Hey all, I really feel bad about doing this but, after thinking about this for a while, I have come to the conclusion I have exceeded the bandwidth on my games and I need to reduce the number of games i am participating in. Sadly, after considering things for a long while, I have decided this game will be one I will drop. I just wish to emphasize this has nothing to do with any of the players (who I all know well he he). This is a combination of work getting busier along with other RL issues. While I could have Aevelyn stick around for a while with you guys, I think now is the best time to exit here while the game is in a lull period, so Samy can recruit another player quickly! I would imagine Aevelyn may have been called away by her House (which incidentally would take care of Nysene as well, he he) so she could be easily written out of the game. Thanks for the fun game everyone, and I will see you all in Mummy's Mask! (Samy, please mark Aevelyn as Inactive. Thanks!)

"Relax Breeze." Aevelyn chuckles. "It is not as if they started worshiping the Dawnflower! I am sure the archbaron wants to ensure our success as we have discovered things are more serious than we thought!"

As I am DMPCing a Fiendish vessel in a evil-themed Rappan Athuk game, I am leaning towards going with Triel here, but it is a close call!
Whatever you think is best for the game Samy is fine with me!
I like the Bloodrager option here since we lost our melee combatant.
"It would be nice to track down those deputies, so we can get their keys. They no longer own those boxes or any of the contents therein." Aevelyn mutters in frustration. "We should return to the Ash house now. We can store the confiscated items there."
"That does make sense." Aevelyn responds thoughtfully. "I see no reason to delay here. Caggan does have a date with the pillory. I wonder who will take a...special interest in these proceedings!"
Aevelyn eyes light up as the wand's properties are revealed to her. "A useful spell for close defense, though I hope I will never need to get close..." She smiles as she pockets the wand. Turning her attention to the rest of the items she frowns, "I suggest we keep these items here for safekeeping until we find a use for them. At least we found the key to the pillory!"
Aevelyn looks over the wand closely. "This may be useful..."
Aevelyn shakes her head. "I could care less as to what the staff does with the Last Stand, as long as they do not violate the Baron's decrees. As for Caggan, let's deposit him in one of the cells and let him stew for a while. Let him savor what is about to happen to him."
To be honest with you I have been feeling RL pressures, mostly due to work, and when Nysene dropped out I was considering doing the same. I think this was also affecting the MM game as well, as I was having difficulty writing for Turel. After thinking about it further I am willing to stick this game out for now. Recruiting from the MM crew sounds like a good idea to me!
Aevelyn nods in reply to Breeze's suggestion. "Yes, let us pillory him immediately. Kels, should you be contacted by the Angel Knight I want you to report it to us immediately! You may find us at the Sheriff 's office." Looking around at the Last Stand establishment. "I say we leave the place open for now. It will make it easier to find those who objected to our decisions here."
Lencia Visserene...that is a name I have heard...from the sermon: Knight-Inheritor of the Glorious Reclamation. "So, you met only a couple of days ago? Did she tell you where she was headed? Do you know of anyone else who may have contacted her?" Aevelyn asks the bard. ...like Tileavia Allamar?
Aevelyn searches the bard's face for any sign of falsehood but can see none. Still she had to keep trying. Her duty would demand nothing less. "Are you certain of this? I have heard from a reputable source you and she have actually met! If it turns out you are not being truthful with me..." She lets the threat hang in the air.
"I would reconsider your response here as you were aiding and abetting a known criminal." Aevelyn responds in an icy tone. "If you do not wish to assist us here then conside yourselves dismissed." Turning her attention to the bard, she gives him a sultry smile and saunters over to him. "Now Breeze, no need to be irate with the man. Vent your anger upon Caggan instead." Leaning closer to Kels she lays a hand upon his arm. "Perhaps you can tell me about your latest composition?"
Aevelyn's eyes flash in anger at the barmaid's impertinence, but she stays focused upon the main threat Caggan. She steps back from the melee and calls upon her infernal powers, uttering a piercing scream that only Caggan can hear.
"So be it." Aevelyn replies, her eyes gleaming in anger. "You will regret your actions today!" She then motions to her fellow deputies. "Subdue him."
Aevelyn fixes a steady look upon Bolgart as the impudent man approaches her bodyguard. "SIT DOWN, Mister Caggan. You are under arrest for violating the Baron's decrees and shall be punished for said crime. Do not compound your crimes further." Her gaze grows steely as she continues as her tome grows threatening. "We have shown you the uttermost respect...but our goodwill extends only so far."
"Do not forget the staff that works for Caggan. That would prevent him from violating the law here."
Aevelyn lays a hand on the impetuous catfolk. "Easy Breeze. While the law states implicitely there is to be no more than twelve people gathered in public, it only takes one person fleeing the establishment for them to satisfy the law's requirement. I would suggest we worry about Bolgart first." As her gaze travels over to the bard a smile creeps onto her face. "Besides I see someone I am very interested in having a conversation in addition!"
Aevelyn smiles broadly, "I am also looking forward to showing that upstart who actually runs this city! As for the Archbaron," She glances around the street, almost as if expecting trouble, "it is wise to fear him and not to trust him fully. However, as long as we follow the instructions laid out before us, thus proving ourselves of use, then we will have no reason to distrust him."
"Actually considering our new status as the Baron's new authority figures, I suspect the Ash House is the safest place for us to stay. We will make few friends in town I do suspect!"
I don't want to presume for both Shiloh and Nysene, but Aevelyn would have stayed at the Arch and Lark when she first arrived in Longacre, but now since all of us are a team we would need to stay together. The Ash House would be the ideal place IMO.
Aevelyn fits the sash on her body, admiring how she looked in it. While the material was nothing to write home about she did enjoy the aura of authority it exuded. "I think we should head to the Last Stand immediately." She remarks to her fellows. "Preferably before dark. I do not wish to waste time here."
Along those same lines Daze Monster would also help, though it only works against one foe. Still it might just give us the edge to run away.

While I am still available to post here, I am perfectly happy with taking a break here, as work/holidays is taking up a lot of my time.
Aevelyn nods readily in agreement with the plan proposed by Razelago. "It would be our pleasure to demonstrate your authority to those who refuse to see the truth." She twirls a lock of hair thoughtfully. "Still, caution is advisable here as the Angel Knight is the true threat to us. We shall interrogate this Kels person immediately!" Aevelyn finishes, her eyes gleaming at the prospect.
Aevelyn eyes the newly revealed form of Razelago with a well practiced smile. "A pleasure to meet you again Razelago. I trust whatever information you uncovered is related to the events we noted earlier in the town square?"
Once Breeze has finished with swearing the Compact, Aevelyn steps forward and grips the hot crystal and recites the words off the scroll, “I swear my absolute allegiance to Archbaron Darellus Fex, Her Infernal Majestrix Queen Abrogail II of the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune, and the Empire of Cheliax.”
The pain is far greater than she anticipated but she is able to complete the recital without passing out. This scar is quite...becoming I think!
Aevelyn nods in recognition of the solemn nature of the oath presented before her. This must indeed be a serious matter for the Archbaron to invoke this. I truly hope I do not regret this...at least my father will be proud... There is only a slight hesitation in her voice as she responds, "Of course Archbaron. I willingly and gladly reaffirm my loyalty to our Queen!"
A fortuitous offer to be sure! To be essentially members of the Chelaxian government would do wonders to rehabilitate my image! She starts to speak up in reply to the offer but catches the look in Archbaron Fex's eyes when she sees Breeze heading to the door. Smoothly interposing herself, she motions for the catfolk to the corner of the office. "I believe this would be sufficient Breeze. I believe we should accept his offer. I see nothing but benefits to having the weight of the Chelaxian government behind us. True it would make us larger targets but I believe the benefits outweigh the risks here."
Aevelyn puts the finishing touches on her makeup and dabs some perfume behind her ears once she is properly attired in her finest gown. She also goes over both Nysene and Breeze with a fine-toothed comb to make sure their dresses and makeup are perfect in every way. This is part of being nobility, Breeze. Think of it as putting on armor to step into the arena...the social arena!" On the way to the manor, she does ask Cimri "Has your aunt contacted you sice she was relieved of her position as Sheriff ?"
Aevelyn curtsies to the archbaron and offers her hand for him to kiss. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance Baron! While I must admit we do not brandish our power as would, say, the Order of the Scourge, but there are other ways to enforce your desires upon others, as I am sure you well know. Being loyal servants to Her Infernal Majestrix, we also share your concerns and are willing to aid you in putting down these threats."
Aevelyn smiles here, a twinkle in her eye. "Yes, Nysene. It has to fit you properly and snugly else the dress will be nigh useless in creating the proper impression. As for you Breeze," Aevelyn eyes the catfolk shrewdly, "I do like the color, as it contrasts your fur...err, skin quite daringly. I would recommend you wear it for our meeting, even though it will also need to be altered as well."
Ahhh good! I think she has suffered enough... "Yes Nysene, I believe that dress suits you perfectly." Aevelyn smiles in satisfaction. "We should pay for these outfits now as I am sure they will need to be altered yet." Thought you were finished my dear? Hardly!
Aevelyn represses a smile at her bodyguard's discomfiture. Now you know what it is like to be in my shoes, my friend! "Well..." She strokes her chin thoughtfully, "since I do prefer that shade of burgundy on my own body I do think it does look very well upon you. It does flatter your curves nicely. However..." she offers Nysene a reassuring smile, "I do believe the dress I found does offer more fashionable styling. It would also be a suitable dress for you in my opinion."
Aevelyn waves the two neophyte ladies over to the back of the store. "Perhaps THIS dress would be more suitable for the occasion?"
Aevelyn allows a small smile to creep upon her face as she recalls going through the same procedure in her early childhood. Of course the dresses were much more stylish than these ones... "These dresses I believe would be...adequate for the occasion. Unless there are some dresses that have escaped my keen eyes. I am sure these dresses could be altered fairly easily Breeze."
Aevelyn's eyes narrow upon hearing the price stated by the sleazy dockmaster but knowing the group's bargaining position was a poor one she nodded in agreement. "Very well. We shall procur the payment once you have demonstrated the wand's magical capabilities to us." I refuse to debase myself for the likes of him...and I shall indeed remember this...Mister Ingoe...
