So I guess since we have figured it out, the real question would be the question of it's legality since I purchased it without the required fame? Say it was Keen. Would the court show mercy? In any case I was really shocked (lol) that there was not some sort "removal" fee using magic.... gads, with all the power held within the known world that this would just be toooo massive of a sitch. "Vorpal +5 long sword? No problem my good and faithful Pathfinder! Be ready for you tomorrow." What? REMOVE an enchantment?!?!?! Are you Dafted MAN!?!? That would rip the time space continuum... The rune lords themselves could never attempt such a feat!!! That is one of the ways scholars believe the World Wound was created!!!! Now go away and NEVER, EVER speak of this to anyone.
Oh... gads.... Now I suppose I'm going to just have to keep the dang thing as the sword is now creating it's own vortex, draining what little intelligence my fighter has; 7 (how ironic) and becoming sentient. Willing me to never remove it.... and with a 7 wisdom (again, how appropriate) no chance to make the save.... Chris, be careful... Bunny ears might be electrified.
HEY! Purple Fluffy CatBunnyGnome!!! No, it was not keen. And at this point this thread is becoming somewhat notorious... I think a few Five Stars VC's and a gang of VL's are now deviously planning some sort of atonement ritual.... Eeepps!!! LOL In any case I do want to say that this was my first con and it was outstanding!! Met some way cool folks, saw some fascinating builds, took part in some great tactics, and learned that just because a fighter can jump, does not mean a fighter SHOULD jump.
Please do keep in mind that I REALLY do want to not only abide by the rules, but also learn and maybe even IMPROVE the rules. Just today I learn how important it is to look at your fame point BEFORE making a purchase. This is a completely new concept for me and I will bet you dimes to dollars I've made this mistake on my first PFS character. With many of my scenarios giving only 1 fame, it can take awhile to get them points built up. A bit later I'm going to give my VC a call and get his ruling with some basic input from this thread.... or more likely have him take a look at it. If I have to "swallow" the mistake so be it. But it really sucks when you put a bit of your heart into making what you think is a good choice only to find out that not only did your completely FUBAR the purchase due to inadequate fame, you then picked a crappy effect - suffered through "bit" of humiliation at only being able to hit one thing twice all weekend and then having no real recourse to rectify the sitch......
After a bit of a "snafu" (see my thread in the PFS board) I'm looking for advice on building my fighters main weapon. Some base line info. This is for a PFS fighter that just popped 9th. He has 103 hit points with a brand on the inside of his bicep(Sihedeon Brand - endurance) that gives him 2x/level temporary hit points 1x/day. So vicious could be a potential option. He uses a bastard sword (one handed - took the exotic feat) with a shield. So your basic sword and board sort of fighter. I have the Improved Critical feat. Other than that just the basic feats for that weapon: Weapon Focus, Greater WF, Weapon Specialization, Vital Strike, & Power Attack. Right now it is an adamantine +1. So what would be the next best all-a-round enchantment option? Maybe some additional advice on selecting additional "situational" bastard swords. I figure a ghost touch enchanted sword would be necessary... or would that best be put on my main? Thanks in advance.
SAVED!!!!!!! Nebten, I was not at 27 fame! I had played up my last five scenarios and had received a "Butt Load" of gold in comparison to my level/fame. WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! And NO, I am not going to say what I did... maybe later. After I recover a bit.... It was bad enough suffering through the weekend (we had a big weekend) with only being able to use the second enchantment TWICE - just two hits over four scenarios. So, having being saved by all you OUTSTANDING folks.... I am going to just start a new thread to request suggestions on what enchantment to purchase. Thanks all!
Wow, thanks for the fast replies. The thing is not so much a misunderstanding of the rules. It is just not knowing of all the rules. And then finding out after the fact... finding out how bad it is the very first scenario when you take your first swing with the newly enchanted sword. ______________ So you walk into the Society Lodge and find the guy who does the enchanting. You grin as you plop down a large bag of your hard earned gold down and reverently hand over your prize sword and ask to put this enchantment on it. The wizard takes a moment, looks at you and then just bursts out laughing and say's "Son, why don't you rethink that choice a moment and come back later when you got things figured out.... in fact, maybe you should ask Valeros. In fact I insist you tell him your idea.... BWahahahahaaaaa"
Ok, long story short is that I just found out I really did a stupid thing. I'm relatively new to PFS and this is my second character. After saving, and saving, to spend 8,000gp on a second enchantment on my +1 adamantine bastard sword I find that it's about the worst thing ever. I sit down all ready to slap some hurt with my newly enchanted sword and get... nothing. Nothing but a lot of snickers and "you did what?" sort of looks and "you noob". "Yup, he really is a Big DUMB Fighter." So, I guess my question is, is there a way to change it? Some sort cost to get it removed. Is there a grace period for mistakes? Or is there no mechanic/options to correct mistakes? Otherwise I'm just going to toss it way and chuck the character.
My very first PFS was a human cleric of Sarenrae. I'm 13th getting ready to pop 14. After 8th level or so your not going to be a close quarter combatant if you can help it. Your spells will take over and let me tell you the MM rod of reach is one of my best rods. Heck, I got two. I have only lost ONE character in all the games that I was the cleric - She was a low-mid level wizard (5th or 6th) and walked into an empowered fireball and failed the save. Poof! It was sad. Summon Monster is by far the most powerful spell you can use in just about every situation. If I were limited to just one spell, that would be it.
Akerlof, I looked in the the Seeker of Secretes and the ioun stone wayfinder combo gives a re-roll and a +2 moral bonus, not immunity. I admit this is a great purchase and I'll be getting one asap. Clear spindle: Protection from possession and mental
"....the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person). This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect."
Awesome and timely thread as I have a 3rd lvl FPS fighter archer with exactly the same stat set up.... I really like the snap shot line and some of the options it can offer and the retraining advice is killer - really good stuff all. However, how do we manage the low wisdom score without any feats to assist. Sure the cloaks of resistance, ioun stones, and a trait can help. But what are your all's thinking? Risk the low wisdom score for a more DPR? Keep in mind that in PFS games ya never really know who is going to be sitting down and sometimes being more well rounded can be more vital vs a know party for a campaign.
Barry was (and still is) one of my "go-to" guys when I rolled up my first Cleric and joined the PFS. Over the last year and a half I have a few more characters, upped my game play, and found my way around the table with more confidence all due to our Captain and his new Lieutenant. They have made this area in Mo a top flight PFS area. It's nothing to see 20-30 folks at our monthly, and now we are looking at a weekly with the expansion of the gaming store. And lets not forget a few pick-up games every now and then!! Simply OUTSTANDING work guys, TJ |
