Still no details on when this is going to be made available to the general public?

Total concealment requires you to guess the square of the target. The devilfish is large, so it's 4-squares large on a 2D tacmat. (And I would suggest that if you're in an underwater 3D environment, the GM should make the devilfish a 2x2x2 creature, thus 8 squares. Though this my extrapolation, and not in the base rules.)

Assuming your ally is small or medium sized, that means he or she would only take up one square. If the devilfish is grappling him or her, then that means that PC is sharing one of the devilfish's 4 (or 8) squares.

When Player B guesses a square to attack, if that square contains a devilfish, but not a friendly PC, then there is no chance of hitting that PC. Only if Player B guesses Player A's square is there a chance.

Now, what is that chance, assuming he targets the very square his ally is in? (For Player B, who doesn't have blindsense) By the rules, there isn't one. There's a printed optional rule that says you hit your ally on a natural 1. And I think the GM is well within his or her rights to houserule the situation. But you're not actually able to accidentally hit an ally in the Pathfinder rules. It's one of the things they dropped from 3.5.

Thank you for this response. I really do appreciate it. I can perfectly understand the houserule due to the lack of rules available, and it makes sense as to why that was done that way. Most of the other players were being rules lawyers and arguing the fact. More so because there was confusion and it wasn't clarified that he made it a houserule.

What should have been summoned was a Dolphin that had Blindsight.

Recently, our group was playing the second part of the Hell's Rebel campaign, and came across a bit of a confusing moment when fighting a Devilfish( http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary2/devilfish.html )

The Devilfish used it's Unholy Blood ability, giving it total concealment. It then attacked and grappled Player A, pulling them into the concealment with it. Player B and a summoned shark came in to attack it.

Shark( http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary/shark.html )Note: The shark has blindsense.

The question is this:

With the 50% miss chance of total concealment, and the grapple of the player, how would attacks to the creature work?

Should there be a 50% chance to hit the player grappled, or is it just the 50% chance to hit the creature as normal?

So basically they have errata/FAQ that they refuse to release as actual errata/FAQ? Sure, because that doesn't make it difficult for people to know it even exists...

My issue with how that is worded is mostly because Mounted Archer is a level 4 ability. It makes me think that it is supposed to come in then, and not at 3.

6 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

I know it has been asked many times before, but I am asking it again. Why does it seem that the "Sword Saint" archetype has typos?

"Brutal Slash" does not seem to be written correctly in the
Player Companion. Most believe it to be a typo, and I cannot seem to
find FAQ from Paizo that clears it up. The general census is that
"Mounted Charge"(Which doesn't exist for this Class or Archetype) was supposed to replace "Mounted Archer". I don't believe that it was set to replace
"Weapon Expertise". It would ruin the Samurai class. Although, between "Brutal Slash" and "Weapon Expertise", it would give
someone a +4 to confirm Critical Hits. With what is lost in the
Archetype with the "Challenge" and "Iaijutsu Strike" in AC,
Mounted Archer is the most likely.

If there isn't going to be an errata, we need an explanation as to why this is set this way, and where we can verify that.

Never mind. Just had to remove the space.

Doesn't seem to link to anything but the one drive. There is a piece missing out of that link.

I think I got a little farther. It's tough to set him up, mostly because I know I am going to be behind my cohorts in terms of magical gear/loot they have picked up and crafted over time. I will post up what I have so far tomorrow.

Well, that is what I was weighing out. Using the Inquisitor(Kinslayer) for all of the Holy(ish) damage they can do. The issue is the slow progression of their Base Attack Bonus as well as HP. The Ranger(Corpse Hunter) has the issue of not having all of that divine power backing him up whilst also not having access to all the spells to assist.

It's hard to figure out who will be better in a fight as they both have low hitpoints as well as advantages and disadvantages to both.

I realize that's with all classes, races, and characters. That's why I put up this discussion. It's been difficult trying to figure out which is best in a fighting capacity, even if it is Guerrilla-Type tactics of running in and out of battle, or should I be in the rear, helping everyone out?

Let me clarify that last part. Quick kills, in and out of battle utilizing something like Spring Attack, or Hardened for battle as much as possible for the front line.

I have figured that he will have Ranger-Corpse Hunter and/or Inquisitor-Kinslayer

Looking for Melee. I realize I loose out a little with either, but the advantages of the Dhampir outweigh some of that; Darkvision, Low-Light Vision, Detect Undead 3/day, Manipulative, Resist Level Drain, and Undead Resistance.

My Weapon is all set up for the moment - +1 Undead-Bane, Keen, Elysian Bronze Nodachi.

I suppose my biggest issues is what levels I should take into what class and what feats to go along with it.

Quick death, or hard battle. Those are the two I've been thinking about so far.

Looking to Build a "D" like character.

Like him, he is smart, great at Melee, and knows his way around a graveyard. Vampires, Undead, and Demons alike should fall by his hand.

So, that being said, Here are the parameters:

Starting Level: 10
Starting Money: 62,000gp + Starting Class average GP

Books Available:

Advanced Class Guide
Advanced Player's Guide
Ultimate Combat
Ultimate Magic
Advanced Race Guide
Ultimate Equipment
Pathfinder Society Primer
Faiths and Philosophies
Demon Hunter's Handbook
Mythic Origins
Blood of the Moon
Magical Marketplace.
Alchemy Manual
Undead Slayer's Handbook
Harrow Handbook
Dirty Tactics Toolbox
Heroes of the Streets
Black Markets.
Knights of the Inner Sea
Blood of the Night
People of the North
Player Companion Race supplements: Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes.

Optimal Build is what I am looking for. All Archetypes are available as well.

I'm only asking this because I have been struggling and toiling over this build for quite a while. Every time, I find something new and I just have to include it. I really appreciate any help at all. All of the discussions I look up on this are ages old and the new books that I have were not included.

Thank you!
