It seems to me that you're being very specific. It would be more like you're wanting to open a restaurant in the United States. I hope that Goblinworks isn't making PFO to cater to a tiny portion of MMO players. There's not an unlimited number of people who would willingly put up with closed vendors, darkness, anonymity (most people who play the game like to achieve a point where people will recognize their achievements, not just call them Bob), etc.

Imagine "Bob". Bob works 8 hours a day and has a family. The only thing Bob likes to do in his off time is play his favorite MMO for a couple hours a day while his time permits. Perhaps Bob's kids are asleep and his wife is catching her nightly T.V. programming. Bob has two free hours but his favorite MMO, PFO, is in it's night cycle during these hours. Unfortunately for Bob, the vendors are off sleeping to maintain some much needed realism for a small minority of other players... It sure sucks to be Bob since night cycles are consistent and so is his work/home schedule. Bob uninstalls PFO and goes back to playing the various other MMOs that don't arbitrarily punish him for having a job and family. One thing to keep in mind is that there are alot of "Bobs" in the world. Disclaimer: No Bobs were harmed in the writing of this post.

I know I'm not Scott but I'll toss out the first thing that comes to mind. MMO's are meant to be played 24/7 usually. The idea being that you can log in whenever you want and immediately jump into the action. I don't see that working too well for Casters that have a limited amount of spells per day. I just couldn't see someone saying "Sorry, guys, I'd love to come with you but I still have 4 hours left to rest before I get my spells back." The same goes for Resting for HP's back and more rules I don't feel like typing out.
There are plenty of places you can go to fulfill all of your Erotic RPing needs. It doesn't even take much effort to find them (Google, anyone?). This entire thread is just silly. Erotic RPing servers have no place on a game that will no doubt have children playing. And yes, I noticed that you tossed out a brief blanket statement about someone mentioning that very thing. You obviously have no children of your own. Grow up. (If only my dad could see this. Never thought I'd start mimicking him this quickly.)
I, for one, hope there is a myriad of items to aquire in PFO. Otherwise, I'd be playing the game for no tangible benefit. Killing people for their trash gear that I can just purchase from a market for nothing doesn't seem fun and the same goes for any quests I complete. So...bring on the hundreds of daggers!
I would appreciate it if someone could explain to me why the 'sandbox' advocates believe they're not going to log on every day and do the same thing over and over. I also would like to know why 'themepark' advocates wouldn't want to be able to do just a little bit more than the normal grind. To my mind, there's not much difference between 'themepark' and 'sandbox'. Yes, I get that you can be a crafter/adventurer/guard/bandit/community leader. It will probably be nifty/new/exciting for the first 1000 log ins but eventually you have to realize you're doing the same thing. No difference between the two types. Except, of course, the term attached to it. To my mind, there's not much difference between 'themepark' and 'sandbox'. I see alot of threads that want to discuss how to make PFO better but they inevitably degenerate into 'IhatesWoW/Iloves[insert sandbox game]' and 'IlovesPvP/IhatesPvP' arguments. I would prefer that we all discuss a compromise. Perhaps a Themebox or Sandpark. Then, we'd be discussing the SAME GAME. On a side note, my general impression of the game so far from prospective players views is that we should be able to do everything from nailing a horseshoe on a hoof to micro-managing a city and everything in between. Obviously, all of that isn't viable. I would like to see a game with a great story (it is based on Pathfinder) and have compelling pvp. Edit: Too late for alot of typing.
I play almost exclusively during nighttime hours and having to stare at a mostly dark screen doesn't appeal to me at all. Spooky atmosphere is nice but darkness is hardly the only way to evoke spookiness. They could just use some muted colors/blue tint and sound to do pretty much the same thing without all the hassle.
A game that has open world PVP AND I can loot their corpses for their hard earned lootz AND some of the people I'll be killing aren't even a combat class AND there's so many people on these forums that don't want pvp in any way (killing you once or twice isn't griefing, that's just fun). Sign me up. On a side note, I don't think negative rep/taking away some gear is going to stop me from killing anyone I want. I spend all day every day killing players for their sweet loot. If you put me in poor gear and give me some penalties, I'm still going to be looting 75-80% of anyone I come across. And that's combat classes. The above is an example of what runs through my head as I read your posts. Yes, I love PVP and I will pretty much kill anything moving if I can just because I WANT to. The fact that someone is annoyed by it/giving me bad rep is just icing on the cake. I have friends who will do the same thing. Who cares if the other half of the population doesn't like it? ^This is only half serious. It's my first intial thoughts as someone who loves PVP and yes, some twinking. That's the sort of people you'll be dealing with. Not someone who wants to RP on an PVP MMO and pick flowers with you.
I don't quite understand how some people willfuly (seemingly) forget that he murdered thousands. Maybe not directly but certainly at his orders. He should've died much slower. I probably would've televised it for the benefit of his followers (and, admittedly, my own satisfaction). I don't believe in showing mercy and kindness, or even fairness, to people like that. They're enemies of the United States. They should be treated that way. Sign in to create or edit a product review. |
