drop of a hat (Snake Style feat tree, Improvised Weapon feat tree) who could cast spells when need be. When it comes to the getaway scene, he could drop a veil over his comrades to aid in escape (Trickery Domain). Can someone give it a look over and help me piece together just how this guy is going to work out mechanically with the rest of the group so that he's not stepping on any toes? Here are the things I'd like to keep.
Divine Strategist Cleric Archetype There are some synergies I really liked but I could part with them.
Again, give it a look over if you can and let me know what could go and what should stay.
Ah! Perhaps Arthur is acquainted with both then! Arthur could easily have done business with the two! Damiano for his skills and Vayne for his assets. Perhaps he's even contracted Damiano for an assignment while using Vayne's business to transport the stolen goods, none the wiser that the two were one in the same! Pardon my excitement but this is the sort of intrigue that I live for. I will be going on a trip this weekend so I'm really pushing to finish Arthur before I leave but the chips aren't falling in my favor with work. I will try to get as much done by Friday as possible. A tiny bit of fine tuning and crunch will be done. Background is currently being worked on and then assets and contacts and I'll be done. I know we as players wanted to go with low magic, but is the setting overall pretty standard with magic? As the cleric, am I expected to be well versed in religion? Flavor wise, Cannon was chosen to serve by his goddess, so religion and arcane knowledge aren't natural things to him. Though he is a competent caster, and divine strategist, he isn't quite well read in the realms of magic.
@ashimar another point for a hawk: communication. Could be used to signal back-up, or communicate danger to us. Maybe we've split up in a bustling area in search for a mark with you taking point high above us. city guards could be onto us with out us possibly knowing. The hawk could fly above us letting out a call to let us know. It'll require some planning and memorization but it could be helpful. Just a thought. @gm I've been pondering on an appropriate backstory, I'll try to have it up soon before my week gets really busy. So it seems that at least three of us plan on having a secret chamber of our own. Would there be any interest in shacking up?
And I mean, at 5x the price, it'll be a bit cheaper to split it lol
I really like the idea of a chaotic good criminal tactician. There are plenty of good things that need to be done that govt officials won't get involved with, especially in Korvosa.
I have a question on how you would rule something.
Underhanded Rogue Talent:
Benefit: A rogue with this talent gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all Sleight of Hand checks made to conceal a weapon. Furthermore, if she makes a sneak attack during the surprise round using a concealed weapon that her opponent didn’t know about, she does not have to roll sneak attack damage, and the sneak attack deals maximum damage. A rogue can only use the underhanded talent a number of times per day equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 0). Master Tactician ability:
A divine strategist can always act in a surprise round even if she fails to make a Perception check to notice enemies, though she is considered flat-footed until she acts. In addition, the divine strategist gains a bonus on initiative checks equal to 1/2 her cleric level. At 20th level, a divine strategist’s initiative roll is automatically a natural 20. Allies able to see and hear the divine strategist gain a bonus on initiative checks equal to 1/4 the divine strategist’s level. This is a language-dependent ability.
This ability replaces channel energy. master tactician allows me to always act in a surprise round, while underhanded allows me to deal max sneak attack damage CHA/day granted that my weapon was concealed and unnoticed. Does that take unarmed combat off the table? I've heard arguments that you can't conceal your arms and legs so I wouldn't count but I've also heard arguments that unexpected hits would. Could an improvised weapon count if used unexpectedly?
I ended up changing my idea a bit and I suppose it now fulfills more of the tactician role. The character is now a Rogue Liberator 8/Divine Strategist Cleric of Besmara Trickery Domain 8 (what a mouthful)
Still need to pick equipment and traits. As for "assets", I was thinking of a black market business, where Cannon "makes things happen". He is an organizer of sorts. He takes care of all the networking, hires all those to be involved, all you've got to do is tell him what needs to be done, pay him, and he'll take it from there. Are you a farmer whose crops disappear over night? Piece of cake. A lonely wife whose husband has gone "missing"? No problem. Is a new business stealing your customers? Simple. Tavern owner whose bar keeps getting wrecked by adventurers? Hah, easy.
Working on a back story. Right now, it loosely involves being raised by pirates, getting jailed and breaking out during his youth. As an adult, he fixes situations and "makes things happen". Hope this is something you might be interested in. |
