Happy to call it one action.

Her work done, Araneae turns to the discussion of the afterlife, ignoring the new god's threat. The stars that make up her form glitter as she speaks. "What happens to the souls after death is none of my concern. Fate determines a being's birth, its life and its death not that which comes after... Unless we give the mortals a further chance? - Perhaps their lives should be cyclical and infinite rather than fixed? Perhaps the Lord of Death might be willing to release them back into the mortal realm in a new form after a period spent in his care?"

Araneae danced in the heavens as the gods went about their activities, bringing civilisation of sorts to the various creatures that now roamed the lands. The Mother of Spiders was content to watch as they played their games and their creations fought and died. Finally, however, a great change in the heavens drew her ire as a new god birthed a great shining orb which scorched the very land, obscuring the light of her stars from her chosen on the planet below. She watched as the sea dried and the living things suffered. And she knew that this was not the path fate had marked out.

And so Araneae searched and, finding Therin, she appeared before the Eternal Eclipse, she spoke "You would cast the world aside from the path? Do you think others here do not see what you do? You would have your light bake the earth and cause nothing but pain and suffering? Stand aside for I am the Fateweaver, The Mother of Spiders. It was I who created the stars that you try to outshine. IT SHALL NOT BE SO."

And Araneae circled the sun, trailing behind herself a gossamer thread of fate. And Araneae pulled, drawing the sun away from its place and sending it spiralling around the earth. "I am Araneae, one of the first gods. Listen to my decree Shining One. - All celestial creations will circle the earth according to my will - Your light will no longer be merely a source of pain - but of life - of seasons, of growth and renewal!"

I'd be happy to create a map (its kind of a hobby anyway). I'm very short of time ATM so it'd be helpful if someone could synthesise the information that needs to go into it for me or maybe a rough sketch that I could base off?

Araneae watched the stars as the other gods worked their will upon the world. Observing as new life spread across the planet. One particular species: the creations of Atheos caught her attention in particular. Smaller than the other beings and seemingly blessed of fewer means of surviving on the new planet amongst so many other powerful beings. Araneae, nevertheless, sensed promise in them. Travelling down to the planet she watched as the creatures, Ignorant of their fate, hunted and gathered, fought, died, and reproduced. The creatures' lives seemed full of fear and misery. As they went about their short lives they were plagued by discomfort of every sort: hunger, sorrow, disease, and constantly harassed by swarms of biting and crawling insects against which their naked bodies had no defence. And they had no hope for they remained ignorant of their fates and, in their ignorance, struggled like the insects in her children's webs, against their allotted place in the pattern of fate.

And so Araneae, feeling sorry for the poor creatures, acted. Drawing forth the eight-legged creature gifted to her by The Beastfather, she breathed into it a portion of her own essence and released it into the world and it, like the other living things, reproduced and spread its offspring throughout the world. Araneae watched and was pleased as the spiders weaved intricate webs of gossamer that caught the insects, relieving, in part, the suffering of the creatures. But still the creatures struggled. So Araneae moved among the people travelling from group to group. And in each group she found a a girl that had been marked by fate and to each of the girls, she gifted the ability to see the pattern of fate in the webs of her children and in the web of the stars so that the creatures might live in harmony with their fate. And their girl's daughters would, for all time, inherit the gift.

Araneae stands calmly listening as Atheos proposes his rules and as Zakaz and then Tissari join the pantheon, and as Liriiestil makes his refusal before moving forward, her insubstantial form shimmering as she does so. "I too will join." she says to the others, turning to the lord of elves. "As The Lionheart says, this path promises harmony - a means to avoid the fate of the old universe. To join, then, is to dance in step with the music of the spheres. To avoid the discord that leads only to conflict, chaos and destruction. Are you sure then, that you will not join?"

Spending 1 AP to join

I think you certainly need to specifically spell out the advanced concepts that you're creating - there's no list of all possible advanced concepts anywhere, so creating 'all of them' isn't really possible.... I'd also tend to think of aetherpunk as either a magical concept, or as an alchemy of technology and magic concepts...?

(NG) fledgling goddess of divination, fate, music, the stars and spiders. Att: 2d6 | Def: 4d6 | HP: 40 | AP: 3

Araneae beheld Zakaz's creation and released a musical, melodic laugh that echoed through the Vault of the gods. "My thanks, father of beasts. I foresaw the creation of such creatures, but their source was hidden from my sight. These wonders are a gift indeed!"

More than happy to go along with whatever ruling the MOD makes... As a way of explanation I was thinking that time == entropy --> death... - that is, that death is a necessary outcome of entropy, which is (essentially) the same thing as time. (kind of what Shess said)

Happy with whatever ruling you make though (although making it 2x decrees would mean that we'd have to retcon death out... I don't have the AP for 2 decrees!).. Its a bit tricky to figure out what we need to make.. gravity? sex? pain? love? hate? evaporation? tides? light? darkness? Do these things happen automatically when other things happen (e.g., does light automatically exist when stars are created, or does it need a separate creation event?)

Note that, in narrative terms, Araneae is not the creator of death... she's merely revealing its inevitability due to the creation of time. Plenty of space for a god/goddess of death in there somewhere.

Thanatos' siblings were Geras(Old Age), Oizys (Suffering), Moros (Doom), Apate (Deception), Momus (Blame), Eris (Strife), Nemesis (Retribution) (From wikipedia) - do each of these need a separate creation?

So, Araneae just created time and mandated that all (created) things must die (5AP)

(NG) fledgling goddess of divination, fate, music, the stars and spiders. Att: 2d6 | Def: 4d6 | HP: 40 | AP: 3

Aranae felt the tugging of fate in her web - the trace of divinity acting on the surface of the world, and so she looked and saw the creatures that Zakaz had brought forth. Aranae looked and frowned for, though the creatures and the plants had the semblance of life, the other god had erred. And so she drifted, and came to the place where the Beast and the Voice had met, appearing as a drifting web of shimmering lights that mirrored the stars. And she spoke to Zakaz saying, "I have seen the fate of the world - the tangled potential of what you have wrought. You have brought forth wonders. But without time existence is nothing. Without effect, cause is meaningless."

And so, once again casting her gaze to the motes of fate that adorned the sky she watched as the stars began to turn in the heavens. And casting her eyes downward she watched as the things Zakaz had created began to live. And Araneae spoke again. "But with time comes disorder, entropy. Just as the old universe died, and the new was born, so must living things die and be born. I have seen the course of fate, the strands of possibility. Life must be bounded in time for life cannot be without death? I have seen it, for it is inevitable"

Cosmic Decree (5AP): Create time & entropy - created things must die (no immortal races)

Quite like the idea of a twilight world, but there needs to be an alternative source of energy. As Atheos noted, the stars could do the job, but they'd have to be very close.... an internal - earth-based source would mean that plants wouldn't grow upwards (no forests). If someone wants to create magic then that could be the source, especially if it emanates in some way from the stars/sky. I'd be happy to do this but it might have to wait a bit if i'm going to create time itself (didn't realise this was necessary but will get on to it as soon as i get some time to post properly.)

More than happy for you to have introduced insects - just wanted to see if there's anything for my children to eat when they do arrive!

How do we get in contact with the MODs?

Just post here, unless you want to keep it private, in which case you should PM them.

Quick question Zakaz: Did you include the insects in your creation? (if so I've got some work to do.... if I could ask politely for everyone to refrain from creating spiders - its kind of central Araneae's motif. Cheers!)

PS.. They'll be along in a while.. I have plans for them.

Gain ability: Crystal seer (5AP)
Join Zakaz in creating material plane - the stars: (2 AP) created by weaving a cosmic web that captures motes of fate (the stars themselves).

Have added stars to the list of things Araneae is god of.

Zakaz wrote:

Araneae: If you want to share the Weave plane cost with me that could conver the stars, I think.

Perhaps 2 for me for the first planet and base reality, 2 for you for the cosmos, 1 for Tissari for whatever she wants to do?

Works for me,... consider those 2 AP spent by me.

The ruins of the universe roiled and swept through the void as time cracked under the onslaught of the immense wave of the chaos which shattered causality itself. For eons, seconds, moments there was disorder but in the disorder were motes, eddies of power - the last vestiges of what had once been. The eddies shifted in the sea of disorder and began to coalesce into islands of stability - of order and its mirror - chaos. As effect began to follow cause, so was born a pattern and from the pattern a melody. Stuttering at first then growing, matching the harmony that incessantly, inexorably began to shape itself. And as the first notes of the SONG resonated, so was born as its inevitable outcome one who could see the pattern, one who was the pattern. Araneae danced, marvelling in the threads of cause and effect that rained past her. Possibilities, moments in time, notes in the song... potential, possible futures. But the pattern was obscured, drifting in and out of sight, in and out of audibility, in and out of thought. And as the material took form - birthed from the birth-roar of another, Araneae wove a great web in the void, capturing motes of possibility from the order and disorder of the new universe. And so were the stars themselves born, and Araneae turned and looked at the new universe and the entities even now forming within it.

So, I have no idea how many AP it costs to create the stars... thoughts? (Maybe contribute AP to Zakaz's Create Plane action? .... Also Gaining ability:

Crystal Seer:
Your god automatically knows when another god spends AP, unless 1 AP is spent to cloak the action from your Sight. A God with the "One With Shadows" ability does not need to spend AP to cloak his actions from your sight.

Thought it might be handy to have a quick list of the gods to remind everyone who's who, and what they're all about.

The Gods:

Araneae (NG), goddess of diviners, fate, musicians, dancers and spiders.
Zakaz (N), god of Animals and Monsters.
Shess (NE), god of knowledge, recording and schemes.
Apedemak Lionheart (LG), glory, war; leadership, lions and righteous battle.
Tissari (CG), goddess of creativity and invention.
Athaeos (LG), philosophy, knowledge, debate, arcane magic and discovery.
Liriiestil (CG), god of arcane magic, divine magic, elven subraces.

Might be nice to have in the campaign info as well?
