Alec is a young man of middling height, hovering just around six feet. He has dark, sooty brown hair and ruddy colored skin, which has started to pale from his extended period of time in orbit. His hair is jaggedly cut, and worn jaw-length, often falling into his gray-green eyes.

Alec is handsome by many measures--he has a strong jaw, high cheekbones, an aquiline nose and thin lips. However, he rarely pays more attention to his appearance than he does to his work. As a result, he usually goes unshaven, with three or four days' worth of scruffy stubble on his cheeks and chin, and there is often a smudge of grease on his face, hands or arms. The smell of machine oil, ozone and gunpowder seems to hover around him almost constantly.

Despite his handsome face, Alec's body leaves much to be desired, and it shows. His arms, shoulders and chest are slender and scrawny, and he has what can only be described as 'chicken legs'.

When relaxing in his quarters, Alec often wears simple t-shirts, jeans and sneakers. In the garage or hangar, when he is working on Mikhail's mech Ajax, he favors a green flight suit removed to the waist, combat boots and a sleeveless white shirt with a blue baseball cap. In combat or on field missions, Alec wears a padded flight suit and a combat helmet.

Alec Dean MacGregor was born at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washingon on October 29th, 2009. Three days later, with his parents under crushing economic duress, he was taken to an orphanage in Wenatchee and left on the doorstep in the middle of the night. In the tough financial climate of the time, few people bothered adopting children. Alec, however, proved that he did not need to be adopted to get by. By the age of nine he had graduated from junior high. By twelve, high school. And by sixteen he had graduated summa cum laude from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Despite his incredible advancements and genius intellect, however, Alec was not satisfied. He felt feelings of abandonment and hopelessness. His parents had left him behind, and nobody had wanted to take him in. He watched the news and saw only grief, poverty and despair. He walked the streets and saw only the rising homeless percentage and the increasing level of violence. He wondered if he could turn his love of machinery and technology towards a better future for mankind, a better life than he had been offered.

At eighteen years old, Alec joined the United States military. Because of his frail body and weak constitution he only just made it through boot camp, but his incredible intellect allowed him to excel in the field. As an army engineer, he was sent to an Armored Infantry Division where he was paired with Achilles pilot Mikhail Manougian and placed in charge of his assault suit. The two became fast friends, and quickly developed a rhythm to their work on and off the field, performing live fire exercises and learning how to operate the Achilles.

A year later, once the live-fire lessons were at an end, Mikhail and Alec were immediately offered positions in a special combat peacekeeping division codenamed: Iliad. With Mikhail piloting his Achilles, codenamed Ajax, Alec, codenamed Teucer, provided field repairs, suppressing fire, basic scouting and field reconnaissance. It wasn't long before the two of them were at the top of their class.

By 2032, Alec was growing restless--his desire was to help mankind, and he felt he wasn't doing so by maintaining a war machine. It was during that time that he and Mikhail were approached by the United Nations Space Force, as well as the United Nations Special Operations--as one of the greatest Achilles pilots and the most promising mechanical minds walking the slowly degenerating Earth, they seemed to have earned their place aboard a frozen vessel of redemption, far off among the stars.

Alec's adventure has only just begun...

Alec tends to hold himself somewhat aloof--not arrogant, precisely, but he often has several things occupying his mind at once, which lends him an air of being distracted, or not paying attention. Nevertheless, he is almost always very friendly, greeting people with a smile and a tip of his baseball cap. He tends to enjoy conversation--machines are his favorite topic (no surprises there), though he also enjoys subjects as diverse as baseball, music, literature, art and sciences. Talking with others while he works seems to help focus him, and softens that aloof exterior, making him seem more amicable.

He has a quick-witted, smarmy, sarcastic sense of humor, a dry wit that is either charming and adorable or absolutely intolerable, depending upon how patient and / or drunk the listener is. This wit is an eclectic mix of good-natured or sharp-tongued put-downs (depending on how much he likes the individual), self-deprecating humor (he figures he's his own best target) and pop culture references (Michelangelo, after all, was a party dude). While he may be making jokes and cracking wise in the midst of tense situations and high-risk combat, it is easy to see that this is Alec's method of dealing with many of his personal failings--his lack of physical strength, his failings with women, his abandonment by his parents and subsequent inability to find a foster family. Though he wears many mask--playful, witty, sharp, outrageously flirtatious--in the end, Alec is simply a warm and caring man who places the well-being of Zaviera, Mikhail and Jacquelin above anything else. They are more than his squad. They are his friends.

Perhaps due to some strange eccentricity, perhaps because of some peculiar un-confronted past issue or simply because of insomnia, Alec doesn't sleep well. It is not uncommon for other members of the crew, should they wander the halls at night, to hear the sound of puttering coming from his garage as he optimizes the Ajax or simply fine-tunes his own weaponry. Should anyone come upon him in such a vulnerable state, with dark rings under his eyes and a haunted expression on his face, he will often smile and offer them a cup of coffee (or a shot of whiskey, if they prefer) and a few hours' conversation.

Considering himself an amateur linguist, Alec absolutely devours books of language. To date, he is fluent in French, German, Russian, Spanish (his favorite dialect is Galician) and Portugese. When it comes to music, he favors classic jazz, big band and swing, and his favorite movie before being brought aboard and frozen was 'Romancing the Stone'.
