Hey, it wasn't my idea to use the remains of the last Champion of Fire as armor!
Arielle wrote: "So...you think I'm being unreasonable?" Yes.
Aidan slides in among his illusions, flicking little bits of silver fire at any opening he can find, be it and open mouth or one of the unblinking eyes..
BluePigeon wrote: Aiden's Attempt to bewilder the beast only enrages it more. He surmises a more forward attack would be helpful. Seeing his blades fail, Aidan out an illusion powered by moonfire, causing warriors fully clad in steel armor to heckle the serpent with longspears that feel real.
Tristan the Waif wrote: Grasping Little Kiba's fur with one hand, and extends the other hand. Tristan concentrates then fires a bolt of blue energy at the ethereal serpent and strikes it in its mid-section. The entwined creatures lurches at the impact stops and turns to face the wolf and it rider. It begins to grow in size.
As Arielle and Devlyn catches up to the others, she too see the serpent growing larger. Angry, it's poised to attack!
Small silver crescents begin to fly past the serpent, and those who look see Aidan is throwing them. They pass around his friends at fly close to the snake... but each one misses by the smallest of margins. After they miss, they reappear in Aidan's hand to be thrown again.
Since I doubt normal silver is going to hurt it, this is a distraction. Now everyone sneak attack the dang thing! ;)
Arielle wrote: Arielle examines the goo, her green eyes wide. "Well, this is new. I've never seen anything like this before. I think it's probably from someplace my mom wouldn't let me go. It's all....oh, what's that word? I don't know. But it's not something friendly, that's for certain."
"This place feels like it's moving. It's like a kite being pulled along by the wind. We don't have long."
"That's a nice way to put it. Since the boundaries of the Abyss are most likely not on your list of safe places, we should hurry and get that gem."
"Tristan, any chance you may know where it is?"
Sytt, Lesser Yugoloth wrote: Tristan the Waif wrote: :::Uncle Solmyr, anyone, someone, make that snake go away!::: Syt looks angry for a moment, then changes his face into an even more unpleasant smile. "Kid, right now I'm on your side. That could change."
He turns to stare at the others. "Don't say I didn't try to warn you. The Servants just got something that could tip the scales, and we just lost a few allies we could need. Beware of the deep and shadow, for they are no longer your friends." His simpering look changes into a malicious smirk. "I'll be watching." He vanishes. "Anyone else suddenly want a snake-skin belt? What did him mean by 'Beware the deep and shadows'?"
the Deep = reference to deep ocean?
Solmyr of the Azure Flame wrote: If you need any help with this Okoyo. May I be of assistance? "If need be, I can distract the people after him while you make your way to Tristan's house. Shouldn't be a problem if we move quickly."
Arielle wrote: "Oh. I know how that goes. Yeah. We should definitely hurry. The people trying to kill you are complicated enough, but the worshippers," she added wrinkling her nose with distaste. "They're so annoying." "So true it's not even funny, huh?"
*pulls out bird whistle, uses it*
The Dalesman wrote: "Who or what is the 'Okoyo'?" Oroth begins to speak, but Aidan holds up a hand to stop him.
"Okoyo means 'Bringer of Fire.' There are two groups of people after him, those who would worship him for the power he no longer has, and those who would destroy him for the same reason. Either way, we need to hurry this little meeting along and finish this preistess off so Tristan can be safe."
Oroth Sunschild wrote: "Okoyo" Aidan grimaces, and mumbles something under his breath.
Because he keeps forgetting that Devlyn is Cat-man, but remembers that Allura can read minds!
"Should have stayed in the Grove..."
The Dalesman wrote: Devlyn deftly grabs the blade and tosses it back to Erus before he vanishes.
"With such a generous return policy as that (and the well-known vagaries of the adventuring lifestyle), I think I'll have to pass on the loaner," Devlyn says with a grin. "I appreciate the thought though - good luck with whatever just came up."
"Probably not a good idea to have kept it anyway."
Erusin wrote: "Very well. But if you ever expected any friendship to form of this, then the Goddess's servants are more delusional than we thought. Aidans rolls his as he thinks to himself "And there he goes degrading us again. Jerk."
"Fine by me Devlyn."
He walks back the chariot and begins muttering to Brightwing, who seems to snort and agree with whatever he is saying.
"Some other time then."
And I'm done until BP gets back.
"Do you wish to prove we underestimate you? I'm sure we can arrange a sparring match after this is over. Wouldn't you like challenge the former Champion of Fire?"
.... wrote: Arielle wrote: Erus's men cry out in outrage and their hands go to their swords. Erus puts up a hand. "Save your energy." The men still look furious, but comply. Erus takes a step towards Arielle. "Now, you look here, young lady. Perhaps your parents let you get away with anything, back home. But you are not home. You and your friends are surrounded by my men. They are not the incompetents you fought before. So you will stop acting like a spoiled brat and show respect." He glares, and turns back to the wizard. A tiny stream of silver fire strikes Erus in the seat of his pants.
"Earn respect before you demand it."
"To bad I left my bike back at the Sanctum."
"I think they are a bit late if they want a fire demon. Moonfire on the other hand..." Aidan whispers from behind Devlyn.
Counting on those ears of yours!
Why do I feel they're talking about me? I'm not even sure I'm here..
Allura wrote: Aidan Moonschild wrote: Boo! That only works the first time, dear. ;P And I have yet to scare you..
*begins to scheme*
Corona: That's the way the cookie-man crumbles!
Aidan has a hard time talking, since he's still laughing.
"What's wrong? Aren't you glad to see me?"
He looks like he did before the Flame took over, except for his eyes. They are still pure black except for two thin slivers of curved ivory*.
*Crescent moon.
Howling with laughter, Aidan leans against pillar to remain standing.
"I am so I can weave illusions now, no one would believe I managed to scare you if I couldn't."
He keeps laughing.
Good morning. I think we are still waiting for lynora, but in an attempt to move things along...
As silently as possible, Aidan sneaks up behind Devlyn. Quitely dismissing his spell, he reappears.
"Boo!"
It was hard to decide which was the more spooky choice, that one or one that made it look like he was shouting...
BluePigeon wrote: I believe Sunny has wards or extended some of his senses into the Sanctum. Being divine, he can see through illusions and some invisibility. Didn't I say that already?
Aidan Moonschild wrote: I'd like to point out that Sunny G knows this is an illusion.
I'm thinking lobby. Since it seems they got a warning from Sunny G(and Aidan expected at least one of them to hear the 'boom' and come and see what made it), I'm thinking there is a big chance they'll come downstairs. If you'd like to suggest something, feel free to.
It seems I need another way to pop out of nowhere and say boo... I think the spell doesn't allow tracking by scent though.
Aidan, realizing the abilities of his targets, hides behind a pillar after telling Arielle to try and distract them so he can sneak up behind them and say "Boo!"
A complex illusion is cast, and Aidan dissappear from sight.
I don't remember if superior invisiblity stops true seeing or not. Also, not all of Aidan's new spells are illusion, they are just the most useful right now.
"You can leave if you want, I don't think I can keep the illusion going long enough for it to reach them. I think I'm still not fully recovered."
Stupid morals always getting in the way...
He starts to breath hard, and the illusion winks out.
"Plan B then. Invisiblility. Once I catch my breath."
Gravity Elemental Robert wrote: "Eh! What's with the loud flashy entrance? If you're needin' to see the boss. He's upstairs with some young kids and their adult companions. "Thank you."
The illusion of Dark Fire Aidan moves onward and upward.
"I'll try to help. If you're sure, this can start."
He walks up to the big double doors and begins to push them open, then stops and moves Arielle out from in front of them.
"They may over react a little," he explains.
As he pushes open the doors, a booming sound can be heard, and Aidan dives out of site of those inside as his magical double takes his place.
"Hello."
I'd like to point out that Sunny G knows this is an illusion, but Tristan will need detect magic to figure it out. This is assuming everyone is still in the Sanctum's lobby. If they are not, they will hear the 'boom' and may come running. Security systems are not alerted or activated by this event.
Arielle wrote: Aidan Moonschild wrote: With a quick turn, Aidan brings his bike to a stop outside the Sanctum. Chuckling, he looks over to Arielle."
"How did you like the bike ride?"
She grinned at him.
"It was fun. I like flying." "Told you it would be. Now can you make a slight breeze? I'll make it seem like much more when I open the door. Oh, I better get the spell cast too."
"Lunair Madness, chanoth cooro telia."
"Okay, once the door open, it will seems like they exploded of their hinges, and they will see an illusion of me in that stupid armor. You don't have to help with part if you don't want too. I wouldn't want to get you in trouble."
You know, I just noticed no one has decided to call Devlyn, Allura, or Oroth over the comm crystals. Hehehe...
With a quick turn, Aidan brings his bike to a stop outside the Sanctum. Chuckling, he looks over to Arielle."
"How did you like the bike ride?"
Aidan places a hand on her shoulder and mutters an incantation.
"Okay, they won't notice we're gone for a while, let's go."
When Arielle looks back, she can see herself and Aidan still sitting by Yggdrasil talking normally. With her special eyes, she can see the copies glow with illusion magic.
Once out of the Grove, Aidan moves smoothly through the forest, and they reach his bike in record time. Getting on the bike, he flicks a switch and the side of his bike shudders and expands, becoming the side car he mentioned/ He demonstrates how to helmet, and how to use the seat belt.
"Now I get to show you a way to fly while grounded."
He kicks the bike to life and they speed away toward the Sanctum.
Arielle wrote: After what seems like a long time arguing, Arielle finally falls silent. She taps her foot impatiently as she waits. Eventually she starts arguing in Auran again. This goes on for awhile before she finally taps Aidan on the shoulder.
"They're at the Sanctum," she whispers.
Aidan looks at the adults again to see if they are watching. Taking out a scrap of paper, he writes "We went to the Sanctum" and puts it in plain sight under a small rock(to keep it in place).
"Okay, let's go. If you can't fly, my bike has a side car that can be attached. Or we can use the portal, but then we won't have as much time to set up the joke. I've got the illusion right, and I'll warn you, I will probably get in a lot of trouble when this all blows over.""
"I don't know. They may have gone looking for help with Tristan. Try asking the wind, it seems like our best bet right now. I'll see if I can get the illusion spell just right."
Aidan quickly glances around to make sure none of the 'responsible adults' are near, then whispers his plan to Arielle.
"Okay, you know how Allura, Devlyn, and my brother were worried about me right? Well, what better way to show them I'm all right then to make them think I'm not? Once the realize it was a joke, they should be really happy that I am feeling good enough to prank them. I just wish I knew where the were..."
Aidan rests fitfully next to the World Tree, but soon falls into a peaceful slumber. When he wakes up a bit later, he is smiling.
"I feel like playing a joke..."
Allura wrote: Oroth Sunschild wrote: "Well isn't that a slap in the face! Now we learn that Tristan has to go and face the people we've been trying to keep away from him until we figured this whole thing out because that is the only for this to all be over!"
He sighs.
"And we're down one person."
Allura reaches out to put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Aidan will get things sorted out. It's going to be okay. I'm sure of it."
Now I feel like playing a mean trick... >:)
Emperor7 wrote: The Bard wrote: "That didn't go well. Seems KC is really set on knowing if Aidan is still a Champion. What do you think he will do if he scries for the Flame and finds it growing?" "Search for the location, and find a world in the process of birth. Could be a bit shaky if they visit it." "I.. won't let them.. hurt it."
Ch'ack Hammer wrote: "What do you mean? As spirits?" "I used a sword to cut a hole in fire. I moved so fast I couldn't see myself. I made a sword out light... and now I'm so tired."
lynora-Jill wrote: LJ will provide a healing spell to ease his exhaustion.
"That should help a little, but it's no substitute for sleep. You did well, Aidan."
"Thanks Lynora."
Ch'ack Hammer wrote: CH runs forward to catch Aidan before he falls.
"It's always rough when the power leaves you."
"It was never mine, not really. How could... I fight like that?"
Aidan looks at his hands, now empty.
"The Seed is gone. So is the Fire."
His eyes droop slightly as he struggles to stand.
"Oh. Okay."
He holds the ember above the ravine, then drops it in.
Not fully aware of what E7 means, Aidan thinks a moment.
"A peaceful one, under the protection of that blazing moon up there." He says as he point up toward the sky. The moon does indeed seem to be ablaze with silver flame.
Aidan holds up the hand containing the ember.
"The Black has gone from this spark, the only Champion Magic I still have. Put it in the core of this world for me will you?"
"What am I laying on?" He heaves his body off the ground long enough to pull a large seed out from under his back. His eyes widen and begin water.
"Thank you Yggdrasil.. for everything."
With the mists and positive energy arrows slowing it down and making it bigger, it isn't long before the Flame can't even get close to Aidan and it becomes almost see-through. Leaping back, Aidan drops into a crouching stance, and disappears as he strikes.
Left Handed Gotatsu!
A large hole appears in the Flame's 'torso', and Aidan reappears sheathing his blade. After a moment the Flame collapses and fades away.
Aidan slowly becomes tiny motes of light and floats over to settle in his body. He sits up wearily, holding a bright red ember in his hand.
"That... was interesting. And exhauting."
He falls back down, glancing at the barren land and frowning.
"This place has no heart. It's fire hasn't been lit."
