Alcalde throws another largest-feasible rock at Razogen Rock To-Hit, touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Alcalde vows to hit the field targets again when he has some time, and instead lays his hands on the biggest rock he can find, hurling it down upon the javelin-throwing offender. Rock To-Hit, touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

No change from last time, it looks like. Still shooting the wounded goblin Alcalde frowns and mutters to himself as he nocks another arrow and lets fly. "Hmpf, must've misjudged the wind on that last one..." To Hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Alcalde follows close on Zordlon's heels and lets fly at the nearest goblin (as well, assuming it's still up). To Hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

I have a shortbow. We pulled the rope up, right? I assume then that think they wouldn't have seen it on the way in. "The rope above can be an escape plan for us just as it was for our foes. But we'll be cut off from it if we fight them here. This is a castle, so let us use it! Shoot them from the battlements while one or two of us hold the ground floor, or stairs. If they do manage to breach the door, we can hold them at the second floor stairs while the rest of us arrange to retreat or drop down and hit them from behind!" I can tank or archer - but my Dex is pretty good so maybe our Dwarf NPC should be the canary on the ground floor?

So, to be clear, they're building a fire at the (wooden) ground-level door of this (stone?) tower? Is this the room that had the bedsheet escape rope? Alcalde shakes his head a couple of times to clear the grogginess, unlimbers his shortbow, and heads over to peek out the tower door. "Does anyone have something we can use to spike the tower door while we fight them from the battlements?"
Male Human Swashbuckler (Mys. Avenger) 1 | HP: 9/13 | AC: 19 (Tch 15, Fl 14) | CMD: 17 | F: +3, R: +6, W: +0 | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, Cond: None

Alcalde winces as he is clipped by a few of the smaller stones, but scrambles over the rest them to the top of the stairs. Rapier in hand, he lunges at the other bandit. Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Male Human Swashbuckler (Mys. Avenger) 1 | HP: 9/13 | AC: 19 (Tch 15, Fl 14) | CMD: 17 | F: +3, R: +6, W: +0 | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, Cond: None
Wheee. And, back. Also, flintlocks sound cool. I'd like to try that. I suppose if it's dim enough that Alcalde would have his lantern out and lit Alcalde does his best to dodge the torrent of stones and push up the stairs to engage the new foes... Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 ... but his best clearly isn't good for much. Can I attack from the square I'm in or do I need to occupy a square in the room, on the other side of Rowbin?

The Chuck Show seems OK so far. The suits upstairs tell us that people can't follow plots when they keep adding characters to the mix, anyway. Alcalde acknowledges the former captives with a nod. Rowbin, Reithic. Well met - or as well as possible under the circumstances! It seems like we all have a common goal, for now. Any help in clearing this keep of its loathsome occupants would be most welcome. We dropped one of the scum before finding you, but he put up a mighty struggle. We've seen only one other, who just now fled to the upper levels. I hope that the worst is over, but we cannot say for certain. Do the two of you recall how many were in the parties that waylaid you? Does anyone speak Goblin?

I might just switch into that armor. And maybe one of us should try the bandit's flail. They're obviously magical. Alcalde straightens as Nibb's healing magic wipes away not only his wound but the pain and fatigue as well. He nods to Nibb in thanks, "Nicely done, frien..." but cuts off mid-sentence as shouts drift up the stairs from below.
Upon seeing the cell and its occupants, Alcalde takes a look at the bars, sparing quick glances back at the captives and their restraints.

Alcalde lets his mind go blank, slipping easily back into well-practiced forms, and ignoring lingering apprehensions about the staircase to focus on timing his attacks with his teammates'. Rapier(+flank): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Alcalde moved slowly along the crumbling wall toward the watchtower door, whip at the ready in his hand. "Agreed, the tower is or best place to start. Shall we?" Alcalde investigated the door for signs of traps or other tampering.

Assuming our little lookaround didn't turn up any better way in, I'm inclined to approach the gate and see what we're dealing with there. Laying an ambush, we definitely meet a group. Here, we may have some element of surprise.

If it scales OK, it's probably fine to be down a player for now. Come 2nd level, whip spec provokes so many AoOs I was kind of counting on having a second decent melee partner

Is our Slayer companion with us? Alcalde strides briskly past Nibb and Skorl as the keep comes into view. A mischievous grin touches the corners of his eyes as he glances behind him, "Ha, a motley army we make.. but I shall be honored to march as its vanguard!" Alcalde turns back to regard the ruin. "Poor housekeeping. And little more hospitality; we've come all this way and there's no one to greet us. Shall we let ourselves in, or take a quick peek 'round the grounds first?" Do we know the approximate frequency of bandit raids? Is it reasonable to lay an ambush and catch a party coming or returning within a day or two?

Alcalde heads into Roots and Remedies, curious to observe a little more. On his last visit, brief as it was, the people he encountered were uniformly work-weary, and human. These two were clearly neither. The townsfolk seemed to pay them no mind, and yet... Alcalde could not be sure he glimpsed a bulging pouch at the gnome's belt - it was hard to discern anything with certainty from the blur of fur and feathers that passed him by. But he picked up his pace to follow her and hoped he was right. The idea that such a strange character was party to the LC "company store" struck him as absurd. Could R&R's owner then be one of the few shopkeepers not wholly under Kreed's thumb? A brief detour was definitely in order.

A masked stranger strides into town. His clothing is dark, from head to toe, with a brimmed hat and mask so that only his eyes are exposed. Closer examination shows that under his loose outer shirt is darkly enameled mail, and he moves easily despite its weight. A rapier and bullwhip hang at his belt. Knowledge(local) (untrained):: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Since there's no grid map and a ton of my abilities are interrupts, let's get some ground rules down to speed things up:
