I couldn't believe it.....
I was over at one of my jobs picking up my check, and this other tech says, "Osama Bin Laden's dead!" So I said, "are you sure it's not Qaddafi?"
Then another tech came in; she written him a note and he thought she said the President because she kinda spelled Osama funny....

Wrong David. They are going to spend the next hundred years launching terrorist raids into the US to get that body back. Every thing you can imagine is comming.
They could jack a hundred Airliners across the world, fully fueled and fly them into the USA looking for Tergets to land them into. Likely they will begin taking out every living Ex US President and their families. US citizens outside the USA will be a priority target. Sea Mines. Air Mines (Hand Grenades on gas filled baloons into Airline Traffic Corridors designed to snag and blow on wings - they had them in WW2). Its gonna be full on.Heathansson |

Yeah, let's try dialing back the crazy a bit please.
On the contrary Gary, that aint crazy. The US made a big mistate not taking him alive and disappearing him into a prison at the south Pole.
Given Al Quaeda's increasing use of 'cheap and dirty' A hand grenade tied to a wire and carried aloft by a large party baloon to snag on an airliner's wing is cheaper than a Surface to Air and below Homeland security's Radar when it comes to watching materials movement.

Isn't it kinda hard when everybody you're trying to troll is too happy to give a crap?

Or the more likely scenario is that they will make a few last gasps at a handful of attacks and then disappear like the PLO did after Arafat died. Sea mines are well beyond the resources of Al Qaeda and the balloon bombs sound good until you realize that they did not work during World War II which is why the Japanese stopped using them. A hand grenade tied to a party balloon is unlikely to reach the air lanes and even if they did, the pin would not come free of the grenade simply from the impact with an aircraft wing, the physics are all wrong. If it did, the delay fuse on the grenade ensures that the plan is well clear of the blast zone before the grenade goes off. In fact the balloon is a bigger threat to the plane than the grenade since it could FOD out the engine, but since that has not ever happened according to the NTSB it is extremely unlikely either. And since 9/11 the whole world has changed and hijackings are highly unlikely. The only reason that the 9/11 hijackers were able to do what they did was because the common wisdom was hijackers wanted the passengers and crew alive as leverage to get demands met. Never again will people allow hijackers to take over a plane like they did on 9/11.

Interestingly enough, I do see where Dingo is coming from- dead men tell no tales, but dead bodies tend to generate more wild and way-out-there questions than live ones do. I would have loved to see a trial myself, but there would have been issues with that as well, primarily security based. All in all, I'm glad he's gone, but there is the very real situation of the rest of his organization.

Personally? A mix of grim relief and worry.
I wish he had been taken alive, for a lot of reasons. I'm a little ashamed to admit sheer spite and contempt for the man is one of them.

I'm glad he's been put out of commission, but a person died horribly. I can't do a dance over a human being, no matter how evil, having his head blown off.

Watching CNN, drinking a celebratory glass of whiskey, and singing "God Bless America". Those of you who are "conflicted" and "sad" can kiss my ass!
That terrorist piece of crap who destroyed countless thousands of lives FINALLY got his due!
Since one of the things A.Q. stated as their objective was to kill 4 million American children - or so I have heard at least - ... +1.

I've got no gift of prophecy to say what will come of this, but it's probably for the best that he's no longer a living focus for extremism.
I suspect that the wave of popular protest leading to the toppling of regimes in places like Egypt, etc. will ultimately be more relevant to the fate of extremist terror groups in the world than the death of any one man. In Iran, the Ayatollah and the President are openly sniping at each other, a year after they were best friends in opposition to the new 'green revolution.' Change is coming pretty fast and crazy in that part of the world, and who knows what shape it will spin into.

Given the opportunity, I would have slain him without a second thought. However, I cannot take pleasure in his death.

I can understand the conflicted feelings, I have a feeling of delivered justice. But I take no pleasure in anyone's death. But I do hope that this news may bring some closure to the families of all the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and to the families of those who died in Afghanistan. A very horrible individual is gone, and even though i wish there had been a trial, I also know what that inevitable verdict would be.

I cant help but feel extremely happy at this news. Obama will get a second term and we need a huge shout out to the US military as well as the Pakistani officials/people for not preventing the US from doing what they needed to do.
PS, my niece and her husband are in base lockdown at the moment, keep your wits and I will talk to you in the morning.
