Telerin Quenya wrote: Was there any treasure gained? There is our loot sheet here. Which I can continue to maintain since I know tracking loot is not always fun.
My loot tracking philosophy is: make it easy on everyone. When you reach a downtime point, it gets converted to cash and you'll each get a share of the pile. You can buy items from the loot pile at their sale value (half price). If there's not enough of an item to go around (e.g. 3 people want 2 swords) then you work it out with each other.
If someone wants to make appraisal or diplomacy rolls to try and get more out of things, or find buyers for specific items, then we'll work it out individually.

There are enough Paladins here that losing a dedicated healer is probably not going to hurt too much. I'll be conservative at first until I get a feel for your resource management. And I fully expect the Mythic rules will take us into Wackyland, anyway, so it may become moot.
Sario hasn't checked in lately. Does someone want to reach out to them? And Kelly's not spoken up yet, but it sounds like we have a quorum so...I am officially in and will work with JohnnyBlack and Paizo to get this campaign transitioned. I'll get us started this weekend, unless the earth opens up and swallows us all...in which case, maybe Tuesday?
As a GM, I tend to play about the way Aberus has been played in the campaign to date. So, what you saw from him at the start is pretty much what you'll get from me as a GM--basically a straight tone with occasional humor as the situation warrants it. But I also want to meet your needs, so if you want banter in combat, or some other change in tone, just let me know. I want us all to have fun, and for you to have the game you want!
If, like Alexa, you have some personal history or familial ties that you want to weave in, PM me and I'll do what I can. I'll make one promise right up front: I won't kill family or harm family members off screen or put them in danger as plot points unless you agree to scenarios in advance, or it's otherwise something you are specifically wanting. Or, I suppose, if you decide you're related to an NPC in the AP...in which case, you have already agreed in advance. :)

JohhnyBlack, thank you for the time you put in for us. I totally understand how life commitments can get in the way of gaming. I am appreciative that you were able to get us to the end of book 1. So thanks again!

Hey gang, it's been a couple of months since we've done anything in game, and a month since we've heard from our GM, so it feels like it's time to ask the question: where do we go from here? Our GM hasn't been active on any of his games in a while, and his last updates suggested he is having a time crunch.
Do we want to wait, move on with a new GM, or call it? My offer from last year still stands.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Checking in as well. Everything OK, JohnnyBlack?

"But does she know the extent of what happened? I am not sure anyone does. You are right, though, that we can't count on it."
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Aberus smiles as Darya accepts the sword back from Irabeth. Then he turns back to her and says, "So our visions were true. I suppose there is good news here. If they all died at once, then....none of their masters really know what happened here, and there are no survivors to tell them. It will take time for them to work it out. And they may hesitate to act, thinking we have some desperate weapon at our disposal."
He suddenly looks very weary. "We have to act while we have the advantage. But...I am exhausted. As, I am sure, is everyone else here."

Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Aberus listens to the exchange with Irabeth and says, "I am grateful we all have the opportunity to debate its future. This day could have gone differently. That being said, we may have a much larger problem ahead of us.
"When we neutralized the Wardstone fragment, it did not merely 'diffuse' as was theorized. It seemed to release the positive energies stored in all the Wardstones along the border, all at once. I am not all together certain how it is we know this; we just know it."
He looks slightly uncomfortable as he continues. "We took the full brunt of this burst of energy. We felt it surge through us, healing us and restoring our abilities and powers, but not in a controlled manner. It should have consumed us, and I have no explanation for how we survived beyond divine intervention. I...know that is an extraordinary claim.
"But if we are right, if what we learned in that moment is true, then Avistan has lost its protective barrier against the demons while also destroying those that were near it. We have been...given a unique opportunity to turn this fight against them, but we have also been forced to take it."
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Aberus nods. "Alexa makes a good point, even if inadvertently. We may have stopped them here, but the rest of the city does not know that. We need to spread the word." He looks concerned as he continues. "And deal with any demon stragglers who do not get the message."
Shall we GTFO?
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Aberus looks around, still fairly shocked, as the glow fades from himself and the others. "We should not have survived this. It seems that Iomedae, Ragathiel, and Sarenrae--perhaps even others--have taken a personal interest in events here. And in us."
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot

Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Hey, everyone! I live in the Portland, OR metro area and am stepping in to say that my head is not in the game at the moment.
First, the important part: I am OK. I don't know what view of us you are getting from the news, but Portland is not filled with crazy riots or widespread civil unrest. However, we have had some significant and serious escalations in the past couple of weeks, and that makes it hard to focus on entertainment.
I am not quitting, nor do I plan to quit, it's just that at the current time it is difficult to find the mental energy to devote here.
I don't want to launch a political discussion about it as that's going to do the exact opposite of what I need. What I need is a little time.
Thanks for listening.

Aberus barely dodges the strikes from the advancing demon, and slices again with his scimitar.
Attack, scimitar: 1d20 + 5 + 1d12 ⇒ (10) + 5 + (2) = 17
COME ON
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Feeling the strange and seemingly divine power coursing through him, Aberus steps up to one of the demons and attacks with a swing of his scimitar.

Pfft.

Aberus gestures with his hand and calls for Sarenrae's grace.

Alexa Dorne wrote: And the problem I have here is that Alexa wasn't present when the old party was told about the rod... so she has no way of knowing there's a way to stop this unless someone tells her. I think it's reasonable to assume our characters went over this when they regrouped/reformed for this latest assault.
We've had so many fits and starts in this game that details like this get lost. I just yesterday remembered this had happened...and I was around for it. But it was over two years ago, we've had two gaps in place since then, and our two parties didn't so much come together in the story so much as they were just glued together when the game started up again. In other words, there was no real story continuity there.

No ranks in Knowledge (arcana), and I can't beat that DC for a Concentration check for casting, either. So not much for me to do but channel when people need it.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
It is mechanically impossible for me to break the grapple.
Is this an ongoing ritual of some sort? Is Jeslyn chanting or something, or is she just guarding the piece?
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Hefting his cold iron mace, Aberus "I get this feeling we have gone from 'not much time' to 'none at all'" He gestures as he casts a spell, and his mace glows briefly.
Casting Bless Weapon on his mace.

Aberus will create clean water, either for the bowl or to refill Arloric's waterskin. Or both.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
"I can produce clean water, but I did not ask Sarenrae today for the spell to bless it."

Aberus strains to listen, one hand held up for quiet. He turns to look at Sario, and sees her doing the same. "You hear something, too?"

Drink one or more potions as needed. I'll update our sheet.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
OK. Alexa, we have 8 potions of Cure Serious Wounds, and 14 of Cure Light Wounds.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Before we go further, who is in need of healing besides Alexa?
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
I could do that, but it seems like a waste on zombies. If you are asking, however, Aberus will do it.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
Aberus picks a zombie that's still standing and swings.

I found that adding some OOC text made it work. Maybe there's a minimum post length?

Hooray! I am able to post again. Boo! It's still a 6.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
It's more serious than that. Something is borked for me completely. I can't even post from work, which is a completely different system, different IP address... tried logging out/in on both, removing cookies on both, etc.
Male Human (Taldan) Cleric 5 | Loot
I am having trouble posting to the gameplay thread. Trying to roll initiative but instead of posting it just gives me the post preview screen, over and over. Anyone else seeing this problem?
My initiative roll is a whopping 6. :P

With all the fits and starts we've had on this campaign I am surprised I remember my own name. :P

Aberus goes over the window and looks outside. "Hold a minute," he says. "Isn't this the window we tried to climb into the first time we came here?"
Is this the window above the main entrance?
