So looks like a safe assumption this game is dead. It's been fun.
Meeting up with her companions in the evening to discuss things, Anathya frowns at the somewhat troubling accounts. "It sounds like we should probably pay a visit to the shrine. While some of the events sound like a minor haunting, the possible personality shift of one so connected to it is.....makes me twitch."
Finding the group she had trained, Anathya spends time finding out what they'd discovered if anything, going over patrol routes and signs enemy activity, either past or recent. She looks into the matters at hand as well, seeking as much information as possible, and in the meanwhile reconnecting with her companions and allies.
Dealing with the after effects of a car accident 3 weeks ago. Rear ended at a red light by commercial van. My wife has been out from work last 3 weeks, guaranteed to be out at least two more pending assessment for concussion/whiplash. Had 12 lidocaine shots in the head, face and neck day before yesterday. Dealing with insurance, rental place, lawyers, doctors and disability paperwork, while still dragging myself into work with muscle spasms in my upper back.
Anathya quickly begins to search through the area, finding a cache of gold. "Ready t move on?"
"Meanwhile, as loathe as I am to let that demon go, I'd rather it's handiwork didn't leave us vulnerable to whatever we face next," Anathya says reaching into her scroll case and casting a restoration spell on first Julian, then herself, reversing the debilitating effects of the demon's magic.
"Destination is well over 1000ft away. Might not be worth the effort and distraction to give chase." Anathya replies.
Eyes narrowing as the demon vanishes, Anathya moves to where the creature was, taking her time to study the air around where it vanashed, taking in the scent and signature of it's planar travel.
With a groan, Anathya shudders as that horrible feeling washes over her again, feeling as if her soul were being eroded. Focusing through the sensation, she continues to fire at the vile demon.
Anathya's eyes glow white as she draws power forth, moving with incredible alacrity as her crossbow appears in her hand, touching the weapon ad a golden glow spreads across it. In a blur of motion she unleashes a trio of shots, fired unerringly at the locust demon.
Gritting her teeth as the insects begin to sting, Anathya calls forth divine power to sear it's way through the swarm,incinerating many of the creatures. As she does she draws a scroll from her hip, readying to cast a defensive spell.
Julian went, demon should be up next since it beat me on init.
Unfortunately that looks like the case. I check every couple days....used to check every day, but looks like it's pretty dead. It was fun for the little while I was a part of it.
Even as the creature moves to attack, Anathya begins to rattle off her knowledge of the Deskari spawn, listing it's strengths and weaknesses.
As the creature emerges, even as it exceeds the reaction time, Anathya's mind races through the extensive catalog of demonology stemming from her wealth of experience.
Anathya gives a silent nod, checking her weapons.

Taking her leave, Anathya heads back out to first meet with her unit of rangers. It was a bit welcome to note their reactions when Julian had made his...unorthodox entrance, how ready they were to engage, though she explained it away as a propensity towards the dramatic. Ensuring that they understood their mandate, and that in her absence their leader should report any and all findings to Irabeth, she makes sure they are well prepared before leaving them and heading to the citadel’s magic stores, obtaining an arsenal of useful spells in the form of scrolls of multiple levels, to go along with the alchemical items Julian had supplied, and a healing wand that would vastly improve their ability to recover in the field. She would make sure they were ready, well equipped and as prepared as they could be for anything.
Wow. I'm really sorry. Hang in there.
"That works." Anathya responds.
Anathya ponders the references, having been a bit to shaken up at the time to really catch them when mentioned by the shadow demon.
"They're ready, any other training they need will happen in the field. I've taught them how to survive and that's the core of it." she replies.
So I may not be around much for the next few days. My wife and I took a few days off to celebrate our 10th anniversary, complete with our son spending the week at my mom’s. I may get in a post a day but no guarantees.
"It's not going to wear off." Anathya quips with a grin.
"At your side?....Always." Anathya answers with a wink and a smile of her own.
Wow, that's horrible.
"Nevertheless... Anathya, Ragathiel is pleased with your efforts and what you have learned in your time here. He calls you not to be a Justicar of his own, but to be a hunter of the dark. If Rowan is a sword, then you are a bow, with the power to hunt all evil that comes within range." She pushed up on her toes and kissed Anathya's forehead. "You, too, are necessary for what must be done. Watch over your friends, and see what others may not." The words ring in her mind, echoing with a deep resonance, a refocusing of purpose. While Julian might chafe at the idea of Rowan dedicating her life to Iomedae's cause, she understood, in fact she understood all to well. While drastically different she had given her own life to the fight against the darkness. She new all too well the solitude, the loneliness at hat accompanied the noble purpose and honor in being her deity's champion. And now she also understood the balance needed to prevent being lost in the darkness. Thanks to Rowan and Julian, she understood that as long as one remembered they were not alone, never truly alone....there would always be that glimmer of light in the deepest darkness. She may have come close to losing her way once, but she had been through some of the worst she'd ever faced recently and come out the other side. She would be the hunter in the darkness, the darkness that in many ways was her home. Her sacrifice was to become a denizen of the darkness while fighting for the light, hunting in the places the light could barely touch. She understood the darkness better than most. She would show mercy where warranted, she would honor the genuine desire for redemption, and in fact champion it, but she knew as well that there would always be those that would take the outstretched hand only to draw closer for betrayal, who would claim to accept the chance to change, only until the opportunity arose to strike again. In those cases, where betrayal lay in wait, where facing the darkness would endanger the purest of the light's champions, where the only option left was swift and final judgement, she would be there. Smiling at the sight of Rowan communicating with her new divine companion, the Slayer of Ragathiel comes forward to rest a hand on the newly appointed Justicar, noting Julian caught in his own inner turmoil. "How do you feel?"

Retraining to add Demonslayer archetype. Relevent changes:
Already had evil outsider as 1st favored enemy, but lose 2nd favored enemy Archetype retrain = 5 days per feature swapped. = 15 days Total retrain cost 10 x 9 x 15 = 1350g I'll deduct the gold and revise sheet before leveling. Would stick with Inquisitor/Ranger
Or I may go Inquisitor/Slayer.
On the Ranger side, would it bepossible to apply the Demonslayer Archetype? It doesn't in any way interact with any of the features that the Divine Tracker archetype does, and they're pretty complementary.

It's a mess.
At the glistening yet unshed tears she sees in Rowan's eyes, the sad smile that said as much as the strong confident voice, Anathya almost speaks up. Holding her tongue, she leaves the moment to Rowan and Julian, not interrupting as Iomedae's chosen explains why she could truly only make one choice while remaining herself. She would express her thoughts later. Wresting her gaze away she turns her head to look at Kariel, the angel resplendent in her power despite her apparent nonchalance.
Anathya is utterly speechless first at realizing the is in the presence of a powerful angel, but even more so as she realizes the offer being made to Rowan, both in terms of the sacrifice and what was being granted. She would function as the Hand of Iomedae, with all the authority and power one would expect but most likely her life would never again completely be her own. Her eyes fall on the ascendant paladin, radiant in her humility. She understood the choice, she had tried to throw herself into the role of the deliverer of vengeance and somehow almost lost her way. But if anyone had the strength of character to uphold the ideals of their god she fully believed Rowan was the one.
Anathya is going over the patrol route with her Rangers, when she hears every wepon being drawn, seconds before she feels a....presence land behind her, black feathered wings wrapping around her. 'That flicker...the protections must've failed!' she thinks feeling a fraction of second of panic, her crossbow teleporting into her hand even as the black feathers retreated. Spinning to bring her weapon up she, pauses, partially from recognition and also...something there....something powerful....predatory.....his glowing red eyes somehow managing to make her feel completely naked. As he speaks, she can sense an undercurrent of barely restrained lust in his voice. 'This explains the tight control he holds all the time....what's under that is....intense.'
"Uhm....good to know, I was a little worried about that." As he leans closer she can feel the restrained energy radiating off him. Her eyes widen as he whispers the name. "In person? Okay let's go.....Uhm....are we....flying or.."
As the light flickers, Anathya runs through she'd ever heard about both the Sword of Valor and the way in which such artifacts were known to act in times of crisis or moments of great import.
Anathya smiles at the sight of the golden light radiating from where the Sword of Valor was housed. The fortress of Drezen had been restored, and the sightof it filled her with joy. Though her true path would always lie in hunting and slaying the creatures of evil and chaos, it was incredibly uplifting to see and be reminded of what it was she was fighting to achieve and protect.
Loving the different responses to Rowan in her forge outfit all sweaty. lol. Julian: Hmm.....urm....(adjusts trousers)...gonna have a difficult time getting that image out of my head. Anathya: I would totally follow her into the Abyss. (sigh)
Yup you don't have the Avengers doing paperwork.
