In this episode of the podcast, Mike and Kyle introduce answer the ever-burning question-- Hey, dude! Whatcha playin'? And they spend the hour discussing all the various and sundry roleplaying games that they've experimented with over the last several weeks. But as it turns out, they've both only played Paizo's Pathfinder. Specifically, they both only played the Rise of the Runelords campaign. But they love it, as loyal listeners well know. They spend time talking about problems that have arisen and how they've adapted the campaigns to the particular problems with their groups.

Enjoy the podcast and, as always... you're welcome.

ANIMAL CAST EPISODE #60, Nick MFing Logue Episode!
I thought of exactly the same answers to F Marry, or Die. Get out of my head!

No way. I had no idea where he was going with that, but I liked his answers better than what I was anticipating.

Hey all!

I just did a really fun interview with the Animalcast guys, and it went live today. Listen as we rap about Sinister Adventures, werewolf rape, 4E, my man-crush on James Jacobs (and its tragic outcome), and Zen and the Art of Icy Death.

Scope it!

ANIMAL CAST EPISODE #60, Nick MFing Logue Episode!

Thanks again, Nick. Much thanks to James too for giving us some clever inside information.

Best... interview... ever. You're the best, Nick.

...that the Animalcast was nominated for an Ennie Award. It's the episode we highlighted on our submission. All votes would be appreciated. Here's the "official" press:

The Animalcast is Nominated for an Ennie!

In an unexpected surprise, the Animalcast (the podcast from Animalball Games) was actually nominated for an award. The Ennies have chosen the Animalcast as a finalist in the Best Fan Product award. Voting for the Ennies is open from July 29 through August 6.

Animalcast co-host Kyle Jones has promised that if the podcast wins, in lieu of an acceptance speech, he will sing a ballad to the fans of the show. He commented, "We figure we have no chance of winning. So as an incentive for people to vote, we'd guarantee the greatest acceptance speech in the Ennies long and storied history." The Animalcast is accepting suggestions for Kyle's ballad at kylehasthepipesofanangel@animalball.com. Co-host Mike Jones added, "It's just an honor to be nominated, but we wanted to find a way to give back to the community if we won. And what better way to do that than to treat the audience to Kyle's dulcet tones?"

The Animalcast is listed as the "Animalball Games Podcast" in the Best Fan Product category. Interested parties can vote here.

Ahhhhh... the days when Ally Sheedy was the hottest thing going. Good times. Good times.

I imagine he's busy wrapping up the Open Design project or some Dark Horizon Indulgences or Pathfinder Society goodness or any one of a dozen or so irons he has in the fire...

And I've got eight kids under the age of 12-- NO EXCUSES!

The Animalcast has issued an all-points bulletin for the whereabouts of Nick Logue. Mr. Logue has been described as being between 5 foot 2 and 6 foot 3, generally hairy and with a "swarthy" appearance. At last report, Mr. Logue had promised an interview with the Animalcast, going so far as to provide a "working" email for future contact. All efforts to contact Mr. Logue at the aforementioned email were fruitless. If you have information on the current whereabouts of Mr. Logue, the Animalcast requests that you email them at whereintheworldisnicklogue@animalball.com. All information received will be held in the strictest confidence. IF YOU SPOT THE SUBJECT, DO NOT APPROACH HIM! He is known to have a filthy mouth and is skilled in swordplay. The Animalcast thanks you in advance.

Just finished listening to it, good interview.

But Monte Man-crushes? Really? I've met Monte..

Huh. I didn't realize I double posted this. Sorry to the gods 'o' message boards.

But let me address what's really important... did he smell good?

Good stuff. I've been listening to a bunch of old episodes, really enjoyable. You guys are crazy for having so many kids.

Mike's a lightweight with only four.

Thanks again for the interview, Jason. And remember that you promised to put in the good word for us with that bastard Nick Logue.

In Episode 48 of the Animalcast, the guys get to the bottom of the controversy stirred up in Episode 47. Specifically, they get the real answer as to the similarities between Father Llymic in WotC's Elder Evil's supplemental book and Kyle's project, Gemini's Glade. It turns out it was a case of parallel development. In this indepth interview, the guys talk with Jason Bulmahn, who authored the Father Llymic portion of Elder Evils. Kyle offers a full apology and retraction to both Jason and Robert Schwalb. The guys then talk to Jason about his work on the Pathfinder RPG rules for Paizo with Monte Cook as a consultant. Jason talks about what it's like working with Monte, how good Monte smells and answers the burning question Kyle has been trying to get an answer to- does Monte ever ask about him? Jason also talks about working at Paizo, and they conclude the episode with a few choice words Kyle has for Nick Logue at Sinister Adventures. Jason predicts Kyle will be issuing a retraction and apology to Nick Logue in the near future.

And seven kids? Now I feel lazy, and I'm jealous. My wife and I do not have any children.

I've got some extra just laying around if you want them. They're not the grade A kids, but they're okay.

If anyone liked the podcast, we just recorded this week's episode last night (it will be released Sunday) and Paranoia game designer Allen Varney makes a cameo to play a joke on Mike.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of this podcast . . . is it a gaming podcast that talks about gaming on a regular basis, or a podcast that talks about other stuff and only occassionally talks about table top gaming?

We're a gaming podcast that occasionally talks about other geek stuff (comics, movies, etc.). But every episode is 100% full of a butt-load of funny.

William Pall wrote:
I'll probably still listen either way, just if it's the first I'll be more likely to listen sooner.

James was actually one episode shy of our first year. We record every week- go to the site for all our past episodes-- http://animalball.libsyn.com

[Edit- the message boards censored out b-u-t-t? Wow, I hope the programmer of the boards doesn't listen to the 'cast 'cause we have a few f-bombs that might damage sensitive ears.]

I'm playing in Rise of the Runelords, are there any spoilers for that AP in the interview.

There are some. Depending on where you fall under the "no spoiler" scale... It isn't bad.

If you are on the side of "don't tell me the adventure's name, because it will give away the basic plotline," then you want to wait to listen to it.

If you don't mind stuff like (not RotR spoiler) "the group climbs down into the underdark and takes on Drow and even a Red Dragon," then you will be okay.

That's exactly how I would have characterized it. Thanks for all the compliments- my brother and I have been doing this for exactly one year next week and are basically just BSing about our different geek related interests. Most of the casts focus on gaming, but some are comics, horror movies, etc.

For our second year, we're focusing more on gaming (particularly D&D since that's all either of us is playing with our kids right now) and are trying to rotate interviews with game designers (you hear that, Nick Logue?), game reviews and player profiles every six weeks or so with our usual topics-- and the majority of those future topics are going to be D&D related.

In Episode 44, the guys interview James Jacobs, the editor-in-chief of the Pathfinder adventure line at Paizo Publishing. The guys get into an indepth discussion of the ins and outs of the first Pathfinder adventure path, Rise of the Runelords including questions from Mike and Kyle's kids who are currently playing through the adventure arc. The guys try to figure out how exactly what it takes to try to coordinate the massive story lines and plot twists of Pathfinder's six-issue adventures. They also talk about the Pathfinder RPG, what James thinks about the guys at Wizards of the Coast, how cool it is to get an adventure published in Dungeon at age 14, and how to exact your bitter revenge on Erik Mona. Finally, James undergoes the gauntlet of the Animalball Hotseat, answering the five hardest questions he's faced since taking the SAT.

Can get Sinister Adventures to do a podcast but we can't get some loving from Paizo? :)
I'd LOVE to do a Paizo podcast. Unfortunately, that's not something I myself have the skills or time or equipment to set up. There are certainly other folk at Paizo who do, I suspect, but they've got lots of other responsibilities as well. It just hasn't been all that high on our priority list yet. Higher priorities: Getting the RPG products on schedule, keeping the webstore working, coordinating dozens of convention and other business trips, publishing a line of novels, etc.

You're being modest. James just did an interview with us last night for our podcast at Animalball (which will be released this Sunday) and did an excellent job. You'd be good in a podcast, James.
