Sorry about the possible confusion, but after talking over with Shawn I am changing my mind. We can take its stuff, but the coffin should stay where it is. Oh second thought, it is more respectful to leave the dead as they are. Profiting off a body or its resting container? Smells like bad karma and bad money.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Seems as if it would have been worth that scroll after all. Well done everyone! Unless I am mistaken its 150 gold for the mask pendant set and over seventeen hundred for the second most magical cat in the room. A loud little fella for sure. Now, can we get this sarcophagus out of here and back into town without damaging it and the body inside? Between this and the chariot, this is the second thing we can't just lug back to town by hand. I have a mule and some rope but I will invest in a cart and some more mules to help us deal with these large hauls. Do we want to strip it of the gold, risk dragging it back as we are or go back into town and get something. I'd vote for trying to drag it back but the invisable Div will make a difficult task even harder.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Visibly relieved that Bambara is OK, I follow Chui back into the room. Clutch save there, a marvelous mustering of magical might. When we get back into town I will have to grab a scroll of dispel magic. I start looking over the coffin and start thinking out loud. Without a way to get rid of a magical effect the options were to take the gems and the and gold on the surface, drag it back to town unopened, or open it and hope for the best. I hate leaving stones unturned and bringing it into town as a potential threat is also a bad idea. Thanks to Miss Wakestep, it worked out this time. I snap out of my inner debate. But that's just under 500 gold pieces, let us see if the lord in repose is worth that. I would hope that he was a nice person in life and the Lady would look well upon him, its a shame we didn't find his library though.

Would the frightened condition give him the idea to open the door of the crypt even though there is an enemy on the other side? This is one of the few cases were I think an Int of 5 would come into play. Alex would assume he would. I am going to try to convince a frightened plantman to go and hide in the unfinished northwest section of this tomb. If I need to make a roll tell. Oh no, if he lets the div in this could get very messy. And if he gets out and he runs around, who knows what could happen? Fear effect on the coffin. Bambara, don't go outside. Run down the hall and hide!
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Right right post discussions in the discussion tab. I rolled a bluff to make an excuse for Alex to watch Chui work. It is not being entirely truthful. I will make my intentions more clear. The point was to blend of bit of mechanics into the narrative, being that I will fake it until I make it. This isn't going to turn into me lying to the group all the time or withholding information. Nothing harmful at all. If Chui or anyone else wants me to get back I won't argue.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
I should back away, but I want to watch Chui work. Well, if its necromatic magic, then it will probably just effect you. If that's the case, you'll need me with you. :
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 I know that I've given you my character sheet but I'm going to move 1 of my points from spellcraft to disable devise for 2 reasons. First, having a point of DD lets me assist Chui if he needs help or if there are 2 devises that need disabling simultaneously. Unlikely, but I have seen it before. Second, if Chui is out of it for some reason someone will need to fill in. Its not a skill I will keep up with, but a point here and there might get out out of a jam.

I am unable to see into or enter the room. Also thanks for the suggestion in your email. I do have a question. In my backstory it mentions that I worked with the Pathfinders and went on smuggling missions. Given that experience, would I be able to purchase a Pathfinder Pouch? While it is unlikely that guards or the priests would ever need to search us, it is a cheap storage option and if the need arises it is very nice to have it. A sneaky wizard bag. Unable to contain my curiosity, I attempt to peek into the the room. Sealed for centuries and now...oh. I does look like father's room. A flash of anger mixed with the look of someone who has bitten into a rotten lemon crosses my face.

I will absolutely be getting magic capital during my downtime, that is for sure. As for the stuff I am getting I do want to see how much gold we get out of this but I am thinking on getting a scroll of haste, a potion of eagle's splendor, and a potion of barkskin in that order. I might also pick up a few more things from Ultimate Equipment that I have on the rest of my characters such as smelling salts, padzahr, universal solvent, twitch tonic, ect. We can go without a slush fund, I'd even argue that for now we should. If any of us go down for a while, we are not getting back up. I haven't seen talk about a Weakened Soul debuff for a cheap rez option and I don't think I would use that option if there was. Just keep everyone posted on purchases and available gold and we should be fine.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Pbps can be slow and coming to committee decisions will take time. If any of us see that someone really needs something, we can throw money down to help out that’s true. However, the slush fun isn’t there for buying items, it’s there for emergencies. There have been times when the gold from a slush fund has kept party members in the game. It doesn’t need to buy the whole rez, it is there to help lower the cost for everyone. We are always going to be buying items, and the risk of all of us being low on gold is possible if we are not careful. Slush funds are going to draw us behind a bit on the “gold curve”, but having to sell items to get rid of stat drain or help with a rez is crippling. We are going to be crafting lots of stuff so this lets us skirt around this money problem a bit, but we all need to make sure we are keeping a vague idea of what we are buying and how much cash we all have on hand. With a bit of coordination, it can work. So with all of that, I am thinking it might be a good idea with just grabbing masterwork stuff now and enchanting it later. I will grab a potion or two and a scroll, then I will be banking the rest. I will not be under 1500g when we go to our next location.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Not that I won’t be buying things mind you, but all the stuff I want is a bit farther down the road. I need my rods and a staff and a nice robe but that is all very expensive. Our immediate need is the melee. Keeping you two as threatening as possible gives me the space I will need to cast. In that way, I’m investing in my own safety.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
1500 gp here, I haven’t bought anything. I like the idea of a group fund and can put at least half of this into important things like potions and scrolls. Maybe a headband of intellect for Bambara, who knows. Strapping up a melee line full of gear is very important for the blaster caster master if she wants to effectively do her job so let’s figue out a wish list. Specially what do we want? What do we need? How much is this going to cost us? After that we can add our haul from today and we can hit the market in the evening. I like the idea of getting a cold iron weapon but maybe instead of a silver weapon we could try and get something enchanted. It might be time to think about incorporeal things.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
I believe so yes, in 20 minutes you are going to feel like absolute garbage but we are close to town so its not that bad. Lets take a quick peek in the other room and see what's in there. Hopefully, its sweet loot. Then, ideally, we leave and get you un-diseased and me uncursed. A good day. As a side note, I wish I could cast remove sickness right about now.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
After looking around I point north. That hallway up there is unfinished, construction must have stopped when the house was overrun. Don’t think there is anything in those alcoves, but feel free to check my work. Even thier wealth couldn’t keep them safe forever. Hmm, this reminds me of father’s guest rooms, and if my hunch is correct, those doors lead to the ‘master bedroom’ so to speak.

Harmini Wakestep wrote:
That is an excellent point. I didn't add enough internal debate on why I was doing this and it could come across as heartless and cold, but that was not the intention. Its not something that I want to do but someone needs to be in it to keep the swarm from moving around and Chui needs to get out right meow. Having the swarm follow him up the room and getting a bunch of us could go very poorly. Chui is acting weird and with him getting mauled by some very sick looking cats, I think it would be a reasonable assumption that they are diseased and this plays into Bambara's strengths with his amazing fort saves. I wouldn't ask you to do something if I didn't know you could do it.
He's got the HP to tank it for a round then we can just kite the swarm around this area once Chui isn't an unlucky roll away from a cat nap.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
I have 1 cure light wounds left. So I'm thinking that it might be time to give someone else a chance to tank that swarm damage. I could ready an action to cast my last cure light wounds and deliver it to you when you run by. You will get a chance to act before the swarm will damage you so just run up here get some sweet healing. Moving myself over there to heal you and have us both be swarmed might get messy. Bambara, sartu hara Chui-ren ihes egiteko. I begin casting cure light wounds and holding it until Chui is near me. Chui, time for a 'catical' retreat!
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Why would Chui need armor for his dance partners? Maybe its a Catfolk thing? I splashed the square that is currently to my token’s southwest and I believe alchemist fire will light the oil. I’ll be there in a second, but maybe you should just toss that fire and move away. Maybe we can kite it around?
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
OMG a swarm of undead cats! That sounds amazing, its like a little Chui fanclub. I move past Bambara to get into the room and create some space to avoid getting caught all at once. Once I get into the room, I dig around my bag and find a flask of oil. I don't know how to feel now, its so cute and so terrifying at the same time. I almost want one if it wouldn't kill me in my sleep. For gods' sake Chui, get rid of your nip!
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Squeezing the slack of my sleeve like a worrystone, I take a look down the long dark hallway and get chills. This basement is unreasonably spooky, I've been in cemeteries with more cheer than this. We've dealt with the mummy, lets be careful we don't stumble into the daddy. I awkwardly laugh at my own joke for a second. Bad joke, sorry.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
I move up to join Chui, cautiously looking around. This this place gives me the hebbie-jebbies. When I go to the boneyard, just put me in a pine box and be done with it. My eyes get wide and I nervously look around above me while casting detect magic. Not that I’m asking anyone to expedite that process mind you. I’m good.

Chaos is is just the breeding ground for discontent and voluminous villainy, ol' chum. But seeking to right ourselves and set others on the path towards justice we can become rightous and perhaps more importantly, true citizens of our world. Take hold of these lessons Bambara. As far as my alignment goes, I'm going to just play a good character. I know that my alignment says neutral but that makes no sense given the personality I want to play with. I need neutral good. The old Batman did supersede the law when he felt he needed to, such as the episode "Louie the Lilac"(I have been watching the shows) when Batman came to the aid of "flower children" who were being kidnapped by The Lilac and the cops didn't want to look into it. Even when the law didn't care, Batman did. In the Vietnam era that this show was taped in having Batman, the symbol of moral authority and law and order for kids falling on the side of hippies over the traditional views of the state is kind of cool and I do want to incorporate that sense of righteousness and deadpan corniness.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Hah! As the last few minutes has shown, my intelligence is questionable at best. I’m glad we have reached an understanding. Perhaps I overreacted. My hunger gets the better of me when I get stressed. I get out a trail ration and eat it, embarrassed by my constant need.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
Have they been struggling? Have they really? To me it seems like they are sending mostly unqualified idiots to blindly stumble around ancient powers they can’t control or comprehend. The whole situation is a disaster waiting to happen. Where are the guards, where are the men trained in fighting these creatures? Too expensive maybe? How about giving the groups that are going in to a city with known enemies a book filled with information on what they are and how to deal with them? That alone could prevent what just happened here and save a few lives. But they don’t because they don’t know what they are doing. All of their efforts are filled with endless incompetence. I straighten up a bit. I could fix this city and save these people if not from the undead then from thier leaders that do next to nothing. You say that you are surprised that I would find the creature that I was sent to find here but that is a misrepresentation of my statement. Whether it be an ancient urn filled with dark power from beyond the tapestry or an ooze the reconstructs you into helmets with a touch I will study everything that I find that is dangerous and spread that knowledge for those that come after me, both for thier safety and my gain. I’m disappointed that you see the value in strange tomes but not in the powers of strange creatures. You put yourself at a disadvantage. I will not.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
You are incorrect. Slavery is selling a person to another entity so that they can work without pay. What you described is called imprisonment and its also been that way for thousands of years. While we are indeed a long way from Absalom, its agents are...never that far away and I can assure you they they will take unique creatures and dangerous creatures for this purpose. These beings are not innocent, these creatures are not good and if they see a citizen of this city they will not hesitate to kill them or worse. If you believe that I am wrong in this you are a fool. They all will get what they deserve. I look at the piece of jerky in my hand and fling it to the ground ashamed at my reliance on it. It doesn't bother me that these things are dead, they are dangerous. But if I want to take a creature alive because I could see some good that could come out of that, monetarily of otherwise, I fail to see how that is worse that letting it die on the floor while we watch. I look at Bambara for a moment before continuing. As for my reasoning for being here, like it is any of your business, it does in part come from wanted to help Bambara with his curse. His many lives has created a odd interaction that makes his curse resistant to removals. I wish to learn why so I can reverse it. But even before that I set myself toward this city because I could not believe what I saw. Wati is a broken place. Its administrators cower behind their wall while this sore festers, waiting for the right moment to burst. It may already be too late... Instead of calling for aid or mounting a cleansing campaign, they send sell-swords and charlatans to loot its own treasure to line there pockets. And I am one of those charlatans. The treasure and fame that will allow me the cloat I need to govern these misguided people. I look back at Harmini. Altruism, no, but I do what I do so I can save this city and my friend. That is what makes me who I am. That is what separates me from you. I don't need or want judgment from you, I already get enough of that every time you look at me. I allow those glaring looks because I don't care and you are a means to my end as I am sure I am a means to yours.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
I pat Bambara on the head. Have I told you about that people I work with? Well, there is a city far away from here called Absalom and in this city there is a great magical menagerie. In this place there are amazing creatures, some even more intelligent than all of us put together. These creatures are kept there so that we can learn from them and they can't hurt others. As for the sand lady...there are people who wield arcane magics and they bind those types of elemental creatures to them all the time. I start to walk away then I turn around and continue. And speaking of that sand lady I remember getting a lot of shit when I stabilized her. I also remember some lady beating her to death with the butt of a crossbow. And you know what Harmini, you were right. Our encounter with Imanish has showed me that trying to talk to something that attacks you is a stupid idea. If we let any of those things live, they will attack and kill the next person that they find. Tell me I'm wrong. I point at the fallen creature that would have killed all 4 of us if it had the power to do so. That's why that this is dead. You were right. No enslavement, even though that's not what I was ever talking about, we will end threats. This city will be purged of these threats so that its people can live in peace.
F Aasimar Dragon Mystery Oracle
I slide my arms around Bambara and give him a little squeeze. Oh come on Bam, I know you're still upset. He did what he had to do to bring that creature down. I can't make you be OK with this, I know that fire is your least favorite thing in the world, but I'm asking you to be OK with Chui. We are all in this together. I'd like to see you shake on it, but I will not make you. |
