Background information suggested, to be assimilated into the PC partially

Spoiler:
A little background information, seeing as every PC has something of a mentor and sponsor your has been the halfling Jimes "Short Change" Iggins. Kind and helpful and a diligent server at the local inn and tavern ("The Seven Silvers") he has sticky fingers. Notorious for tipping himself by giving back less change than a customer is due and occasionally making off with a dagger or other item that catches he has taught you a thing or two about being sneaky. While your character may use his lessons for less mischievious uses it's clear that the halfling sees this as less teaching you how to steal and be a criminal and more that a little petty theft is just fun. He seems to be a perfect mentor for you if you're going for the optimistic and chipper rogue.
Your attachment to Jimes has led you to occasionally get work at the inn and tavern. You can either be a ready fixture there or just occasionally living there when you tire of the streets. Personally I think the town is small enough that the owner, Trelvar Silvers has you working the stables and living in the loft (save for colder nights where he lets you sleep in the common room or the kitchen near a heat source) or perhaps working in the inn itself as a sometime server and all around helper. Regardless he'd be a good man who has treated you well despite having no relation to you. You would know that personal tragedy struck him recently, his wife died giving birth to his only son who died within the year following. With his daughter torn between taking over the business and moving to the city he has grown more and more withdrawn.
You would also know Trelvar Silvers daughter, Asina, who while only being 13 years old is already revealing herself to be the beauty her mother had been. She's a hard worker and has become quite the town gossip.
There are two prominant guests at the inn. One being Jocyn Elmaran, a bard and the town entertainer. He's kind of a live in 'guest' performing every night and living in one of the second floor rooms. He's pretty easy going despite a crippled leg earned in a fight with some orcs up north. The other man is Cygar, a stranger who has been staying in town for the past four months, he dresses in dark colors and keeps to himself but occasionally wanders the town.
Whew, anyway, does that seem like something you can work with? I've no qualms with you living in the streets but this seems like it would fit and Kassen is a small enough place and a tight knit community that someone would take you in in at least some capacity.
