Hey - congrats Jaye. Have a great time at GenCon. Crossing my fingers, I should be able to get there for the first time next year.

Sorry for the silence. I am actually really interested, I just need the time to sit down and read through the stuff. One child went to summer camp this weekend and the other goes for two weeks starting in two weeks. Hopefully this will give me more time.

The positive side of this is that I have more real work. Unfortunately, this has meant less time to read through and learn an entirely new system. I really want to try out Rhune and put a character together, it is just taking more time than I thought.

Just as an FYI, this is not the only campaign I have having this issue with. I had a character die in another campaign and have been unable to figure out what to replace him with, and that has been two weeks and is entirely in Golarian where I already know the land, classes and races.

If you still want to DM us, I should be able to get into this over then next few nights - finger's crossed.

Alexa looks at the nest, but does not really know what it is. Nonetheless, she continues to watch the shore to see if there is anything there or if there are any tracks or other sign of what might live in the next.

Alexa looks over at Madeline:
A big crocodile. Common in this area. Might be big enough to swallow you whole, most are only big enough to just take an arm or leg off though.

Alexa stays behind and allows Vaghn to be the social face of the group. With the mention of a giant croc, her eyes open somewhat.

Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 <-- are such crocs common to the area?

Alexa simply looks about attempting to see anything of note in the town. She is specifically looking to see what the folk here do for a living and for any people who appear to be in charge or look like they are out of place.

She will also look for anyone that appears to be better dressed than the rest of the crowd.

Heh - considering that Valen and I missed the funeral the first time, it would be good to have a second chance.

Sounds good, I do not think I am going to get any farther. I will ask Vaghn to see if he can ask around about anyone at the university or in town who prefers exotic Qadiran silk clothes, especially green. But, this will wait for when we are back from Morast.

No response to my inquiry about anyone at the university wearing fancy silk clothes?

Alexa shrugs:
I have no skills in this area, but I understand that some diviners can locate people with a piece of clothing or hair or something like that.

Alexa thinks for a moment then points at the fabric on the window.

You are sure that the Beast was not wearing an expensive green silk robe when he broke in here? Correct?

Because if I am not mistaken, the green fabric on the window is silk, most likely Qadiran, not something that one sees in Ustalav every day. Thus, either the Beast was wearing exotic fabric when he decided to break in here, or someone, or something, else was wearing green silk and is the person who should be sought out.

Alexa moves over and carefully examines the green fabric on the window. She then turns and looks at the Doctor:

Doctor, are there any professors or others at the university that come from far to the south? Perhaps Osirion? Sargava? Or even Qadira?

Or anyone else about the city you have seen who might be from that part of the world?

Alexa carefully watches the Doctor's reaction as he answers this inquiry.

Alexa walks over and carefully examines the green fabric on the window.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 <-- specifically trying to determine what type of fabric it is to possibly ascertain the source of the fabric (a particular taylor, seamstress, or store - perhaps some religious group or something similar)

She then turns to Dr. Crowl.
Unless someone took off a green shirt, I am afraid that someone other than the beast broke and opened this window. The beast was not wearing any green shirt or pants to the best of my knowledge and clearly whoever opened this window left some green fabric behind, most likely from their sleeve.

Do you know of anyone in the University who prefers such green clothing?

Alexa looks at Dr. Crowl:
What clothing, if any, was the beast wearing when it was caught? Specifically, what color clothing?

Alexa nods at Valen's comment.
Yes, where would the effigy be if the Beast did not take it? If must have been taken by someone else. Perhaps it was taken before the beast ever arrived. Perhaps some magic was used to ward this part of the room to keep the beast from attacking it which is why it is undisturbed while the rest of the room was destroyed.

As Alexa looks around the room, she begins to frown.
How would the golem have gotten in here? There is no way it fit in through that window. Also, what is that green cloth on the window? In addition, does anyone else smell beeswax? Finally, does anyone know why there is a small bell on the door handle? Or what that broken silver wire is beneath the bell?

Alexa looks about the room trying to determine whether there is any sign of the Beast actually entering. Is the broken window large enough to allow the beast to enter? Is there a sign of anything else other than the Beast?

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32

Alexa will also use her Spirit Sense to see whether there is an sign of undead being in the area.

Alexa stands back as she watches the interaction between the Beast and Vaghn.
Yes, we shall resolve this. We have seen much evil done and frequently it has used unwitting servants. We shall see to it that the truth of this matter is uncovered and the unnatural evil that is assuredly behind this is revealed.

Alexa frowns at Valen's comment:
Perhaps part of the problem is that everyone is calling him the "Beast".

Alexa looks through the bars.
Do you have a name? Did your creator give you a name? And, who is your creator? I am Alexa, a druid who reveres nature. You do not appear to be a creation of nature, but rather a creation of magic. However, you seem to have a good heart which is more than I can say for many creatures of the wild.

Alexa looks to the others:
Valen or Vaghn, either of you ever seen one of these? It looks like something created by a mage of some sort. I know it is not natural, obviously. And does not appear to be undead, unlike so much else in this land.

Alexa scratches her head, unsure of whether she has ever heard of such a creature.

I can take the form of a fast bird and get there quickly. But that might not help you all. I think purchasing horses for the rest of you might be advisable.

Hmmm, last time a character of mine was in a courthouse, one of the players (playing an ogre) went nuts and accidentally killed an old NPC paladin. . . . Lets see if we can top that.

Yeh, I figure that with my high wisdom, I know right from wrong, but with the low charisma, I just do not know how to express it.

No problem, fortunately with a +13 Perception, I should be able to catch people most of the time as I do not think that anyone has an Init close to that.

Courthouse is fine. Alexa will let the more charismatic members of the party talk, but will be prepared to kick anyone in the shin should they start to reveal secrets regarding the magistrate or anything else we do not want said. She is not a great orator, but she is very good at reading people and knowing when NOT to say something.

Not sure how RGM would play this. In a tabletop game, I could just kick someone under the table or give them a dirty look, with pbp it is a little more difficult to stop someone in mid-phrase. I guess, just assume that I would attempt to cut anyone off who began to mention the magistrate or any other secret we are suppose to keep.

Y'know, I seem to recall us having a conversation a little while back about the feasability of all this. As far as I'm concerned, I've said my peace regarding your character's build, so it's all up to what RGM wants now.

Alexa begins to giggle at Vaghn's comment:

Where would you get stuff for a gun in Ustalav? I thought that most guns came from Alkenstar which is thousands of miles to the south.

Alexa cocks her eyebrow at the magister's comment:
Is this city so unsafe that we should deposit our money with the Abadarians? Really, I just think that after several days on the road and more than a few attacks from dark forces, that my companions would like a soft bed in a hotel unlikely to be invaded by forces beholden to the Whispering Tyrant.

People really need to read before they post. RGM has said this several times and now if we post without paying attention to what has already happened, especially a few posts earlier, we will pay the consequences.

Alexa continues to distrust the magistrate, but will follow the lead of her companions.

Alexa looks back at the magistrate, her suspicions raised:
What are your wards for? To keep things out? Or to protect what is within?

Still unsure of the magistrate and unwilling to trust much of anyone after all the strange going ons, Alexa steps back and allows her sight to change from the visual to the ability to sense unusual spirits as the others speak.

Use Spirit Sense and then scan the room and the magistrate.

Alexa looks confused:
What is the Manual of the Order of the Palatine Eye? Why is this particular book of great importance to you? Is this something that followers of the Whispering Tyrant might be interested in?

Alexa looks over and nods to Vaghn before looking at the others.
We seem to work well as a team. I am more interested in what happens outside the walls of towns than within. However, considering the unnatural taint of undeath and evil we have faced to this point. I am sure that the sudden capture of this Beast is no mere fluke and whatever evil is afoot will eventually affect the wild as well. If you all wish to aid the magistrate, I will remain within the walls of this town and help you all.

Alexa looks confused at the sudden change of the discussion:
I believe the spirits have been permanently put to rest. Although with the Whispering Tyrant's resting place not far to the south, who know what else undead might stir.

However, you speak of this Beast. What is it? What reputation? Where is it being kept if it is to be put on trial? And if it is a Beast, why would the laws of Lepidstadt allow a trial?

Alexa raises her eyebrows:
What sort of problems did you hear of?

Cringing internally as Vaghn simply explains everything without even verifying if this is the right person, Alexa stays back and attempts to carefully watch the Magistrate's facial expressions to see if she can pick up any read on the woman, good or bad.

Despite not being the best with social interaction, Alexa steps forward.
M'Lady, I apologize if I do not know your protocol, I am more comfortable with trees and animals. However, we were asked by Prof . . our patron, to deliver certain items to a Professor Da . . . Dal . . .Dadarimiid. Alexa quite successfully massacres the professor's name. Would you be she? Or know where we might find her?
