The reasoning is time is saved, if people are away then you know what they're going to do. If I need to roll a search check for a certain area, that's fine, just tell me the squares covered by each check and it will be done.

Alizar takes a 5 ft step up, and re-strings the bow while grinding the remnants of the skeleton beneath his boot heel. He is in line with skeleton 6 now.

"So ancient bones, that sounds foreboding. This is the place though, that seal in the center, that flame, indicates this place as where Ekat Kassen, the towns namesake, is held. That battle with Vargas, both killing each other. Its the common story, heard of the double kill a few times, interested to see who actually did one.

Alizar states "there are many stories of snakes in the water, and this lake is a rich source of intrigue to the village. That being said, I will fill my waterskin first, least chance of being attacked."
Alizar approaches the water deftly, looking for signs of disturbance (ripples, etc). If safe, he fills the waterskin then backs away. Alizar is prepared for a sudden attack from the water, if possible.

Knowledge checks can't be made unless you have 1 rank or more in them, unless pathfinder is different. Also, would a sense motive learn anything of these wolves, akin to the nature check?

Intent is to not have any wolf within melee reach. Lucky for me, you can't fail skill checks on 1's, I just likely failed them anyway.

Damage-rapier-2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 1 = 6 with sneak attack.

With unbridled grace, Alizar rolls out of the bedroll and in the same rolling motion grabs his rapier, and stands up, ready for action.

Intent is to move silently and hide to behind the nearest wolf for some sneak attack action

"I will take the watch four hours after it begins, dead of night I suppose, I don't need sleep."

Alizar sits against a tree, looking over his weapons closely for damage. If any food is available, he will take a small amount, enough to sate his hunger.

"Jimes always said to take what you can, but I'm more reserved than he."

I'm inferring local knowledge of Mist Lake would let me know the significance of the stick figures.

"Such superstitions about the lake, if they work or not, who knows. Do you know the witch?"

Focusing on the orc as he attempts to hit, the orc appears odd for a moment but stays solid and real. "I'm not seeing anything unusual here.....wait a second, it's an outline, not real, neat."

"Why not just throw dust or something to carpet the area, if possible. It'll pass through the illusions, as you say, and maybe find someone hiding nearby, tracks, something."

Seeing the orcs react to Lianth's defeat of the orc, Alizar moves into a flanking position, if possible, or does a double move allowing him to be flanking.

As Alizar travels, he makes note of unique aspects of the trail, occasionally marking trees with Sylvan characters.

Would a needle and thread be standard? If so, Alizar offers to knit the map together, for ease. He will move half speed at times, focusing on knitting, taking 10 as needed.

Alizar is using his basic knowledge of the surrounding areas, which he has traveled often, as a basis for travel and familiarity. I don't know if there will be a bonus or DM fiat or no additional benefits; it's a background thing.
