Female Lyn-Srial : Parry 10 / RATN 8 / Toughness 15(6) / 3 Bennies
I PM'd the GM a few days ago, who's currently active (and GM'ing) in several other games, and asked if he'd be re-starting this one anytime soon. No reply yet, but in one of his other games he said the end of May was really stressful, so he may need some time to recover.
EltonJ - in the Palladium West books, are Lyn-Srial pacifists? They basically are in SWADE RIFTS, so to justify her being a fighter I made my PC a recent arrival on Earth thru a rift to the Lyn-Srial home planet (because *some* of them had to be fighters there). If her being a fighter is not an issue, I'm ok with her being born on Earth.

We could remove a lot of complexity from this trial run if you want to change the mechs to creatures, maybe with the exact same stats (like, armor-skinned dragons or something)? Just come up with new attack methods (claws for Fighting, fire breath for Shooting). That would remove all the "vehicle" and "missile" aspects of the combat. BTW, what were the results of my attack? Did either robot become Incapacitated? It looks like everyone but Abe has acted this round. Then it's the Skelebots turn. Sorry, but as well as I know the system, even I don't relish the thought of figuring out the roll modifiers and making all those rolls.

GM ST : the rules for falling are on page 109 of SWADE RIFTS : if the robot vehicle suffers a Wound the operator must make a Piloting check or it falls (this replaces the Out of Control rules) and suffers Xd6 damage, where X is the Size of the vehicle. I have put a question into PEG for what happens when the damage taken is between Toughness and Toughness+3 in RIFTS.

Gauis wrote: I believe, unlike soft, squishy hu-mans, vehicles do not get the Wound penalty. If you're talking about being Shaken : in Chases, SWADE says "Vehicles cannot be Shaken, but if damage equals or exceeds their Toughness (whether they take a Wound or not), the driver must make a maneuvering roll or go Out of Control (see page 119)". So if the vehicle is "Shaken" (damage between Toughness and Toughness+3), it does not have to recover from that condition, but must make an Out of Control roll. If you're talking about current Wounds affecting the Soak, since nothing in the Chase rules says current Wounds do not affect the Soak, standard rules apply, so subtract current Wounds from the Soak roll. Also, technically, vehicle Wounds cannot be Soaked at all unless the pilot has the Ace Edge.

Ami files another 8" and lands in front of the Red skelebot (map updated). First action : attack the skelebot with her sword. Two rolls of Fighting due to the Frenzy Edge; take the best 2 out of 3.
GM ST, you've already posted the skelebot's Toughness, how would you feel about posting their Parry so we can determine whether we've hit them or not, and whether or not to include the extra d6 damage from a Raise? Assuming the first 13 hits, she does
Assuming the second 13 hits, she does
Since you've said their Toughness is 17(7), it looks like my first attack would bring it down. So I would move 2" to the Dark Red skelebot and attack it with my second action.
Assuming the 21 hits, she does
Assuming the 11 hits, she does

Like Zhan, I'm giving all the gory details this time to help GM ST... Ami pauses to activate her innate powers : Activate Armor (Free, no roll) : +2 Toughness (hence Toughness=15) and ignores Gritty Damage
And with a powerful sweep of her wings, she flies 12" towards the enemy (map updated). 1 ISP spent (9 left)

My copy of SWADE, which is the latest release, says "The defender rolls next and must meet or exceed the first character’s result or the attacker wins." Don't throw your book out, Gauis, it's Zhan's book that's out-of-date.
Oh, also as part of the summary I left out :

I had the same problems re-logging in, mine was that my version of Firefox was too old. But an older version of Chrome is doing just fine for now... Regarding stacking, my impression of SW's attitude (from reading many discussions and rulings) is "if the bonus comes from different sources (magic, plain armor, tech, etc.)" the bonuses stack. If they come from the same source, they don't. So the Armor Power stacks with worn Armor, but two worn Armors don't stack, and casting Armor twice doesn't stack.

GM ST - have you considered how to "deal" initiative cards in a PbP? I know some GM's use on-line card-dealing websites (but I don't know where any of them are), but in the game I'm running I just have a physical deck of cards at home, and the players trust that I'm accurately reporting the results of the deals. FWIW, as a player I'm fine with that too.

Gauis wrote: Hey GM & ZenFox, does the Dirty Rotten Stinky Filthy Rich edge supersede the starting Money? I'm of a mind that it doesn't, as the edge itself needs intrinsic value, but usually it says "3x starting funds" The SWADE Edges say "N times starting funds", but the RIFTS version says you start with a "total" of N credits and so many rolls on the tables, so I would assume the N credits replaces the RIFTS standard "N*dice starting funds". But that's just an interpretation, GM ST can decide what to do. I checked the PEG forum, and found no definitive answer on this. So, now you have 10 points in Attributes, but you didn't drop Strength like you said you would, so if you do that would make it 9 points. But even if you recently dropped STR and AGI to buy something else, where did those 2 points originally come from, since you originally had 11 points of Attributes but only 9 points worth declared in your build? Or did I miss something? If you really had only 9 points declared, you can't just move 2 of the 11 Attribute points to something else, because they never existed.

Gauis - yours is a complicated build, please forgive me if I've missed something important in your description. Your base Toughness is 7, not 6, so while in your armor you have 17(6). You might want to include that in your "header" for when you're out of your vehicle. The cyber "Range Data Systems" says it requires the cyber Optics package, which you don't have. You add that its "ignore 2 points of Ranged penalties" also "stacks with Robot armor and Helmet targeting for a further -2 {-6 total}". The robot armor doesn't reduce ranged penalties. You have 11 points in Attributes. I see no bonuses in Robot Vehicle Ace, 1 point from an Advancement, 1 point from Hindrance Points (I think), 1 point from Cyber-Agility, and 1 point from Cyber-Strength (altho you note that it gives STR+2, but that means just +1 die type). With the initial 5, that's 9. If I'm understanding your notation correctly, you put your other 2 Hindrance points into Filthy Rich. Where did the other 2 points come from?

GM ST - I was thinking maybe you could pit us against some number of Power Armors, like the NG-X9 SAMSON for the mock combat? That would minimize your having to come up with dozens of stats for individual combatants. What info do you want in our "headers"? I've found that Parry and Toughness are essential during combat, and I've created something I call RATN ("Ranged Attack Target Number"), which is usually 4, but with all the special abilities our PCs have, it's easier to state your RATN as 6 rather than trying to remember that the PC is "-2 to ranged attacks". |
